Extra blocks in john smith pack?

im using john smith texture pack and i noticed in the bottom left section there are some blocks that arent there in the default textures. can any one tell me what they are?

He's talking about the alternative textures added to empty slots. You can replace any block with that texture if you don't like the original texture.

A lot of packs have those, they're alternates
