If anyone has the spare time to take up a new project, could someone try their hand at a Final Fantasy Tactics texture pack?
It seems like it would fit perfectly (most of the landscape in FF:T are made of cubes anyway).
I would love to see it if anyone thinks they'd want to do it.
Fifthed through infiinity-ed. This would make for an epic roleplay if someone would do this. I just wish I knew how to make a texture pack, I'd do it myself.
I would really really really really really like this. JediJennifer, this should be your next project!
Edit: I might actually try this. I've never made a texture pack, though, so bare with me if it takes a millennium, (it would help if that site Jiku linked to had a convenient way to rip those sprites.)
so i posted on the forums and got some software required to do the trick.
i dont know when i'll be able to rip the textures.
the rpbolem with fftactics is that there are like 10 different grass, stone and whatever textures.
it's going to lose alot of it's charm :/
that does bring me to a nice idea.
what if minecraft had split block textures?
the middle part where the grass and cobblestone meet could have a combination of textures.
ps: the recently rereleased tactics ogre would be a great idea too!
Yeah all the different types of grasses would make it difficult. I suppose it could always have a few different grass textures and the player picks which they like best and can just use that one.
Also, did someone start work on this?
I think this is a fantastic idea and in my Spare time i will start working on it. I will most likely do it in Eather 32 or 64 so i can incorporate a larger texture range but we will see. Thanx for doing the lag work guys by finding the textures already.
Also as an option i can make the wool colors different textures such as more stone patterns or grass whatever. because come on who uses colored wool for anything.
If there is anything you would like to see let me know.
for all you people who dont know how to make texture packs, its REALLY simple. It just takes a lot of time and a lot of effort.
1. Find the terrain.png file google it you will find it pretty quick
2.Download either paint.net; gimp if you have photoshop thats fine but i dont recommend it
3. start to change the pictures of each block the way you want them to look they are all 16X16 textures so not to much but enough to keep you busy
4. take your terrain.png file and switch it out for one of the texture packs you may have downloaded or just get the full file with the mobs and items and such.
5. compress it and put it in the texture pack file in the .minecraft folder
Also, there are plenty of youtube vids on how to do this, if you have any other questions just send me a PM and I might be able to help (im still a noob technically but i make textures for myself in my free time)
I might try this as well :biggrin.gif:
in 32x res. I have a fair bit of free time and have a reasonable amount of experience with paint.net and gimp too!
EDIT: gonna have to be 32x because 16x won't be able to have enough detail that is needed for this to work well...
Well this was unexpected, I started on a 32x32 one as well because no one else seemed interested in making one xD
Hmmm three different people all making the same thing, I guess we could help each other out?
I already have a portion of the item sheet done if you guys want to help add on to it.
I have all weapons done, all axes, all dyes, and raw and grilled porkchops done.

Wow, the items look great so far! :biggrin.gif:
I'll post my progress on the terrain a tiny bit later today!
I played around with this a little bit. It doesn't look like it would be as easy as I thought it would at the start. FFT uses a lot of different tiles, rather than a standard tile. For example, take a look at the map for Mandalia Plains and zoom in on the grass. Rather than a standard tile like MC, all the various squares of grass are different. This obviously makes it look better as a whole, but it makes creating a texture pack from it kind of a pain. FFT square sizes are 26/28 (26 if you clip out the pink borders as I was), so they downsize fairly well. It seems like the main issue is creating a standard tile from FFT's varied states that retains that FFT look. I'm not enough of an artist to do that, unfortunately. Still, with those maps as a resource, it should be a much easier task than nothing at all.

I suppose most people are busy getting their own mods/texture packs to work with the new update.
