Hey, History, are you planning on ever changing the sponge texture to something fitting? Probably last on your list of to-do, just asking though. It's an unused block, but it can be spawned, so I was thinking some might consider spawning the sponges for building materials, depending on what they look like.
Sorry for the double post, I was looking over this pack, not sure if it's been mentioned but - how about making the apple look kind of shriveled? I wouldn't eat it, but it'd fit to the theme maybe, since I wouldn't truly imagine bright red apples in this world.

yeah, sponge is not to high on the list but I will probably do it eventually. I was thinking of make sponge and chain-mail sort of status symbols.. so admins can be all, "ooooh, look at me".. obnoxious as it may be.. it seems fitting. As far as most of those textures go. I am not sure what the origin of some of them are. They are placeholders submitted by luna who also provided the music. I won't be keeping them around for long since it doesn't feel right to use them IMO. I may just find a started 32x32 re-sized texture for the placeholders. That being said apples don't even have to be apples. With out mods they are only found in dungeons.
I want to contribute to a lot of this as much as I can, but I'm not a good coder, but great at audio!
That sounds good. I will try to think of something for you to take a shot at and I'll PM you when I have something. Right now I need to get to a skin for a donation but I'll think of something.
Also.. I have begun the early works of a adventure for the pack. I don't have much yet. But the aim is to represent the lore of the pack as well as possible while providing an interesting mission. I am working on the lore but I am taking on so much at once that writing it up is getting pushed aside. One little Idea I had was that the Leaders are of the Cocoons are called Monarchs. I just thought it was a fun double entendre.
I love this pack. In fact, I love it SO much, I am actually making a Roleplay Server based completely around LAST DAYS. Check out http://minecraft.gmrjrnl.info for information.
Basic Premise: Low-Level Research Engineer of Orbital Industries "Doctor Roblog" secured a HIVE for himself and brought along survivors to re-create the world in his image. Each player can either buy a small plot for their own COCOON, and throw in their money with other Survivors and start a COCOON Town. Those who start a town are the Town Council, and may elect a Mayor. Mayors of many towns may form their own council and elect a regional Governor. Governors may form a Senate and elect a President, who answers directly to Doctor Roblog.
Towns will actually be considered their own factions once the faction system is in place. Basically, if one town is short on resources, but another is not Town A(One without Resources) can send an Emissary to Town B (One with a surplus) to work out a trade agreement. If Town B doesn't agree to Town A's terms, Town A may then declare war and take what they want. This is, obviously, the PVP aspect of the server.
PVP is not mandatory. A town may decide when it is formed to be a Peaceful town. That means the town may not be attacked, but neither can they instigate a war. If the town Council votes to become a Non-Peaceful town, they may send an Emissary to Doctor Roblog to state their intentions. Doctor Roblog will then mark them as a Non-Peaceful Town, and make the announcement to all other Towns. After 48 hours of no conflict by any member of their town, the Town Council may call another vote to return to Peaceful status and send an Emissary to Doctor Roblog. Conflict is defined by attacking OR being attacked. That means if the Emissary is attacked on his way to meet the Doctor, they must wait another 48 hours and call a new vote. The only exception to this rule is that a Town may spend 10,000 Roblogian Coins (RC) to negate the 48 hour waiting period. (This is a way around the fact that some of the more powerful towns may want to keep weaker towns from becoming peaceful by stalking their borders to attack their Emissaries.)
I will post a full thread about the server once it's ready, and I'll link to it in this thread in case people with the texture pack want to give it a whirl.
I tried to mimic the sound of an actual broadcast reception, with a bit of a cross-channel playing "when we go" that plays very very faintly throughout the entire track. Listen to the whole thing from end to end and you'll know what I'm talking about ;-)
Is it just me, or does the cake just not fit the whole "Last Days" theme?
I mean, you wouldn't really expect a bright, chocolate cake with frosting and sprinkles in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, would you?
Perhaps the cake should be replaced with a 'food ration'. You know, those little boxes of spam and crackers or a granola bar that soldiers ate during WW2-era combat?
well when i try installing the pack first by selecting mincraft.jar on both original and output its goes to a black screen and when i install the pack first normally (not selecting mincraft.jar on both original and output ) it goes to a white screen. when i install it by your instruction it just a black screen.
i haven't seen the new windows, but i didn't like the old windows, even though they looked cool they were hard to see, that made them cool, but they weren't piratical.

That's essentially what it will be, I just haven't Gotten to it yet.

I am really not sure what the problem is. This is the first time I heard of anyone talking about a white screen though.. and I mean in general, not just this pack. I know some people have issues with the HD patcher.. the only other option is to use it in the way MC supports.. the texture pack folder, and deal with the brick/gold/pumpkins (though i admit I wouldn't if that was my choice)
I plan on making a 16x16 version of the terrain eventually... and everything else works fine without the patcher. You won't have the animations tho :
EDIT:

You haven't played Portal, have you?
also a good point. This pack is supposed to be a complete overhaul that is its own thing but with plenty of little jokes and refferences. there is a reference to " the cake is a lie (Portal) " in the art, as well as "creepers just want a hug", and "Herobrine".. In the wools I am working on I have refferenced to HAL-9000 of 2001 as one of the blocks. In last days how ever its purely for decoration and is called the Orbital Industries Variable Energy Yield, ( O.I V.E.Y )
The O.I V.E.Y
There are others, largely from the fallout series, and I am sure that there will be more, so having cave that resembles the portal cake (while its been done) may not be the worst thing.

