hard Decision indeed.... the old long ones do look more like "wood planks".....
but I do like the other ones makes the would look Awesome
in flooring a home with hard wood it doesn't all have to be all the same length....
- I love Coterie Craft. It's the "new default" for me and my friends. I love the armor, weapons and tools sprites (don't change them), love the long planks, love the new cobblestone, love the pistons, love the ores.
- But not everything is perfect: I don't like the dark blueish menu GUI (i use the old one), and the new sandstone blocks are too pink for my taste. They doesn't go well with the sand, and i think that they need two remain yellow-ish...
Besides that, great work Cpt. Corn.
P.S.: Sorry if my english isn't very good, it isn't my first language and i learning it by myself.
Your English is pretty good, I must say.
But with regard with what you don't like, I do have intentions for improvement. I'd personally like to do away with all the GUI menus and make them look like an enhanced version of default's, however, I could also stylize them accordingly to the each GUI menu's purpose, but we'll see how that goes when such textures become the priority. As for sand and sandstone-oriented blocks, I do see that they are far too pink than they should, especially at night. What I'd like to do is find the proper balance of color just enough to make deserts and beaches more eye-appealing, while evading that uncanny level of pink that has concerned many individuals.
Yea, I understand your concern. Which is why I've textured the planks again, hopefully this time I got it right. However, as much as I want to release an update today, I can't. I've been swamped with scholarships, schoolwork, errands, job applications, and the fact that any updates to the pack as of April 1st will probably be seen as a joke.
But for now, while I'm trying to get all this taken care... tell me what you think of these planks:
Then, of course, the former planks as reference:
And, perhaps, the current planks as of v2.4.1: (which I'm not too fond of anymore; be gone with thee!)
And if there is one more thing that I must say... it's that I'm very worried about those who have made creations with the red and dark planks, because I'm going to switch them back as default originally portrayed them to be. Oh man, the transition is going to be like one heck of a troll. :|
Then I also have to update Plethora... blargh... So much to do... so little time.
The first picture of wood kinda looks like laminated wood IRL, but the second picture of wood looks cleaner. I see what you mean about the work, I got like three projects to turn in :/
After looking back at the woods, I have changed my vote. I kind of like the alternating planks better than the smooth ones, gives the default wooden plank feeling, and it isn't like bricks.
Referencing from the pictures above, which kind of alternating plank texture did you like more?
I like the planks shown in the first pic (personally), I think they are a good mix between the current
and the old, the new planks are to defined and the old are to drab.
The first pic is my personal favorite. I think the 2nd, which i'm pretty sure is the old wood, is a little to plain and smooth.
Well I'm glad that you recognize the old wood from the newer one. Aside from that, I'm thinking that the first picture's representation of wooden planks should be the official one... while alternates are made available in Plethora.
But unfortunately, I do not know if I will be able to carry it out, let alone a legitimate update, for some time. There are a couple of projects that require my utmost focus; so given that I am able to finish these projects early and fast enough, then my absence will seem unnoticeable. If not, whereas I procrastinate, then it will not look pretty for either party.
I absolutely ADORE this texture pack I have been supporting you since the beggining only just got an account for the forums so its the first time I can now thank you for this awesome texture pack!
I have always liked this texture pack but i am kind of getting tired of the color of the planks, i know there are alternates in plethora but none of them appeal to me, is there a chance that more colors could be added? Thanks!
Mr. Cpt. Corn, I absolutely love your texture pack, and I am thinking of making a 16x16 pack, and I was wondering if i could use a few textures, such as the glass, and the door, and you will get full credit, and i will even give you (and a few other packs) credit for inspiring me, is that alright with you? Thank you for your consideration.
I'd like to formally thank everyone for your support and contributions to this thread, as I have been absent for some time. But for as much as I'd like to reply to your posts, I must still reside in absence.
If you are unaware of what my motives are for doing so, then I'll inform you...
For the past few weeks, if not less than that, I've been anticipating many projects and tests with the upmost procrastination... and I must say, when that kind of thing goes through your mind, failure is not an option... and therefore, "distractions" are not an option. So I have put my work ethic aside from this pack and have garnered it into my schoolwork, for whom I still have so much more left to do... One key detail in this matter is that the tests that I am anticipating are actually National A.P. Exams. So forth, I pay $75 or so for each test I am to take (two in total for me) and if I pass, with which is in the rubric of 3 and above on a scale of 1 to 5, then I get a certain amount of college credits that will, in turn, save me money and time when I am conflicted with my general education in college. So clearly, it's critical that I study hard, while still having a project or two to haunt my work ethic.
I hope this inconvenience, with regard to the development in this pack, is understandable and I, again, thank those who exhibit their contributions within this thread, may it be by reading this announcement or by speaking your mind in a comment or two. I intend on returning on May 10th, the deadline of my last school project, excluding my Drawing I projects... but that shouldn't be much of a worry after having taken the AP Psychology exam on the 7th and the AP Art History exam on the 8th. I hesitate to say, "wish me luck," but if that is an intention that you wish to bestow then go on ahead, I'm just thinking that I won't need luck if I study hard...
I love this texture pack! Whenever I see my brother playing with the default texture pack on, I'm like, "WTF it's so ugly!" There is one thing I noticed though. The sides of grass blocks don't seem to color right for the biomes. Not anything big.
Hey, it's me again for I don't know how manyith time, but i was looking at some posts and i noticed alot of people were saying they thought that the sand was to pink well, I agree, and this was just for personal use but I changed the colors of the sand, and sandstone to a bit more sandy color, and I was wondering if it would be alright to post it here, do I have your okay Cpt. Corn? I know your busy, and I will wait for your reply.
