Im going to build a massive pre-war city with a cocoon deep underneath it :wink.gif:
about the wool i might have a simple solution, even though there are enough robots now i suggest to make the sheep an robot, it would be a component deliverer. its designed by orbital industries and use by C.A.N! Deliveries (Components And Now! Deliveries) these bots sended before the war recources needed to make tech for needed for cocoons and other buildings. When You ''sheer'' a C.A.N Bot it will drop a blank component block. when you use dyes for exemple the inksack which will be the printing device obtained from an observation drone will turn the Blank component block turn into a 60's looking printing device i have here some ideas:
-Blank Component Block + Printer device (inksack) = Printer
-Blank Component Block + nuclear Power ore (Lapis lazuli) = small generator
-Blank Component Block + Raider goggles (Bonesmash*) = Projector
-Blank Component Block + Waste Barrel (cacti) = Gas tank or something :wink.gif:
-Blank Component Block + Printer device + Raider goggles = Terminal (Gray)
*bonesmash also instant grow plants. the raider goggles can still explain the fast grow of plants since it will allow you to let more sunlight through the lens of the goggles which will give plants more light. since the greenish toxic sky wont let much sunlight through :smile.gif:
for the others colors and dye materials i couldnt find a solution yet but maybe you can improvise more :biggrin.gif:
BTW: i luv the garbage
This is an interesting thought. I have been on fence about dyed wool.. perhaps I will create a poll on this subject. the options are essentially
1... simple colored blocks
2... patterned cloth
3. regular builing blocks (personally I am not in favor of this since they are weak and flamable)
4. Objects, terminals projectors and the like.
DUU EET? wtf?
Anyways ill vote on what i suggested if theres a poll coming about this that dyed blocks are objects. i find it pretty weird looking if you walk through an dark post apocalytic world and you encounter brighly coloured blocks but its up to you its you mod and ill see what the results will be :tongue.gif: personally i dont like the idea that they'll be use as building block aswell :biggrin.gif:
don't tell anyone but... I may not go by the poll if I don't like the results
I've been following this thread for a few weeks now, but haven't posted anything. Just want to say, it's looking amazing, and I'm having my friend hold off on starting a new server until this pack comes out. I can't wait for it to come out! ... but take your time. I also really like how your listening to the rest of the forum. It's really cool. I haven't seen anyone put as much thought into a texture pack before.
What are your thoughts on Obsidian or Pumpkins? Also, if we're still considering the Nether to be on the moon, I think it might make sense for Soulsand (or Slowsand, whatever you want to call it) to be moon dust. I mean, you sink in it as you walk...

I think mechanical parts and objects similar to jmaster's idea sounds like the bext plan. The trick would be coming up with enough interesting parts and components to account for all uses and aspects of the blocks and dyes. But you're a creative fellow and I'm sure you'll come up with some great ideas.

The hard part with that plan, albiet a cool plan, is that every side of the printer, for example, would have to have the same texture on it. Might not be an issue if you place them in walls, but just placing them on the ground may look a bit off.
Not saying it's a bad idea, just a slightly more complicated one...
Within the shattered remains of the moon, nicknamed "The Belly", Orbital Industries employees work alongside the SecurAlls to clean up their mess. These folks have been slightly mutated after years of prolonged exposure to the waste despite their protective suits.

Make the visors tinted blue :tongue.gif: dunno why i just think it would look better!
EDIT: or tinted gold like spacesuits... that is, unless the moons surface is breathable due to terraforming and whatnot.
Also I have some suggestions:
Lightstone is a lightbulb covered box (ever seen a light up sign with no cover? like this) It was originally brought to the moon so that the workers could make signs denoting important places near them. but after most of the covers broke off they quite being maintained and fell to pieces. When you break them you can salvage some lightbulbs off them, get enough and you can build your own.
I like the idea of decorations for dyes. but it may be hard to come up with how all those things work in together.
Next, I think the trash areas look like a bunch of black and white organs (A black organ with a grey artery sticking out of it.)
Also, if you are lucky you may find some of the knives people threw away that the scavengers didn't see. Combine this with a stick and a propulsion unit with some tape and you could load them into some sort of device to weaponize them.
EDIT: also, I am surprised you chose what you did for the ghasts. I assumed you would do a moon mining drone. They were imported to help the astronauts with their mining operations int he core of the moon; however the nuclear radiation caused their targeting systems to decay and ruined the failsafe that stopped them from confusing human bones with valuable moon ores.
Can't wait for this! I'm making my own texture pack based on dead space, and it's only 16x16, I am amazed at your speed of making the textures and screenshots. Keep up the good work!
I dont know if anyone thought of this (i don't have the patience to look through all the posts, but i think it would be really cool if you made the nether either:
1: an alternate universe oasis, of beautiful lush caves and light stalagmites and grass and life, but with some sinister creatures lurking.
OR
2: something like the fallout vaults, with mutants roaming around and flying brain spitting fireballs at you.
The idea of colored cloth as random objects would pose a problem if you built something and showed it to another, non-Last Dayser, or vice versa. Imagine seeing big rainbows of junky machines... Apocalyptic, I guess, but weird.

They are humans just like us!, except the blaaargh scary mouth and the tentacles.
I have tentacles and a blargh scary mouth, you insensitive clod!

can always go back to using default if it looks funny. or give them the pack so they can see it in all its glory.

do you know how to get to the Netherlands other than a portal
I'm going to bring up my suggestion of fire = electricity/lightning.
If cloth becomes objects like printers and the sort it just makes sense to have them "short out" with electricity instead of burning. Also makes sense since most flammable objects and mobs are now metal.
Also I have some suggestions:

The mobs are at the same relative resolution as everything else in the pack. Light stone is going to be something along those lines and that was essentially my thinking. In regards to the ghasts. It is not entirely finished and I may steel a little bit of that concept for the lore... namely "confusing human bones with valuable moon ores"

I am actually not sure how to change the fire animation. I know how to change the particle effects (obviously) but not the actual fire. I will look into it.

I looked that up on google, they said to change the FIRE TEX thing in the textures.png file. I didnt do it because i got confused :tongue.gif:
I hope I was of no help :biggrin.gif:
EDIT:
And you should change golden swords to metal pipes or something. Those moon-workers look strage holding swords. Or, a lightsaber, so it's still futuristic? Oh, wait. Lightsabers are good, gold swords are bad. Metal pipes would be better imo
Another EDIT:
I did search for this, but it said there where to many so I'm gonna post it :tongue.gif:
I did see the sludge for the Nether, or Moon, or whatever it is I forgot.
Are you gonna change the water to more polluted water? Like from Portal, heres a screenshot:
I even made a portal so you can get a close up view. Your welcome :tongue.gif:

Why are the mobs low res?
