Both of the designs look awesome. Hopefully the new textures won't take that long. I'm guessing you're probably going to do a relatively spartan design (like military cots), so ideally you will be able to get back to doing what you enjoy.
That said, I'm going to be relatively busy this afternoon, but this evening I'm going to try and put out mock-ups for red, yellow, and possibly lime wools. I may make a few slight touch ups on my radio mock-up, or even move on and do a preliminary circuit board design for the lapis lazuli ore. Until then, you have a host of options for what to work on.
some basic 1.3 support is here! Nothing fancy. Just functional again. I did throw in some armor, and pumpkin blur, and well as revised items.png with luna's placeholders. Also I made detailed picture instructions... which was A HUUUUUGE pain in the ass, hopefully it will help people though. If it does I'll be content.
@ scout. I didn't make cots exactly.. but I may revise to that later, or something entirely different.
edit... also the image for the new redstone repeater is backwards.. but it won't look like that long anyway

I need to get some shuteye for now. Tomorrow I'm going to brainstorm ideas wools plus dandelions. Here's what I've got so far: Lime Wool: Water purifier? [green + white] (Making this recognizable without writing it directly on the block may be difficult. Concept images: 1, 2, 3) Red Wool: Antenna tower block? Might look like the supports seen here. Dandelion: possibly AC unit? concept shots: 1, 2 -- would logically appear on roof/surface, has potential for flavor and utility Yellow Wool: fan blades? -- industrial fan has potential for looking great Orange Wool: ??? [red + yellow] - no idea what combines the attributes of transmissions and AC
I would suggest an old plane engine with bent propellers for the dandelion, fallen off old planes from the war. Then orange would become a motorized device for the top of the antenna tower (antennae + motor), and yellow would still be an industrial fan.
Instead of microchips, lapis lazuli could be an old vacuum tube transistor, the lapis lazuli ore being a board of transistors.

I love the feeling of post-apocalyptic survival, and with a story too! Really though, couldn't you have done something else for gravel?

@scout. While the idea for the radio tower is good, wool doesn't support transparency.. so if you place it on the ground and look through the holes you can see strait down to the void. Perhaps it can be conveyed with a solid texture. It won't be quite as satisfying as if that were to work that way.. but oh well : /

That's just a mock-up I did for History, not a release version. It's intended to be transparent in-game, but since this design is only for forum-use, there was no need to make it transparent. Sounds excellent. They look great in that shot, and you're right, they were always intended to be embedded into walls. I'm toying with the release version now for some inspiration on designing these last few mock-ups.
Maybe in the mean time, I can think of an alternative tower design for the red wool that will work as an opaque design. Disappointing, but not un-fixable.

If anyone knows of some good songs.. not specifically fallout songs... but in that spirit let me know. or post them on here. Right now the pack has an ambient music sound track provided by luna but I want to play with alternatives as well. at the very least this will be one of the records.
Edit: or even more ambient selections. The music I have now is a darker ambient theme. That does work for the pack and a few of them are really nice, but a few are perhaps to similar to each other and it would be good to get a little more variance.
Loving the music, I suppose ill go look for some since i dont have much to do.
Cant wait to get back to my Desktop so i can play at a higher framerate than 2.

Ummm... I don't think that that's the kind of ambient music I would want. It'd be fine as a record though. Maybe this would be good ambient music? (yes, I know, from fallout 3, but it works fine. Unless you can find something better)
EDIT: Is the sound fixer thing updated yet do you know? I haven't been able to play with your sounds yet, 'cause of course I downloaded it straight before the update came out, so it froze. I hope it is, 'cause I wanna hear the ambient music you have in now!

Haha. Same artist. I have heard this song too, and was thinking about it for the pack. He is brilliant. I know this song is very on point for the pack. I just don't like the sound of it as much. If there is a more records mod that I can endorse, I will definitely include this as well. I wasn't aware of that mod. That's probably the way to go. Where did you get that music from by the way? if you could perhaps find a couple more to alternate in for a few in the "new music folder". I do like what you have, I especially like the three from the "music" folder. I just think that there needs to be a bit more variety.

your probably right about that. also yes, the Sound Mod Enabler was updated today.
Fallout does have a pretty good ambient music selection. There probably isn't harm in taking a bit from it : /
well it's very hard to find music with the proper ambiance, the music came from fallout 1, fallout 2 and s.t.a.l.k.e.r., i was trying to avoid fallout music as much as possible but i didn't have to much choice. also much of the s.t.a.l.k.e.r. music is over the top or far too long(several tracks go for 10+ minutes). i'm keeping an eye out for other music to use though
i personally found the music from fallout 3 lacking, it doesn't have the same kind of bleak ambiance that the older fallout games or last days has
