Wow, Hiro's making a texture pack? Well, kinda. I got bored of Painterly and decided to start work on my own, inspired by these right here. They kinda got me thinking...
... How low-res can Minecraft get while still being just as functional (able to see ore, tell blocks apart, ect)? I settled on 2x2.
It's still VERY much a work in progress, and I have yet to see it in-game. Could any of you be so kind as to test it and post screenshots as I polish it a bit more? I'll update as more is completed.
It looks good (for 2x2) but, being a proud Atari owner, I'd like to point out that those brighter colours, aren't like that, the pallete of the Atari 2600 was only capable of duller, darker colours. :tongue.gif:
I'm not really trying to make it look exactly like the Atari. While I was working on it someone made the comment "Wow, Ataricraft? Looks like it," so I just slapped it in the title. Guess I have to remove it to avoid confusion, sadly.
So far, nobody's really telling me what makes it "blur to their eyes" or how I could define elements better. It would be nice if I could get some input on that.
Just do the pack as you want it to be. If you were to stop doing it after criticism from a single person or a few then you'll never do a pack. Make it, release it, watch ensuing hubbub.
I can't really give you suggestions on this pack it's going to be hard to carry this design beyond the basic blocks. Imagine a cow's face. Now imagine it made up of four pixels. hmmm. Maybe, like building a house, you need a center pixel. Perhaps a 3x3 pack would be doable.
Gee I'm sorry, I forgot that I'm the only person that likes to be able to tell what I'm doing in a video game.
This isn't creative, this isn't functional. I'm not saying to can it*, but for christsakes, your minecart tracks are just a blue tinted piece of paper!
*Actually I am telling you to can it.
Preaching to the choir, man. I like high-res texpacks as much as the next guy, but I just wanted to do a simple, silly little pack as a throwback to games past.
Saying something isn't creative in the texture pack forum is like walking into an art museum and shouting "This isn't art!" You're doing nothing but making people mad by saying that.
So yeah, I'm continuing my work on the pack. I'll get the nether-themed blocks and other stuff done soon, stay tuned!

Don't worry.

He'll eventually stop thinking he's so awesome and smart once he adjusts.

Problem?

everything possible is pixelized
i played with it and after a while everything started to blur to my eyes and workbenches and someother materials need to be more well defined.
Which elements of it seem to be the problem? I'm not really happy with some parts of it (not sure how to best do bookcases), so how could I tweak it?
Problem?
C'mon guys. The less I have to redo, the better.

Well gee that's constructive. Basically telling me to can it, that's what you're saying.

Acquire pixels.
