I was laid off a few months back and I have now become self-employed, but building a sustaining business is no easy task. As a result, I have added a Paypal 'Donate' button as well as Adf.ly download URLs to this thread. This pack is and always will be free, but please consider donating (if you have a few bucks to spare) or using the Adf.ly download URLs if you enjoy the pack! Your donations and Adf.ly revenue will help to keep my internet and electricity turned on so I can stay alive and continue to update the pack :wink.gif: If you encounter an ad/offer which CANNOT be skipped, simply click the Adf.ly download URL again, you should get a 5-second ad instead.
Alright, bro for custom fire just make a texture like you would custom water or lava and have the image 16 pixels wide and however many you want long. Each 16x16 tile is a new shot for the fire animation. Then make a copy of the file (unless you want different fire) and name each file custom_fire_n_s and the other custom_fire_e_w. If you need an example you can check the fire in my packs.
Thanks for the heads up. I suck at animations but when I get some time I'll play around with it.
Sorry to double-post, but... NEW RELEASE! v10 is up!
v10 -- MAJOR UPDATE -- 7.4.2011
Happy 4th of July! This release includes re-designed items, as well as a new arrow design. I also re-designed the Redstone Repeater in terrain.png, it should be much easier for new players to understand. Almost all the items have been re-designed to match the pack. The current exceptions are the items used in making inks, records, and fish; for the time being those will continue to be Minecraft defaults. In addition, I have corrected alignment and scale on many of the items I had already designed for the pack.
I used the previous item set (which was still mostly vamediah's items) as an inspiration for a lot of the items in the new item set.
At this stage, SineCraft as a whole is nearly complete. I am gaining interest in doing the mobs, but I have no idea how to skin for Minecraft; if anyone has any tips for me, they would be greatly appreciated!
And just for fun, below is a current preview of the v10.x set, including items.
NOTE: DO NOT TRY TO USE THE FOLLOWING IMAGES IN-GAME! THEY WILL NOT WORK! DOWNLOAD THE .ZIP FILE INSTEAD!
Skinning mobs is very easy. Just think of each texture as one of those paper things you cut out and fold into something. I used to have a thread I found that had all the skins labeled, but I can't seem to find it. You can find a skin template for the character skin which is also used by the zombie, skeleton, and pigzombie. I'll keep looking for that thread and I'll post in this thread if I find it.
Found it. Not sure if it's the one I used but it works. Click this thing
I have re-designed the records and modified the minecarts in items.png. In addition, I have modified the boat skin color palette. I will leave the v10.1 release notes here since it was only up for a short time:
v10.1 -- In this release, I have included new textures for the minecart. I have also made various small tweaks to items.png. The only things left are paintings and mobs! I am planning on doing at least some of the mobs for the next release, unless Beta 1.8 hits and there are new blocks/items.