I have the mod going minus sounds for some reason I'm never able to get the sounds going on this mod, but the visual element is working fine.
I just have a question: How do you use Night Vision? I see the demo for it but I have no idea how to use it. I saw somewhere someone mention a jack'olantern, but I made one of these and it does not give me night vision.
Also are the new wool graphics in the game as of this release? The ones that ScoutTactical worked on? Those are really cool, great idea.

All you have to do is download the 1.3 support version, the newest version, and if you have it, then find a pumpkin (or add one in with an inventory editor) don't turn it into a jack 'o' lantern, and stick it in the place where you put a helmet on.

I will be including my versions on scouts concepts for wool in the next release. I have 6 of 13 done so far. Each are adaptations of his concepts.
This is whats done.
edit: You need to place a pumpkin in the helmet slot. i dont know why everybody keeps saying jack'o lantern.

the nether sounds awesome and i love the new glass.
As I understand it, that will be fixed in the next update. Before 1.3 gravel looked fine (though I honestly couldn't say what it was supposed to be... sandbags?).

Those look awesome History. Did you plan to put in the HAL block as the brown wool? Or is that an adaption of the computer terminal (light blue) / computer screen (blue) concepts?
Incidentally, I have the red wool (antenna tower) and radar display (orange wool). I'm still working on the lime wool (water purifier), and I think I have a preliminary design laid out for the lapis lazuli ore (unless you just want to keep the current design). I also polished the colors on the fan block and added bolts to the plating, which I think add a surprising amount to the look. I hope to get out a new mockup list to you in about three hours (I need two hours to finish my unrelated work and one to finish the mockups).
My new design for the antenna tower block is basically the old one, but with wire/tube/support designs going through the middle. It borrows colors from your wire block. I really like the radar block a lot, but the design is missing something right now... I feel like it doesn't have enough going on. Maybe you can help in that respect.
My problem designing the lapis lazuli ore to look like a circuit board to harvest has mainly been the point of view. They could either be stashed in the wall in a logical 'shelf' setup like a server farm, or a circuit board under a pane of glass. I have a WIP of the latter idea, and I think it looks pretty cool (I borrowed your TV design for the glass pane), but I'm not sure it fits.
Either way, it looks like you have plenty of mock-ups to work with until I finish these up. Please, do tell me if you decide you want to keep the current design for lapis lazuli ore. If you'd like to decide after you see my mock-up, that's fine too.
EDIT: There have also been a lot of requests for the mossy cobble to be laboratory walls, so I thought I might do a mock up of that to see what you think.
As I understand it, that will be fixed in the next update. Before 1.3 gravel looked fine (though I honestly couldn't say what it was supposed to be... sandbags?).
Gravel is supposed to be a block of junk. Like a cube that comes out of a trash compactor. As I understand it, History hadn't quite touched it up to look right with the original WIP and forgot to include it entirely in this release so currently it is just a placeholder. Don't mean to step on History's toes if he has been working on this, but you could have a go at this block, too.
This is history's original WIP for the gravel block:
This is awesome! But I can't download the audio :<
When I click the link on mediafire it just refresh the page, and when I click on "save target link as " (I don't know the name in english, but it's when you right click on a link download directly from the link, it's just under "bookmark this link" on firefox 4) it download ~120 or ~150 ko then it stops and says that the dl is finished. But other than that it's awesome.
As I understand it, that will be fixed in the next update. Before 1.3 gravel looked fine (though I honestly couldn't say what it was supposed to be... sandbags?).

I have recently come back into contact with my good friend who was a big help in helping me conceptualize the beginnings of this pack. He was the person who did the Pig, Chicken, Cow, and Zombie sounds and is back on board to help with more. We hashed out exactly what to do with the ambient cave sounds and wrote a few up today (much credit goes to him) and once they are done I will be "auditioning" on for an announcer on this thread. If you are a competent voice actor and can do a good 50's announcer style voice(male or female) then you can email me a recording at [email protected]
There will be an official announcement and a dialogue sample for people to audition to later on, but I just figured I would make some mention of it now.
@scout. I am looking forward to your new designs. I realize that my redesigns have altered them quite a bit but you have been a huge help. I can't image I would have figured out a good way to do these wools anytime soon without your designs as a point of reference.
That being said. I do have the HAL look alike in the spot of the terminal at the moment. I don't want it in the place of brown because it should be obtainable without cheating IMO. I am not 100 percent committed to using it as light blue but I do know it should be obtainable. Also. I am not 100 percent sold on have a computer monitor as a block at this point unless I am able to make it clearly different that the TV's. but then again I think perhaps It could be subbed out for something else all together because one could easily use a TV for whatever they could use the monitor for. Perhaps something a long the lines of telephone switch board or something even more fundamental. I am not entirely sure though. I will give it some more thought but I need to hit the sack for the night now. if you, or anyone for that matter, has any ideas for any other wools send them my way.

Love the sound. However I had a slightly different idea for what it should sound like, so I took your sound and modified it a little to produce this:
http://www.eternalbloodlust.com/minecra ... /Radio.mp3

Also, here is an alternate version that has stereo and a bit of an echo that would be better for ambient music (if you want that sort of thing):

I am pretty good at editing sound files and special effects, and I am also a java coder, so if you need me for anything I am here to help.
