If you check Modloader is now comes with grass fix, so you could have ther biomes also. Cpt. corn, maybe make a terrain.png for said mod? I already made one but an official one would be nice. :biggrin.gif:
Does this mean that I can get one download that can guarantee biomes for all downloaders? Not only this, but does this also allow me to change the biomes themselves?

If so, then I'm definitely adding this!
Yes, you can create biomes, If you're referring to he grass and leaves texture, just update he foilagecolor.png and grasscolor.png. Uhh, I don't fully understand the message, but in order for downloaders to get Quandary Reborn side grass biome colored, they'll have to install modloader and the texture pack, I would show you the terrain.png that I slightly edited so that it would work, but I've no idea how to upload photos to the forum or anything, sadly. Hope that answered your question(s).
Well that answers one of my questions... I never knew you could use this mod to have biome-colored side grass, that would surely solve the problem! (even the original Quandary.)
But as for my first question... I wanted to know if I can have one download rather than two separate ones for those who use Macs and those who don't, because if this mod can generate biomes for Mac users, then I will only need one download.
If you happen to find Quandary Reborn not quite to your tastes and would like something Quandary-like with fewer changes, you might want to check out this thread. I tried out Reborn, found it changed too many things, and gave up. I then lucked out finding this other thread, which had some Quandary replacements that were more like the original: some subtle changes that improved the whole look.

Perhaps I can make a special version of Quandary, with nearly no change at all... to satisfy hardcore Quandary fans.
Also, maybe for a limited time I have released an alternative version that includes biome compliant grass sides. This requires editing terrain.png to work. I have included the original fixed. You must fix your own texture packs. I'm not telling you how. You should know how to edit an image, (Don't use Paint!).
Cpt. Corn,
I wanted to thank you for responding to me earlier and I wanted to provide a more detailed explanation as to why I made the switch to default until Quandary is updated on your thread as you had asked. I think it's great that the community is allowed to create, distribute and use different texture packs to suit everyone's individual style. When the game was updated to include colored wools and Quandary hadn't been updated yet I found your texture pack and forced myself to play with it for a couple of days to see if it was any good. At first I liked that many of the textures that Quandary used were being recycled into your texture pack but after building many things using yours I decided to switch back to default until Quandary had been updated.
The problems I have with the texture pack are the textures you had made changes to from the original Quandary pack. First of all I don't like how the splash screen and menus have had their colors and style changed from the original. I find the dirt to be too dark (it looks like moist dirt for farming) and unfortunately the majority of our worlds are made up of dirt and grass (above ground anyway). The workbench, chest and wood plank look way too clean and reminded me of the Clean Lines texture pack.
The two textures that really made me change back to the default until a suitable update was released would be the wool and cobblestone textures. Quandary's wool looks more like textured drywall while yours looks like un-textured, flat drywall which makes it difficult to distinguish the individual blocks as they tend to blend in to each other. The best part of Quandary's cobblestone was that it was almost the same as the default but instead of the horrible black lines it had a more bluish gray coloring to it which made me WANT to actually build things out of cobble. Your cobble completely changed the overall look of the original cobble to a brick look. That would be great but we already have a red brick block that is more appealing and the cobble stone is supposed to be rocky looking not brick.
Quandary was great at making very subtle improvements to the default texture pack without completely removing the feel of it but your texture pack looks like a fusion of Painterly (one of the worst ones IMHO), Clean Lines (another horrible one) and some textures pulled from Quandary, which when combined removes that feeling of the original texture. Since the texture pack has changed so much you would probably be better off renaming your texture pack to something not linked with Quandary (you don't even offer seasons, like they did before the biome update, but then again they don't yet either) and stop posting your texture pack as a suitable "replacement" for Quandary on Quandary's own thread.

