The reason I hadn't been talking much about the trees is because notch's new trees currently are currently not based on the foliage color file. The file has been changed yet it doesn't seem to affect either of the new trees. I am hoping this will get fixed before I release the pack but if it doesn't The scrap shacks will have to be... scrapped.. at least temporarily..
About this problem. As your words and picture shows, the new tree's leaves will change color and the old tree's leaves will not. This means the old trees can still be shacks, while the new trees can remain as trees! This works out better than every tree being a shack in my opinion, for it is pleasing to have trees around even if there are not many. The only problem with this is that all three tree types share the same inside log pattern, meaning that even non-shack trees will have a piece of scrap showing when the branches begin to grow. A creative solution to this issue would be making this inside log pattern stylistically match both normal bark, and shack material. < Tree bark for both of these patterns perhaps? You will find an aesthetically pleasing solution, of that I am certain! Good imagining to you, History!
What about leaves?
Since pine trees have a seperate leaf texture (and they're friggin' massive) it would make "sense" (in the "well this is the only way to do it" form of the word) to keep pine trees as-is, and make regular and birch trees shacks. No one would want to live in snowy wastes, anyway.

if some higher beings ever got to view this forum before coming to our planet they would turn back and not bother!

do you know how to get to the Netherlands other than a portal
This looks very nice, I am glad someone is continuing Doku's work. I love your additions to it. The thing that is bothering me is that the sky is perfectly blue, I was thinking that since the sky isn't controlled by a texture(That I know of.) You could make the clouds.png or whatever it is called, have no alpha, and make it a good polluted color, with a few spaces that resemble clouds so when it moves across the sky you get the illusion of a polluted sky and a blotted out sun/moon. And you can climb above that to see the thin layer of the earth's atmosphere that is left unpolluted.
Anyway, I think there was also a mod somewhere that changed the sky from blue to black, maybe you could include that instead of my idea, except make it a better color than black in the release. Best of luck, whatever you do.

Here is a quick test of the concept. obviously its not perfect, but doing it this way is the best option. I am not sure the mod your are mentioning actually exist because people ask for it all the time so it would be pretty popular if it did. I may be wrong though. Any way, You can also see the early version of sand stone in this screen. As suggested it will be a cracked tar top so it can be used to make run down roads. the side and bottom will be bricks of some sort so that it can be used to make bridges. I am going to change the top fairly heavily from what is seen here.
Edit: My avatar change is relevant. It will become apparent why soon.
this pack is really bcoming supah awsom3 :biggrin.gif: i luv i like the new sky, the asphalt, the art, the imagination needed to mae this pack, yeah you shoulkd get an award cuz this is the best pack ever seen btw have you done all mobs alreday? dont make them all robots make some mutants too but more i cant suggest atm only to keep your good work up! :tongue.gif:

Birch trees are the ones that get colored and they use the same leaves as normal trees. A possibility is to make the birch look rotten and molded to explain why its green (Not the best idea) or to just make trees look like dying, diseased trees.
Hm, definitely looks better than the blue sky, too bad its such a harsh transition from the end of the cloud plane to the horizon, hope Notch or someone else comes out with a way to change sky color by using textures or modding. Keep it up History. Glad I was of some use.

Just a quick unpolished preview of how the the item quality will improve.Aluminum siding(wood) will clearly be worthless and makeshift. Cocoon metal (stone) will be normal as it is made of a simple metal. Gears and Plasma (iron and diamonds) allow you to start making some higher tech supplies.
heres an idea for the pumpkins, fresh raw pumpkins can be worn as broken power armor helmets and when powered with a battery torch it can be used as a T.V. but since its post apocalyptic there is no channel and is just used for light. As for the nether ideas they could be like humans fighting to clear up the moon against the Ghasts (or bio-weapons) and cannot return to earth to awaken the cocoons because they are still cleaning up the moon. also I know that you are still working on mo' creatures support but I was wondering that if you have extra time maybe you could make some Humans+ support, it's a mod that adds humans to the game. I'm not rushing or anything I understand that you have a life too and need to balance your priorities. I will download this once it's ready and good luck finishing it.
Day 2 of my story is out! This day is very intresting, and explains alot of the weapons, and animals. However, I cannot write more stories, without some refrence materials.
Just had some idea's. snow = ash! cant think of anything to replace ice though... and musical blocks = metal drum of some sorts? on a separate note however, anyone else think there should be an external forums specific to this pack?

A quick run down of the mobs.
Squid:Robot
Spider:Robot
Creeper:Robot
Chicken: Robot
Skeleton: Bandit
Pig:Mutant
Cow:Mutant
Sheep:Mutant
Zombie:Mutant
As for the hell mobs. I have yet to do much with them.. but my thinking is probably
ZPM: Human
Ghast:Robot.

dark skies mod. this is achieved by modding the sky colour to a negative value, so custom colours are not possible.

This.
Also, I think that sky looks amazing. I only hope that periods of few or no clouds works transitions into dirty clouds without looking too jarring.
