Sorry that I did not release an update over the past weekend. I've been really busy with work. I did do some work on the pack though, and I will try to release an update by the end of this coming weekend at the latest. All of the little tweaks and dislikes mentioned in this thread will also be addressed in the next release.

This is a beautiful pack. At first i thought it was going to be a generic simple pack, but it was so much more. The mosaic style really works wonders.
Thanks! I'm glad you like the style of the pack.
Quote from LupineBlade »
This pack is far too good to be lumped with the horde of 'simple' texture packs around. I love the mosaic feel that everything has--the lava, especially, is absolutely fantastic. Really shows what you can do when you're going for a distinctive style.
The one (very minor) complaint that I have is that iron and gold blocks are too light, and as somebody who likes to use expensive accents occasionally, that becomes noticeable and somewhat irritating. Also, it might look a little bit better to do some of the other ores/minerals in the way that you did Lapis Lazuli; I personally prefer ores to be spread out through the stone.
I'm adding this into my rotation of most-used packs. :biggrin.gif:
I was worried that the lava would be too noisy for people. I'm glad to see that someone thinks it's good :biggrin.gif:
About the ores ... you know, when I was first doing the pack I considered doing the ores with every mosaic piece colored to match (i.e. same way I did the Lapis.) I didn't because I was worried that the ores wouldn't blend in with stone too well. On the other hand, I think you have a point. When I do the next release I'll see if I can tweak all the ores a little to make them stand out more.
As far as the colors go, I chose the same colors used in the iron and gold ingots in items.png. I'm not sure how I could improve on those and still make them distinctive in the dark. I'll think about this for a while.

404 Not Found.
Meh, not exactly unique. I've seen it lots of times. Not as often as 502 Bad Gateway, but still...
Quote from Airandius »
Fix the links or post a video please. All I get now are 404's.
I really don't know why you guys are getting 404's. Both the screenshots and the download URL work fine from my end, even if I use I.E. 8 (which has a totally empty cache because I don't use it.) It's also working for everyone else, or seems to be. Maybe it's your ISP, your browser, or a bad DNS node somewhere that is keeping you from viewing the screenshots and/or downloading the pack. Sorry it's not working for you.
Love most of it! Although the block-breaking progress thingy sucks. Try something else, I"m sure you are capable of something good!
But I like the progress indicator! :biggrin.gif:
I dunno, I just think it goes better with the modernist approach of the pack. I'd rather make it so that the mosaic pieces on the blocks appear to 'light up' in a sequence when you mine them, but then it wouldn't match the blocks that don't use the mosaic style. But maybe I can do better... we'll see. And thanks for trying the pack!

I like the appeal of this texture pack. To me its like a cartoony version of the Painterly Pack and the RPG pack. this pack.
Thanks! Cartoonish isn't exactly what I was going for, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess different people will see different things when they look at the pack, and that's okay :biggrin.gif:
Quote from aapinator »
I see what you mean and I take back what I said. It's awesome :-)
You don't have to take anything back :wink.gif: I am probably going to change all the ores anyways to make them more visible, so you're right in the end.
Quote from aapinator »
What I meant is that the grass is made up out of a lighter green, and a darker green. The darker part takes up the majority of the grass, whilst the lighter green takes up the majority on the plants. I don't know how to explain it but something is just off for me. Can't quite put my finger on it actually!
Anyways; keep up the good work!
I see exactly what you're saying now! When I revise the plants/flowers I'll try to make the primary colors a bit more consistent. And thanks!

In any case, I woke up this morning and everything is white thanks to a huge winter storm, so I get to stay home from work today. I'll work on the pack a little if I get a good idea.

This is a very nice texture pack, I'll download this immediately.
Thank you!
It's been a while since I checked up on this, looks awesome. Is that 303's hookshot? Also, yeah, creativity is hard. I'm a musician, so I kinda know.

Thanks! I am also a musician (acoustic guitar/singer) on the side so I know how that goes. Coming up with good ideas for textures is harder for me than coming up with a set list ever was :|
By the way, it is 303's hookshot :biggrin.gif:

Why not make 2 versions?
Quote from LupineBlade »
I would love a second version with a different progress indicator. That type of indicator has always kinda bugged me.
I can't ignore the masses :biggrin.gif: The next release will be two versions. Any ideas for what the second progress indicator should be like? Or should I just go back to the default cracking animation? I'll let you guys decide since you'll be using it.

Personally this is what I would like to see in at least one of the texture packs: Updated Flowers, Red and Yellow to match ingame, as well as Red colored Brick and Bricks to match ingame as well, not as bright, maybe more of a rusty/red wet oklahoma dirt color to them. And leave the Progress bar, I love that thing. And if possible I've noticed that the cobblestone looks more like bricks than anything else imho. Regardless of what you change and don't change I will continue to use this pack, I love your work! Keep it going it's getting more popular everyday. Btw, is there still a chance you can post a link to the HD texture package fix thingy? I still haven't been able to get the Lava/Water working.

I would think that a cracking animation that followed the shape of the most common 'mortar' (in other words, the space between tiles) would look pretty good.
Adding my voice to the chorus. This is now my texture pack of choice.
However, the new cobble-brick texture you use bothers me a bit. I believe this is because of the lines between the separate blocks being so dark. When seen against other blocks it feels kind of jarring.
Also the new cracking animation you've included is one of my favorite things about the pack.

Yeah, the bottom section of the cobble-brick has some jarring contrast. I think it's the white-black part.
New Release! v5 is up! SineCraft now comes in two flavors!
v5 -- MAJOR UPDATE -- 1.22.2011
With this release, the pack now comes in two flavors -- one with a totally new mining progress indicator, and one with the bar-style indicator from v3. The new progress indicator follows the outlines of the mosaic blocks. It won't match every block, but it will match the pack as a whole. While I was working on the new indicator I tweaked the cobble block to have less contrast. I also tweaked all of the ore textures, they should be more distinctive now. In addition, I changed the plant/flower textures back to red/yellow styles since they are now used in dyes.

Armor is blue? Then what color will the bubbles be? Gui looks very nice, btw.
Thanks! The bubbles are blue, but a different hue. They should still stand out enough.

No dude, don't go back to the original cracking, do something creative that appeals to your texture pack's style.

This is exactly what I've done for v5, thanks for the idea LupineBlade! I also split the pack with v5, so you can continue to use the old indicator if you want. I hope you guys enjoy v5!
Thanks for the update! Now I can get rid of my makeshift flowers. :smile.gif: Yours really fit the color scheme well. The new block breaking texture is nice, but a bit too light grey on some of the blocks, so I think I will stick with the original, so thanks for giving a version with the old one.
I just started patching to use your water and lava. I LOVE the lava, but I'm finding the water to be... too dark. It's cause of the texture with all the lines it makes my screen very striated when I move around. Just a few cents from me.
All in all, an excellent pack and a WONDERFUL update! Thanks!

The new cracking progress animation is also excellent.
I am conflicted.
I don't really see an appreciable difference in the cobblebricks, though. The lines between the individual bricks contrasting with the lines between the mosaic tiles on all the other blocks is what bugs me. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I weren't trying to use the cobble to patch up underground cave-houses, and just built a nice house on the surface.
Regardless of my continued complaining, I am pleasantly surprised by how quickly you made note of and attempted to address my whining. Thanks!

Well, you've got a point. I'll try to work on it for the next release. Maybe I'll make those lines the same color as the stone outline.
