To me wool, workbenches and chests are quite noisy. Get a better monitor.
What I really like about this pack is the overall atmosphere. How everything gets more blueish/cooler at night (must be that vignette-thingy) is just brilliant.
I dislike the new sun though. Watch it rise and you'll see what I mean.
Does anyone else not like this? Or is it that people who don't like it can't be bothered to comment? I absolutely loved this, and you've made it into that filthy thing....simplecraft.
What don't I like about it?
1. Cobblestone isn't made of cobbles but crafted bricks now.
2. Glowstone is made of pumpkins now...
3. Obsidian looks like I don't have enough light up, during the day.
4. Wool is almost a plain colour. The original is better, and for a supreme example you have painterly's tweed.
5. Workbenches and chests are bereft of their careful shading! They're too simple and as a result look disgusting. Either that or you've made the colours so that they are msre sickly than usual.
6. Torches have strange metal attachments. Make additional brackets by all means, but fanciful iron spikes? Yuck!
7. Absolutely no gradient on ice. it's a single block of colour.
8. The armour looks like it's half empty.
Those were all things that I immediately noticed on a standard map of mine-a new-ish mine. It seems to me that you've removed the soul of the thing ;-;
On the positive side, I was glad to see you didn't change the tools and I really liked your work with the armour. Your cobble texture wasn't too bad (suitably crumbly) and at least you've made an effort. I don't expect much to come of this post but I thought you should know why I hated some of the things you've done.
You may just need a better monitor like Morgus said.
But other than that, I am quite glad and disappointed to see your list of criticisms. Chests and possibly wool, you may have a point, but as for nearly everything else... I think I would have to follow through with a larger majority perspective. Usually if more than one person agrees on a certain thing, I will do what they say.
I have an HD 1080p monitor so I may not see what your seeing. Even if this is a 16-bit texture pack.
How about make it so it's similar to grass. Err, I mean how 2 different textures collide. Sand on top of somewhat looking sand "bricks", and the sands leaks down into the sand bricks/

But that would mean too many powder-like items! Unless I make them just right... with either a different shaped powder or a liquefied form of it (since dyes typically are used in a liquid state)... or... considering those two options with a dish or at least something underneath it. (but how would you craft a dish in the first place!)
Any recommendations?
Oh, lapis lazuli is actually used as a pigment, in case you didn't know. (I thought it was something Notch made up for a blue dye. )
You'll notice it's actually a rather thick powder, like moist flour. So your original bone meal texture is a good representation of it, but I wouldn't be able to tell it apart from sugar at all. Perhaps make it a substance like the dyes, but a bit finer (or thicker, if that works better)?
Also, I have to agree on the idea of cobblestone. Real cobblestone does look like a brick formation, but I don't think it fits well with the tone of the rest of the pack. I prefer it as the sloppy looking stuff there used to be. Perhaps making it a mix of the two - semi-rectangular blocks, but not enough to be considered 'blocky?'
Edit: I just noticed, the screenshots for the Q-Rb pack are a bit out of date. If I get around to it, I'll get a set of newer screenshots uploaded for you.

So the plan is to make colored dye sprites goopy and paint-like.
As for white/beige confusion with the sugar and bone meal, I could leave the bone meal as it is and replace the white-granulated sugar (a specific ingredient in portal cake) with a more natural sugar. Home-grown sugar cane should produce unrefined cane sugar.
Cobblestone. Yes, its brick-like. But when my bucket of water pours over flowing lava, it magically assembles brick-like cobblestone, which is quite unnatural. So its clear that a cobblestone mix would bring back that ol' Quandary style.
And you know I'll appreciate the screenshots. (But that's when you get around it, of course)
You can send the screenshots via private message, I would recommend.
That would also make you my second photographer as well. The first being windowsguy.
How about making the dyes thinner? I mean, less in general, for now. I liek you idea of using natural sugar, just make it a darker than beige color.
Yeah, I better get those dyes done... for now that is. Nearly anything is better than default. So hopefully I get around it today. The distinct shape of making the sprite to appear gloppy is a hard concept to conjure in my mind, I guess I'll just wing it, but with exceptional quality.
Natural sugar, as of preparation of my next official update, is looking pretty good, just need to tweak the outline of the sprite and it should be good.

and when is glowstone made of pumpkins...?
Perhaps I do need a better monitor. I have noticed a few problems recently with minecraft colours, although I'm not going to be able to get one anytime soon.
IMO lapis lazuli looks like the wool should. I can accept your majority point, although obviously the criticisms are personal-they wouldn't make sense otherwise.
The glowstone is now orange and yellow. It has the same colour scheme as a carved pumpkin face. The original glowstone is brown and yellow, whcih is quite a big change, and looks like some glowing "coffee-coloured" coals.
Nice to see this wasn't ignored :smile.gif: .
I can tell you that the lapis lazuli texture is incomplete, I plan on making it a much more smooth, dense material.
Glowstone is a representation of australium, a gold-like substance that glows.
And personally, I hate being ignored myself. So therefore, no one on this forum will be ignored, including yourself. :biggrin.gif:
Hah, I love that you used my picture of the sun for the main image! I'm so flattered.
While I was making the big field of blocks for displaying, I got to see every block, and now I get to do some more critiquing (complaining).
Sandstone....I can't even tell it apart from regular sand. I get that that's kinda the point, but it's almost impossible to tell the two apart. Why not give it the brick texture with the sand pallet?
Glowstone makes me think of candy corn. That's not bad, I just thought I'd point it out.
What are those knobs are Redstone dust? It looks...off, and feels really out of place. Maybe exchange the knobs for piles of redstone or something more subtle?
Finally, I love the appearence of the material blocks (gold, silver, etc.)...except for Lapis Lazule. It looks kind of muddy and gross, when real Lapis is very polished after being processed (like it would be when compressed into a block).
And finally finally, Pumpkins look kinda....oily. Maybe give the face a more carved appearance?

Your recommendations are likely to come into effect at the same time for my next update, so let's break it down.
I will do what I can about the sandstone, as long as I make good use of the three textures. For example, top and bottom are smooth as they are now, but the sides will be similar to crumbly brick (like bonemouse's sandstone texture).
Glowstone represents australium, a gold-like substance that glows... Man, do I like candy corn...
Redstone, knobs? I think you mistaken it with the unofficial update. But, regardless, I should remake the redstone dust trail... when necessary.
Lapis lazuli was incomplete from the start. I thought something is better than nothing (aka default), so I threw something together, and moved on with what was priority. Smoothness you can expect to come, but making it without a spamming pattern is a challenge!. I also think I should change up diamond, knowing that its just default with a better color...
I don't know where to start with pumpkins... I'll do that later.
Even though you didn't mention lava, it's 2nd priority. Because it looks horrible!
Oh, come now. Lava doesn't look that bad! Only problem with it is it's rather...blocky. As in, most other blocks in the game are rather seamless with each other - lava, not so much. Maybe give lava a better pattern to itself?

That's exactly what I mean.
It's just that there is this one chunk in the lava texture that spams a pattern... Not that I'll change the texture so much, just make it so that it flows smoothly.

Curse PremiumI never really finished that texture.
I want to eventually make it like sandstone, but I also want to make it to be an excellent building material for pyramids (as I would imagine).
I'll fix that when I get time.

By the way, this is an image of ground bone (bone meal):

Curse PremiumSo far I have every beta 1.2 sprite done except for the ink sac, rose red, dandelion yellow, cactus green, lapis lazuli, and cocoa beans.
Oh, and heres a thought... Should Notch add a sugar cube. I mean come on, its Minecraft, why not a sugar cube!
