edit: also, I appreciate suggestions. So if you are not fond of someones suggestions, feel free to make your own. I read them all and have already taken a few.
Woohoo!
Okay: first off, I hope I don't get picked on for something that people are already cheering over and potentially calling 'near-perfection'. Then again, every bit counts. Especially when the expected release date is about a month away. Well, it could always come sooner.
This first suggestion is little, but I think the monitor on the Hall Monitor could be a bit more rounded, to give off the impression that it's more of a monitor. Most monitors back in that day were more rounded so it'd be more likely to be recognized as a monitor.
Two quick edits because I can't decide on which is better:
As for the blocks, I'm pretty sure that the idea of snow = ash has been suggested before.
Flowers could be wilted, or some sort of mutant weed, or just debris sticking up out of the ground, but considering the new dye feature, they could be actual discarded jars of dye. Wait--yeah, that probably wouldn't work...
Slimes? Toxic waste could be involved. They could be some sort of spy robot. After all, pliable substances are extremely good at getting through small crevices.
I'd go with a previous suggestion about sheep being an animal made to carry an assortment of bags containing, well, things; it's just not the things that are important. It's possible to strip the thing of its bags, which would be equivalent to shearing it of its wool. But then how would the bags regenerate?
Wow, I'm already out of ideas. But at least we only have Slimes and Sheep to go before the mobs are completely done.
Sheep could be robots and the wool could be some sort of screen, when hit you get a mini-monitor, and dyes could be data-disks or usb plugs, colored dofferently depending on the color
A suggestion for the gravel texture, I think it should be replaced with trash. Basically a block that looks like the contents of a landfill (garbage bags, tires, cans, etc.). I used this when I tried to finish Last Days for personal use, and it works really well. With the place gravel spawns it looks as if there is garbage washed up on beaches and landfills found underground.
sheep should be miniature mutated yaks, cause if anything can survive a fall out, its a yak :tongue.gif:
ok now for a real idea.
perhaps they could be a beast, that is like a sheep (i imagine it to seem leathery, like a brown and naked sheep with lots of wrinkles) but stranger and it doesn't have wool, but wanders the waste land rolling in garbage to create an almost 'shell' like outer skin to protect it. You can then steal this garbage and salvage what you need from it (bleach/dyes/whatever you want to do with it)
Looks like a bunch of rubber ice packs, and doesn't tile very well. Try mixing in plastic container rings and making the edges dirt-like so they could blend with dirt and sand better.
As a huge fan of Fallout (3 only, I'm afraid) and pretty much everything that's even vaguely post-apocalyptic in theme, I cannot wait for this Texture Pack.
Keep up the great work History
Concerning the gravel texture: I agree with Chaosrain112. The idea iself is great but I think it'd look better if the gravel had the same basic color as the surrounding dirt but with some plastic and a bit of rubber thrown in.

LOL.. I know that thats not funny.. but it is kind of funny that you thought it was worth mentioning that I shouldn't put the kid in the texture. I will play more with the gravel later but I am not at my home computer at the moment.
The tiling of trash looks nice. I think the texture could use some color though, such as red soda cans and other items with colored labels. It would also look better if it was more cluttered, instead of clean garbage bags. I'm not saying remove the bags, because the they look awesome. Just add some loose trash around them so it doesn't look like every garbage bag survived the nuclear apocalypse unscathed.
Cant wait! This pack looks AMAZING! Did you ever get the bowgun made? And, couldnt you make the chickens drop ammo shells, you can always reskin the arrows png to look like bullets. Oh... wait... nm. The stick wouldnt make since then.
Is there a tutorial anywhere to retexture animal mobs and stuff, the chicken one is especially confusing to reskin.

not that I am aware of. my advice if you are attempting to reskin mobs is to start by placing some colored lines where you think edges might be. Then look at them in game. as a general rule

= top = bottom = left =front = right = back
EDIT:
quick version of gravel fix. It has to remain kind of monochromatic or else you start to get a lot of color noise. So if i do include bottles and other such things... it has to be in a strategic way.
That is looking a lot better, although it still doesn't tile all that well. If you do add the bottles and such just make the colors very washed out and saturated.
the garbage/gravel blocks seem to clash a bit with the regular ground tiles, it seems very cluttered and busy..
it's a little difficult to tell what i'm looking at.
but this pack looks amazinnnnnngggggggg overall
the art is... top... notch
this is coming along amazingly i cant hold the excitement for a good post apocalyptic texture pack keep up the good work History and to you i give my highest honor of the week the golden creeper

The HIVES were not eco-friendly. As such, they could not find a way to dispose of their trash. So they dumped it deep into the deepest of caves. Some HIVES near the ocean dumped it into the sea. As time went by, the trash in the sea got washed up into shores. Among the trash and stuff, one of the most common things you find is the tip for the fire-arm. You can usually find it 1/4 each time you search through the garbage.

Something like the above, minus the poor kid. (apologies, best picture I could find on short notice)
