Would you mind if I were to recreate/modify this pack to work with 16x?
Kind of like what they did with doku's rpg.
I know it will look bad but with intel cards minecraft doesn't like running smoothly as it is, let alone with 32x texture packs haha...
You don't need to build a new pack for 16x, just choose 16x16 in mcpatcher and it will resize everything for you. This pack actually doesn't look half bad, considering it's half the resolution, except you can't read anything like the TV's or chests.
Honestly, tho, 32x is nothing when you consider that every other FPS that has ever been released in the past 10 years uses far more complex textures...... I know you don't want to hear it, but: get a new comp ;P

Really? I didn't know Mc Patcher did that. but regardless I will make a clean 16 by 16 version later on. Right now the terrain isn't even finished so it does make sense for me (let alone someone else) to start making other resolutions of it. Rest assured. I will do it eventually.
Loving the progress so far, already have a sortof shanty town planned if anyone starts up a multiplayer server.
Don't know why people want the torches changed. Personally I like them as-is. Glowsticks would feel odd when putting them on walls, and someone suggested making them green to which I can say I've seen green torches (steampunk pack) and I hate them.
*waits patiently for completion of pack*
Glowsticks, and they failed miserably.
Yes, i submit to the rule of lightbulbs.
I freaking LOVE this texture pack! It's goal of changing the feel of the game totally worked! It has even convinced me to make a sort of ocean side 'colony' with everything a clonony needs! Warehouse, mess hall, signal tower, farm!
it's all ebcause of you,History. Thank you :smile.gif:
i will post a link to the colony right down here if ya wanna check it out :smile.gif:

looks good. I am glad that this pack can be a source of inspiration for so many. I am currently working on sounds to take a "break" from my usual texture work I will be releasing an updated terrain this week and possibly some mob sounds. Its worth saying I don't have the means to record EVERYTHING myself so many sounds will be altered from other sources. Things such as ambient cave sounds I will be recording myself.
Its also worth mentioning that sound isn't exactly my area of expertise but I am not a complete novice either.
I think you are a little bit confused right there... I can play most of the latest games on medium settings, minecraft is just extremely unoptimized and works better on some cards than others.
As for the patcher, it doesn't convert the tectures to 16px that defeats the point of having higher res textures, it just modifies the minecraft.jar to have better support for the higher res textures.
EDIT: I just re-read what you wrote, sorry. I'll try that out later, thanks for the tip :biggrin.gif:
Yeah, I think the main culprit comes down to Java. Since those intel boards they are putting in laptops now in lieu of a dedicated GPU rely heavily on the CPU and installed RAM, of which Java is already an enormous hog, it would make the graphics impossible... On my macbook, which always comes with a dedicated GPU, I have never noticed any difference in speed between using a 16x16 pack and the 256x256 Photo Realism pack, for example. (However the game is equally choppy in both)

I think it is freaking AWESOME that you are even attempting to do this. Can't wait to see how it comes out!
That's awesome. I am exited to see what folks are doing with the pack.
I am also exited about releasing some sounds. I have set the day for Friday, Regardless of what I have finished. I just spend a few hours on Ghast and Zombie Pigmen passive sounds and the Nether is going to be a noisy and unpleasant place. haha.
until I have the means of recording to a similar effect myself, the Zombie Pigmen have the voices of Half-Life Combines. I won't say anything about the Ghasts but they definitely set the atmosphere there.
Not sure why, maybe it's just something that'll fix itself or an unfinished texture, but I'm playing the Compound (Map) on this texture pack, and Minecraft guy keeps trying to kill me

When I die, I want to go peacefully, like my grandfather, fast asleep, not screaming like the people in his car
This is damn awesome.
It's like a mix of a rain, humming, radio chatter, strong wind, and radio/robot beeping.
Creates noisy, dis-orienting atmosphere. Beautiful.

Suggestion that soul sand be like caution stripes/tape, or some such themed item.
If i switch back to reg MC then my caution stripe thing (coal) would be ridiculous.
My friend is making a bunker in my server, and i came across, entered it, and was stunned by the awesomeness, even though it isnt done, it is pure epic.

How about, they could be some sort of robots that have wool all around them as some sort of "blankets" for survivors that wander the deserts.

Spiders are my hated foe in regular minecraft, but this was plain creepy.
Will post screenshots of my fort when I have more of it built. >_>
