Guys, remember when Cpt. Corn wanted someone to do a classic version of Quandary? And I did this?
So, I failed.
Lol
I'll make a classic version myself, I guess. It shouldn't be too hard. But I will have to perfect the wool first.
If their is something I really want someone to do it is to make a video featuring my pack. The videos I have now are severely outdated! So if someone does make a video and I like it, then I will feature a link to it on this thread.
Whoah....what's with that lava? It looks waaaaaaay too red for it. What happened to the old lava?
The old lava didn't look like it could flow with its rocky texture, like I could walk across the rocks.
That... and it was a lot easier to make an animation with hot, smooth lava. But if you want a better color scheme then that will be a snap! But if you want the rocky textured lava back, then that will take some time to make a seamless animation.
Maybe I could try a different color scheme.
Many pictures like these show that lava has no rocky chunks.
Oh, and in addition, since Quandary has been known to "spruce up the default textures", I find rocky chunks from the original Quandary to be an overhaul compared to default.
I'm fine with a more liquid texture, but just...don't make it so pasty. It looks really weird. Maybe give it the treatment you gave wood (little speckles, barely visible, to give it texture)?
Oh, by the way - here's something I noticed.
The entire world has a blue tint when I have the pack on. When I hold F1, the tint goes away, and when I release it, it comes back. Try it yourself - do you notice a subtle color change?

The vignette.png is responsible for the big color change. Apparently when you hold F1, you disable the vignette.png... and since it is brown, disabling it makes things brighter.
And I like it how the lava flow looks when I used F1, it looked more radiant, which I like. :biggrin.gif:
So I'm thinking about changing it up...
Oh, and my bro figured out how to use both the wildgrass and custom water/lava at the same time, which is cool.
Really like Quandary Reborn. There are texture packs out there, where I like individual bits more or have a stronger theme (like jolicraft or Glimmar's Steampunk texture), QR is one that is sort of the nicest "default" looking pack to me. Can't really go wrong with it.
And ditto on the lava texture: the texture itself is pretty nice, but it should look less red (radioactive ketchup comes to mind...). Since it's animated, pulsing between an yellow-ish orange and the current colour could work...
I tried "removing" the vignette.png and that pretty much did the job. :smile.gif:
But a pulsing lava... maybe. I'll try it out. I always look at the Nether's sea of lava just do I know I got the correct effect.
Just downloaded jolicraft and I really like the style of the pack, but it overall doesn't suit me. But there are elements I think that I particularly like.
-I think the birch bark is near perfect, close up and far away.
-The gravel looks closer (stylish wise not colors) to what I would think gravel would be. Although this pack looks like dirt with gravel in it, it does convey gravel better to me than vanilla does. Problem is, gravel beaches, I forgot about gravel beaches. It appears they are part of the MC biomes and I'm not sure if changing the overall gravel look/style would kind of ruin them. So, I'm torn about a change.
I am having an extremely frustrated time trying to create another poll.
Apparently when I create a new poll, the options from the last poll won't stop showing up. The poll I intend to have looks just how I wanted it to be when I preview it, but when its submitted... there are ten options from the earlier poll as well as the recent attempts.
Anyone got any experience with this?
Late to the party, I know, but anyways, it's a phpBB bug (I've never been able to track down the cause of it, exactly) and to solve it, you'll need to delete the poll itself. If you can't, ask a mod or admin to remove it.

Thanks for the info, Obsidian_. Good to know someone had an answer. :biggrin.gif:

I'd have to check that out for myself...
I overlooked gravel beaches, so thanks for the help!
So I saw Jolicraft, and there are a couple of things I like about it. One, the netherrack was a deep red which worked very well with my lava, as well as the fact that this netherrack brought out the true color of hell! I also like the birch texture, it was seamless and it was the best birch I'd ever seen.
I find these two textures the basis on what I should include in Quandary Reborn.
I've been looking around, I think a little more texture wouldn't hurt.
...
really wish I could design and example myself but I think I can find ones that are pretty close to my idea
...
Painterly
+good color range
-too, fabric-y?, cross pattern-y? like burlap.
Authentic 32
+good color and interesing texture BUT
-Too lumpy, high contrast transitions, like a scruffy wool sweater from a great aunt. (flashback)
John Smith, my favorite sorta.
+I like the 'pattern'
-Too higher detail, too busy, too large of shade range (if that makes sense)
To me I think the wool blocks should look a little less refined than 200 count sheets, but not like a shaggy towel. More of a fairly descent carpet.
Minecraft's I think is perfect for what is knocked off of a sheep. But, since there is no step to refine it and we like using it for various decorations, I think most prefer the subdued style you have.
I personally just think it looks just a tiny bit too refined. It seems more like textured wall paint than cloth to me.

I know a lot of people use wool as carpeting so I'll try my best to get it like that, but just enough so that my bedspread still looks awesome, if not, better than before. (hopefully...)
On another note, do you guys occasionally run into a 502 bad gateway when navigating in the forums? Or maybe its just me...

Curse PremiumI'm currently working on v1.7, but I just wanted you guys to know what could be next. :wink.gif:
Anyways, I'm having uploading issues.

Curse PremiumSame here.
I always use my Minecraft bedroom as a way to tell if the wool is good or not.