Thanks, it makes a lot more sense with those templates. I'll try to get working on some mob skins for SineCraft v11. I also need to do the minecart but still have no idea how it should be done. I was thinking of keeping the default skin but doing a palette swap on it to make it match SineCraft iron, but I'm sure it could be done better.
The aim of Sinecraft was to create a simple texture pack in which every block was still distinguishable. It was a lofty aim, right up there with creating an Eiffel Tower that isn't too pointy and an ocean that isn't too wet. Oh how I make myself lol.
Anyway, I downloaded and tested Sinecraft and now I'm going to tell you about my observations so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it is worth downloading the pack and installing it and then playing it yourself. Because that's how I roll.
The first thing I noticed about Sinecraft was that it was pleasantly blocky. The original Minecraft textures are fairly blocky themselves, but this was a new kind of blockiness, a smooth, bordered blockiness that would probably have a martini on Wednesdays.
Cobblestone looks awesome in this texture pack. In fact, the whole thing has a sort of muted Lego appeal, which I enjoyed immensely. All in all, construction textures are very well done. The wood textures reminded me very strongly of a plastic toy that I haven't seen or played with in years (which makes sense because now I am an adult I play with toys on the big plastic box full of circuits, not on the carpet, that would be juvenile.)
These textures are so evocative that I can almost smell them. You know the smell, the fresh plastic smell. If you licked them they would be smooth with just a hint of chemical bath aftertaste.
Glowstone is particularly nice I think, it has a lovely stained glass appeal that works well in most glowstone applications, which are, lets face it, all about the lighting. The original glowstone texture is far too 'raised in the Nether' for my liking and never goes well in my soiree rooms.
Glass isn't too bad, though if you're not using it as a window, you're out of luck as usual. It is framed, but in the case of this texture pack the frame actually makes some kind of sense.
This is actually one of my favorite 16 x 16 texture packs. A lot of these simple texture packs get carried away with simplicity and make everything seem bland and boring and dull. This texture pack, on the other hand, imparts a great deal of character.
Terrain textures take a little bit more getting used to. Blocky grass is an interesting effect, as is blocky sand. They work though, in the context of the texture pack. The only texture I was disappointed with was smoothstone, because it looked less impressive than cobblestone, which messes you up if you designed with the base texture pack in mind, in which smoothstone is far prettier than cobblestone.
I love this pack.. I am totally putting it on my top 5 Texture Pack list.
My opinion :
Pros :
Mosaic feeling is WONDERFUL it is over the top extraordinary! I love the colors of all the ores and the cobble stone and the GUI. The items are so well done , it makes me actually have a different feel of MineCraft when I Play with this Texture Pack.
Cons :
The grass.... it feels kinda darkish , so do the leaves , they give the game a depressing feel...
But I try to put that feel apart and enjoy the rest. Overall its fantastic

oh ****, youre back and I missed it!
I always loved this pack because of the dark, simple artstyle it had, but suddenly it was outdated and I was too dumb to update it myself, and didnt see the fanupdates.
Great pack!Looks awesome and you did a really good job with a 16x16 resoloution! However, when I install the pack my minecraft can't read it and says it's an unidentified pack=(
Hi all! Before I get to the replies, I wanted to make all of you aware that someone has apparently been trying to steal SineCraft and re-release it as 'Cubecraft' on Planet Minecraft. NorthernerSouth brought this to my attention and sent me the URL; however, the submission has already been removed, so I was not able to see this for myself.
I wanted to ask all of you to please keep your eyes open. If you see someone trying to pass SineCraft off as some other pack, please let me know. Thank you, and I hope all of you continue to enjoy SineCraft!

Thank you for the honest opinion! I can see where the pack would be a bit on the dark side for some.

Welcome back :tongue.gif:
Thank you, but don't worry; you haven't missed a thing. 10.2 is the definitive SineCraft release up to this point :wink.gif: And I'm glad you enjoy the pack!

Thank you! I haven't encountered the problem you're having with the pack, but I'll try to help you in any way I can. First, I would try re-downloading it from the direct URL; it's possible that you ended up with a corrupted zip file. Also, what version of Minecraft are you running? It shouldn't really matter, but I'd make sure you're running 1.7.2.
Eh, I guess some people like to profit from the work of others, but in this case I don't see how they would have. Thanks for the URL to the mob templates. I've been playing with them but I'm having trouble coming up with anything; textures are pretty easy for me, but the mobs are hard :sad.gif:
In this release, I have added support for the Aether's new/modified GUI files. If you use both SineCraft and the Aether mod, you'll definitely want to grab this update. No other files have been modified -- if you DO NOT use the Aether mod you can skip this update. Please note that this update is only to keep the Aether mod visually consistent with SineCraft from a GUI standpoint; I have no intentions of creating textures or items to replace those in the Aether.
v11.1 brings various small tweaks and fixes to things that have been bothering me for a while :biggrin.gif: I have fixed a bunch of alignment issues in items.png, and I have tweaked the designs of some of the items (most notably Diamonds) to better match the pack or the inventory squares. In addition, I have fixed some alignment oversights in the Aether GUI files; the Enchanter and the Incubator GUI's should look correct when they are being used now.