First of all, I am glad that you have shown me why you didn't like my pack, you have many points I'd like to discuss.
And I know I cannot satisfy everyone, but I want at least satisfy a true Quandary fan. May it be that I'm not advertising on the Quandary thread anymore, so you have my word.
I've always thought of this texture pack more of a pack that yearns to reveal Minecraft's true form, so some of the default textures were thrown out for "better" one because they did not satisfy the fervor that the people of Minecraft desired. For I know that at the same time, I wanted to spruce up the default textures as the original Quandary intends it... and I have gone against that, and at the same time... I am all for it.
Quandary was the best texture pack the whole Minecraft community could offer! So I started from there... It had sprites that were the best I've ever seen... but then it lacked gui menus, so I added Painterly's ones (I couldn't beat menus as good as those)... and then it lacked armor models and a sleek title screen, so I made my own. I added bonemouse's cobblestone (the brick one) and many people loved it! So forth it became less like the original Quandary, but in all hopes and efforts that it would even be better than the original... and it all comes down to opinion.
I personally dislike Painterly and simple textures when it comes down to it. Except, Painterly had really nice water and gui menus as I've mentioned before... so I edited the water to make it "better." Then lava came into mind, so I made my own, except for the flowing lava which is based off of Painterly...
And thanks to many contributors of my pack, including yourself, to whom have critiqued and or adored my work with my "progression to perfection" mentality, the pack got better with every update. And so it came down to this... dirt became more moist and many people liked the change... bonemouse's cobblestone was added and many people liked that as well... then the wood planks became a challenge: less noise or more noise? what is the largest majority of people I can satisfy?.. and it came down to the Axapez standard... Then the wool I made was too simple and then it got better with the next update... and for the whole time I wanted to be for the people the Minecraft, and I forgot about the Quandary fans in the mix... for those who expected Quandary... not an overhaul, not something that has been reborn as the name entails it.
So... if there is one thing that I will do for your sake, it is too bring back the Quandary everyone loved! To spruce up the default textures! Such as that I will give Quandary fans, such as your self, what you have wanted in the first place. To bring back the seasons! That is what I must include in my pack, if not, in a separate download.
To be honest, I would support not calling this Quandary Reborn anymore. The pack is its own distinct pack, not just some cheap knock off catering to Quandary Fans.
Yeah, it looks different than Quandary, and people seem to hate that. If anything, changing the name would give people one less thing to complain about.
Anyway, to the people complaining about you changing too much from the original pack you made, I say this: Look at Painterly. Look at Brown and Bloom. Look at Eld Pack. Compared to other top notch (even if I don't really like them) packs, Quandary is as close to the default as possible without looking bad. Yeah, it's not as subtle as Quandary, but this looks a lot more lush and nice. The original dirt, for instance, was really dusty and disgusting, and the new terrain is much more pleasing to the eye.
Anyway, I say that this is better than Quandary. Quandary is much more subtle, but this is a lot more eye-pleasing. That's why I didn't switch back to Quandary when it was updated.
Except cobblestone. That still makes me mad to look at. It mocks me....
Oh, and on the subject of the vignette....I'm all for it being there and liked its effect, but I don't like the blue hue it gave off. If we could get the same darkness effect without wearing stained blue goggles, I'd be plenty happy.
Edit: Look at that, you've also given a very strong argument for it. Meh, I'm still responding, because I like saying things. And I still love that I was part of the 'influence' argument. I'm so special!
Many of the things Bdigital said are true imho. Others are not.
I dislike the new sun with passion. And changing the original mobs and even the paintings (done by Kristoffer Zetterstrand) would make me cringe.
I am ok with most of your blocks though (like the clean wool and planks), but removing the vignette was a very bad move to me. It did something that defined the original Quandary: a subtle change improving the atmosphere.
I loved your pack at first and have been using it for some time. But as Yoda would say: "Joined the dark side, you have!" The subtle changes Quandary did to the original have been washed out by the drastic ones that you implemented over time. It would be fitting if you would stop referring to your pack as "Quandary", because it really got too far off.
What would you like your sun to look like, perhaps a sun that looks great when it rises and or falls in the sunset? And the vignette.png I will put it back.
As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
And I think your right, I have joined the dark side, I have. But I can always come back! To the light, I shall!

