anychance you could post a link to download your world? ide love to have a look round for inspiration :smile.gif:
I second that! I'd love to walk through Rome myself :happy.gif:
Well It will be up for public view in some way someday, but not until a vast majority is done. Right now it is (almost) uninteresting since it has very few completed streets (even though we have lots of buildings)

how about a couple of screenshots then? :smile.gif:
After reading a request here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=77939, I decided to create my very own texture pack based on Roman-style materials. I did not change a lot, since I wanted to keep the game similar to its original format. The look of the game hasn't changed much, except for building material, so that cobblestone is now Roman Cobblestone, brick is now Roman brick, et cetera. I am also working on perfecting Roman armor to replace the hideous default armors. :smile.gif:
README:
Stugace's Roman Texture Pack (16x16) - VERSION 3.0
INSTALLATION:
1.Copy and this file (Romecraft3.0.zip) and open Minecraft.
2. Go to the 'Mods and Texture Packs' screen.
3. Click 'Open texture pack folder'.
4. Paste Roman Mod.zip into this folder.
5. Return back to the Minecraft screen, and click the Roman Mod Icon. The background should turn to Roman
Bricks if done correctly!
Alternatively, You can do this directly at owner/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/texturepacks.
What this texture pack replaces:
-Armor
-Most Items
-95% of the blocks
-Default Character Skin
-Hostile Mob skins
-Inventory/Furnace/Crafting skins
0.91 FIX

1.00!
-Most textures now replaced!
-ARMOR FINISHED!

IRON: Legionnaire Armor
DIAMOND: Praetorian Armor
GOLD: Emperor Armor / Dress Armor
- New GUI!
- NEW ITEMS!
- AHHHHH!
1.1 FIX
-Updated to MC BETA Version 1.2 by adding the new blocks, items, and mob.
- Fixed reeds
- Fix fix fix.
2.0
- 32x32 ARMOR
- Most terrain textures replaced and contrast increased!
- Wheat is now wheatier!
- Diamond item now is realistic!
- Dye items are in bowls!
- Doors now have windows! (Except iron)
- Wool is now Plasterwool! (Looks like Roman plaster for building houses!)
- Real Roman paintings in 32x32
2.1 FIX!
-Darkened and roughened brick to match the theme.
- ROMAN SANDSTONE! (Forgot to make it for 2.0 :sad.gif: )
3.0
- Almost EVERYTHING is different from default now!
- Sand is more "Tunisian!"
- Hostile Mobs reskinned! (Except Nether)
- Grass is darker!
- Lupis blue block now resembles the rare Roman Blue Glass!
- Items slightly revamped
- Nether blocks completely revamped (from scratch)
- Water is bluer?
- Flowers look like clusters of flowers!
CURRENT ISSUES:
- Lead pipes still make redstone sprites, unsure how to edit them out at this time.
PLEASE tell me any errors/suggestions you have for me. I cannot improve without second opinions!
Right now, the texture pack is only available in 16x16, but later I plan on creating it in 32x32. (Which will make the armor look 10x better!) All of my textures (for the most part) were copied from Roman examples, so the color is MOSTLY right, except that Roman brick varied a ton.
Once again: PLEASE leave suggestions and error reports, I cannot improve this pack without your input!

It's good to see your pack keeps improving. A little hint: If you are looking for a good Roman font for your banners and images, give Trajan a try. I'm sure you will like it.
Oh, and while your texture pack is good, your Latin could use a little work :tongue.gif:
I'll give it a look, thanks! Also, my Latin is perfect, whatchoo talking about? :tongue.gif:
Agreed, we Ancient Civilization texture-packs must work together and defeat those barbarian creepers!
Speaking of, you need to change those... to what is the question... maybe something involving explosives?

Awesome! Though I don't think Notch wanted a Roman-inspired theme. :smile.gif:
I know... but what though? I have my suspicions on an island theme. i've seen A LOT of water on my multiple map regenerations. Hell, i'm always forced to shelter on a bitty island.

Actually Creepers were adjusted a bit to be darker and a slightly different color scheme than the original.. but since they are so classic I haven't changed them radically. I do plan on re-editing the Zombie to have the chainmail barbarian armor on.
As for the theme/biome, I almost always get epic mountain ranges with either no water or scattered lakes (often forming natural, giant half-caverns). My friends seem to get island-themes all the time though. (H07Hawk *cough*)
So, I decided that I much rather keep improving my 16x16 pack than struggled with my 32x32 for a while. I am not satisfied with the 16x16 yet, and 32x32 is a huge hassle until I figure out all the textures.
But here is the 32x32 progress.
As you can see, not all of this work is my own, since I used a 32x32 default pack as a template. I forget which it was though.. anyway, it was going to be completely covered up by my stuff. You can see that I basically just detailed my existing blocks from the 16x16 pack further for 32x32 use. But as I got further through I got frustrated with patcher bugs, minecraft compatibility bugs, and my own lack of artistic skill at times. So, I will entirely finish my 16x16 before I even tread on HD.
... I like the look of 16x16 better anyway. :tongue.gif:

Woohoo thanks! Almost half of the views were downloads too (statistically speaking)!
Sorry I've slacked, I figured 3.0 would be my resting point so I can gather my inspiration again as I build my version of Rome.

Yes I did. No creepers allowed. The Romans hated those guys.

Comments before: Seriously, it's almost like Notch didn't give a **** about armor and just: "Leggings" -30 second pants drawing-, etc.
I'll give it a look, thanks! Also, my Latin is perfect, whatchoo talking about? :tongue.gif:
