Recently i have been trying to modify some texture packs, but after modding either texture or item files, all white areas which should be transparent are set to white. How can i make these transparent again?

Excuse me! Do signatures no longer have a private sphere and the right to not be stared at at all times?
A: Make sure the picture editor shows transparency in those areas. (usually represented as a checkerboard)
B: Save your file as a PNG, not JPEG or anything else.
C: If it still dosnt work.... tell me:
A: The program you used.
B: If you see the transparency.
EDIT: You also cannot have clear colors in the game... doesn't work. Must be solid or 100% noting.

I am using a school-PC with administration security, and can therefore not download any of the said programs.
But i will buy a personal Laptop soon, and can then i'll finish my pack.

I use photoshop CS3 but, i DONT recommend you using Advanced adobe photoshop because its very hart to know what does every button do in photoshop, i dont know what paint.net looks like cuz my OS is SP2.Like soulscribe said, you can use paint but you need to export it to a program that supports transparency. if your parents had a computer ask them to let them use/borrow so you can edit your texture pack easily and calmly, instead of having a limited amount of time in the school library...

No, NEVER use paint. Use GIMP, Paint.net, or Photoshop. Something that supports transparency.