You are very special to me, Axapez. As for bonemouse, Master7432, Morgus, daveking, dctrjons, windowsguy and many more...
Being that this pack is truly, an eye-pleaser and not as Quandary-relevant as it says it to be... so for the second time, there might be another name change... as you said yourself, it would give true Quandary fans one less thing to complain about...
So I have two options:
One: Provide true Quandary fans what they were asking for in the first place alongside my own take as a texture pack. This keeps the name in good standing.
Two: Continue the dream as an eye-pleaser, to improve the gameplay and fervor of Minecraft! We just need a new name is all to eliminate the confusion.
Any ideas for a good name if option two becomes the case?
Off-topic: It seems that everyone, including my self, show that they are offline, when in fact some are online.
Oh, and I don't quite understand, Axapez... Do you like our cobblestone or not?
Anyways, I'm bringing back the vignette.png!
-I have new sandstone, more natural.
-More moss for the moss stone (new name for mossy cobblestone apparently).
It's all coming in v1.9, unless of course there's a new name...
Two: Continue the dream as an eye-pleaser, to improve the gameplay and fervor of Minecraft! We just need a new name is all to eliminate the confusion.
I would suggest this.
The reality is you've produced a good, unique texture pack. And you've gained fans for it. It makes sense to cater to you and your vision as well as those fans.
TheLink has produced an exceptionally faithful pack to the original Quandary. I'm not sure there's much point in doing the same. And hopefully, eventually ExtraNoise will come back and produce and official update.
You will never be able to please everyone. I admire you desire to, but in the end, it will probably be an exercise in frustration.

Give my best wishes to TheLink. He is making Quandary fans happy after all.
Now, since option 2 seems the most prominent solution, what could the new name be? or should I just have a warning listed above... :tongue.gif: (probably not.)
And here's a thought, with the ModLoader and Grass Fix, is it possible to bring back the seasons? because I think its accomplishable now...
May it be that perfection is impossible to achieve, it should always be a goal to get as close to it, with all good sanity when it comes down to it.
No, I don't like the new cobblestone. It seems just way too neat for my tastes. For me, the neat, well patterned appearance should be reserved for brick and stone slabs.
My personal favorite would have it being in rough, organic looking shapes (similar to the vanilla cobblestone, but a big less rugged and ugly, if that makes sense). For a good comparison, looking at the standard cobblestone, but with thinner, smoother lines would probably work best. Then again, it could end up looking horrible, but you never know.
As for the problem with the sun, I think that the thing wrong with it is that the sun itself is much more pronounced than the rays around it. It looks very sectioned, instead of being seamless. The same with the moon when I think about it, but not as 'bad' as the sun. Smoothing the edges between the square of the sun and the rays of it would probably work best. That, or...
Yep.
Edit: I made a real picture of what would actually work.
So it's not the best example, but I tried to make it a lot more seamless in the sky, instead of having a block and then the rays from what appear to be behind it. Don't actually use this, it would make me cry.
Oh, and one thing that's bugged me for a while, why does meat look so crazily red? It almost looks bloody. I mean, yeah, it fits in that you're punching a pig to death and then ripping its raw meat from its mangled, bloody corpse, but...maybe make it look a bit more, you know...appetizing?
Edit: 3 words? Simple, lush, flowing (seamless, nothing seems hard edged or jagged)
Please do not change anything for me. I was just giving feedback because I know you appreciate it. And I would not dare to force my opinion on an artist of your caliber.
Your pack is still one of the best packs out there. Your ability to communicate and deal with criticism is outstanding & mature. Please continue improving your Cpt.Corn-Pack as you see fit. It might not be Quandary Reborn and it might not please everyone but I am sure it will continue to be amazing.
I'll only change things if it looks better than before...
And I really do appreciate feedback! :biggrin.gif: (even if it's bad feedback.)
Morgus, I want you to wake up from your new Beta 1.3 bed and see a sun rise with great pleasure! So that's what I want to add, as long as the sun looks good from all angles of the sky.
I just need a good name is all, anyone have any good names? Rather, tell me what this pack is mainly about in three words, so then a name can be coined easier...
Did you install any item mods before the Beta 1.3 update? That may be the cause.
I'm asking you, as a friend... Just...put an end to me.

And by the way, is the gray grass fixed? I recall you had a problem with it a long time ago.

Curse PremiumGive my best wishes to TheLink.

Curse PremiumI'll only change things if it looks better than before...

Curse Premium"The Halcyon Texture Pack"
Halcyon: peaceful; undisturbed; happy.
Anyone got any better ideas? I'll post more names and see what you think...
