Absolutely fantastic, as an archaeologist I can honestly say it looks like you have the textures spot on and it looks really authentic. Keep up the good work!
I hope to go down to study Rome someday soon, perhaps work with some archaeology teams if I can. However I cannot find the time or money to get down to Rome yet. Good to know an archaeologist approves, that means I got things right! Thank you.
Well, it's been a bit since I've had a progress update. I have been working hard on the pack when I've had the time, and I am slowly improving all of my textures to be the best they can be. Dirt is looking at a facelift, but I would like to show my new wood and see what the crowd thinks of it!
Also I worked on some new character skins to be released eventually, as well as brand new nether materials (So that you can go to Hades in style), redesigned wool patterns to be even more historically pleasing, and other small details! Also, Lapis blocks now contain the most elaborate Roman design I could find! (Due to their oddly rare nature)
I like the wood, unfortunately its been a while, and is still going to be a very long time before I'm build with wood again lol (sandstone on the other hand, I'm going to be seeing far to much of... so much digging to do). I will say the columns look excellent in that same picture.
I like the sandals on the new skin. Those may not be new at all though lol, I still use my own skin. Though I'm thinking of changing it to fit this texture pack, mine looks a little out of place at the moment.
I like the glowstone in the nether, and the netherrack looks fine. I like that you've gone the dark direction with that, I hada texture pack that had bright orange and black netherrack, which I felt was kind of an eyesore. Any soulsand pictures?

There is soulsand in that picture, its the dark stuff on the right side of the first pic :wink.gif:
Ahh, I thought that was just more netherrack in the shadow of something, looking closer I can see the differences. That actually looks very nice, something I don't usually say about soul sand lol.
Ancient Rome is my favorite topic of discussion. I shall now build an aqueduct for no reason as my house is already near the water. To bad the water physics require me to go down 1 for every 6 blocks(?) instead of the Romans 34 cm per km. Any suggestions on the block I should use?

...that would be a waste of time!

Probably stone/cobble/brick! Any of those materials would be realistic.
Absolutely brilliant, makes my Circus Minimus look pathetic! :smile.gif: I too plan on a 1:1 Colosseum, but have little inspiration to do so yet. Many diamonds for this :Diamond:. I wish I had the patience to build the full scale Circus Maximus, but it is hard to find time to make superstructures as well as the actual city. Plus I don't like the idea that the Maximus is longer than viewing distance!

Brick, to hard without hacking, and I was hoping for all white like alot of them you see in pictures. Which brings me to half steps, make them have a marble texture.
Edit You take those picks in a server or is Herobrine on the roof of that building behind you while showing of your skin

Unfortunately I will not release marble as a common resource, but it can be an easy edit to make half-steps into marble! This has been such a demand that I may make a "Historic" Pack and also a "Epic" pack, one of which has common historic resources, and the other has more marble-related resources.

Herobrine? no. Herobrus mincraftii? perhaps.
sorry, could not resist...
so for something on topic: you mentioned you had plans for dirt, anything for sand. The default sand has always been fine by me, but some packs change it, and sometimes its nice. Just wondering. Also wondering if you have plans to change the texture of ores. I havn't done much mining since downloading the pack, so I havn't actually seen redstone, gold, or diamond. So if they are changed I guess just ignore my question, but I don't think coal and iron are chagned so I assumed none are.

Sand Is actually entirely different, and yes, Ores are done too.
You should work on a mod for this. I would suggest horses and chariots, the roman short sword, roman sheild, lead piping for water (or lava) and the ability to create legions of soliders to fight and counquer the wilderness, workefs to make sure all roads lead to Rome making it a first person RTS game.
Well I can dream can't I?

Well I really enjoy the texture pack so far, and there's very little to complain about. The style is very harsh and distinct, but I feel that aspect is very accurate. The one thing I would like to see changed is windows in the iron doors. I typically use iron doors in situations where there may or may not be a mob sitting on the other side. With a window in the iron door, I'm free to swing away, but w/o the window I find myself fighting blind, hoping to hear zombie grunts on the other side.
I'm sure you have your reason for the way they are now, but personally I've come to rely on door windows of some sort.
This texure pack is amazing, really. I think that the best texture packs are based on themes, such as Glimmar's steampunk, doku, walls of babalon and of course you. This obviously has been a much awated themed texture pack and you really have out done yourself.
Can I just ask, are all the buildings and creations on the OP all by you by hand, invedit or a sever?
We used server spawning for the most part to build our city, though we laid every block by hand versus using programs to build domes/walls/etc. Also, thank you. I'm glad you like the pack :smile.gif:

Most people use Wooden doors for average use, thus why that door now has a window. I haven't known too many people who used iron doors except for security reasons on servers, or for fun. Unfortunately I do not want to put a window in the iron door, as it will be be simulating a fancy bronze door in the newest update - for temples!

Goes well with the 1:1 Colosseum and Circus Maximus on theHangover's server.
