I attempted to have a go at the lang file for my own personal amusement, and decided to share it with ya all. So here it is: en_US.lang
Just drop that file into the lang folder inside minecraft.jar
History: Use it, toss it, it's all fine by me.
Everything in there is based on things that are currently in the WIP or that have been discussed before on this forum. Let me know if you see any typos/errors.
If you want, I can make a website. It won't look THAT good, but certainly may be good enough to suit the Last Days feel, plus I'd feel like contributing. Here are my ideas for The Nether:
THE DUMP
"A certain experiment in the moon by Orbital Industries was weapon storage. They successfully created a storage dimension accessed by Particle Omega Relocation To Advanced Location. Portal for short. Portals are constructed by creating a wide square and using a Temperature Blaster (Flint and Steel) on it to create a strange compound that will transfer molecules to a compound like itself in the storage dimension. This world was to be used as their universal hiding spot. Only Orbital Industries knew the secret to accessing the world. They build all of their portals in the moon. When the moon was destroyed, The portals were destroyed, keeping the materials inside the dimension to decay. Over time, most of what's left of the materials inside the dimension were:
Junk(Netherrack)
This is the materials compressed within time. Due to the materials within the items, it has flammable properties. It also is composed of weak metals, making drills the tool for collecting them.
Light Cubes(Glowstone)
These objects are the only functional material in the dimension. It lights up the area due to long lost properties and materials within the cubes. And since time has weakened them, destroying one will give shards of the material, which can be collected into 9 pieces to create a single cube.
Tangled Wires(Soulsand)
Some boxes of electrical wires are left in the dimension. Walking on the wires may cause people to trip, fall or get stuck, slowing movement.
Radiation(Lava)
Waste Barrels have decayed and so releasing the toxic materials within them.
And there are two beings inside the realm aswell. There are scavengers, old Orbital Industry workers inside the dimension trapped in it. They mutated, into monsters. They now scavenge materials to clothe and arm themselves. The other being are the Recycling Bots. Huge machines that were connected to a control panel in the moon now going mad and attacking any unknown substance, to be recycled by their "Tube Tentacles".
Those are my ideas thanks for the pack!

I intended to do this at some point, I will likely take some of what you put and change others, I like Cocoon Shell for example, and "flimsy door/blast door"

Very thought out. I dig. I am not sure exactly what is going on with the nether though. currently it is supposed to be the moon but I don't know how well that will translate.. The idea of an epic scale junk yard is also very appealing. And I love the P.O.R.T.A.L though I would perhaps changed it to Particle Omega REDISTRIBUTION To Advanced Location. Only because relocation to advanced location is a bit repetative.. other than that I think its awesome.
Also, If you do in fact make a website, keep me posted.

I may yet mess with the clouds, and I'll get the water straitened out for the next DL.
That's it for me for the next 12+ hours. Ill be back later, in the mean time... happy surviving
GAH. I just [somehow] deleted all of my world saves trying to get the custom biome colours. I thought you had to delete the .minecraft folder, then found it was the minecraft.jar folder to remove all previous texture/mod etc then copy the stuff direct to .jar file. ... damn.
EDIT: Ima just going to write up what I did and hopefully someone can tell where I went wrong.
I open 'minecraft.jar in WinRAR and then open LAST DAYS in WinRAR. I dragged the 'direct to jar' folder from last days to minecraft.jar and clicked ok. It then said minecraft..(numbers) path does no exist, create it? I clicked yes and assumed this was it, it abviously wasn't so how do I get the custom biome grass etc.?
OK first of all, you don't want to drag the whole "Direct to .Jar" folder, just the contents inside. You also don't want to use the minecraft-1.2_02.jar file, but rather the minecraft.jar file that mcpatcher created. If you're not using mcpatcher, then I recommend you download that and patch minecraft that way first.

Right so I dragged the foliage colour and the grass colour files from direct to jar into minecraft.jar after using the patcher and still nothing happens. it still also comes up with 'path does not exist, create one?' when I try to move the foliage and grass files. I click yes. Is this right? Thanks!
In minecraft.jar there are folders. In any texturepack.zip there are folders. What you want to do is move like to like. Take things from the misc folder in your texturepack.zip and put them in the misc folder of minecraft.jar. Rinse and repeat.

do you know how to get to the Netherlands other than a portal
That was my idea!! But I think the Mossy cobblestone should be umm... Mossier. If this is the apocalypse then why is it so clean?
Its the flooring of a test facility, it makes sense that it should be clean. Test facilities are usually underground and have lead lining as protection either for or against the outside (Nuclear testing ETC.)
oh also I would really suggest you look at the grassy dirt because the side is grey and rocky and the top is green, but there's no green on the side.
in the folder that needs to be injected directly into your jar, there is a misc folder, in there it contains the proper biome colours for grass, as such it wont be green anymore if you install it that way.
it is merely a repacked version of the beta history uploaded
in the HD patcher, select this zip as the texture pack and install,
you should have the biome grass and the custom water and lava.
if history minds that i have done this then i will remove it.
i patched using that pack with mc patcher but the grass still looks green top with grey bottom for me to. what gives :/?also why is clay just a red block lol?
Can't wait for this to be finished, just two things I have to say, maybe you could have the lanterns give off sparks instead of smoke? I don't know how this would look with the size constraints, just something to put out there. And maybe an alternative stone texture (smooth stone, regular stone), that is actually stone. Just seems strange to explore the harsh wastes and find mountains of steel and dirt is all. You know, the dirt part is normal, but you get what I mean.

mutant horse? :biggrin.gif:
also how do i install the pack?
Read back a few pages, there are some HOWTO's there. I refuse to repeat everything a million times.
You installed the texture pack wrong
????????????????
how so?
you just did, otherwise you wouldn't have that issue.

Just wait until History releases the next WIP, it should patch right in without any issues...
