I love this texture pack so far but the only thing I would like to see changed is the redstone repeater I can't really see which direction its pointing when I place it. All in all this texture pack is amazing keep up the good work!
Actually, that's a good point... I'll see what I can do to tweak that. Probably just end up looking a lot like the original pack version, but hey - if it works, it works.
So do I.
Anyway, looking at that nice, cinematic screenshot of the sunrise, I can't help but feel inspired. And after some large feats of brainstorming, I have come up with some ideas.
1.) World select, texture pack select, and the other menus like that could (somehow) be based on top of a crafting bench, or some other planning location.
2.) Inventory screens could all be on a piece of parchment to match the map (instead of physically viewing the items, you see a chart the character is keeping track of items on.)
3.) Since this is a fantasy pack, could you make some alternate sun and moon skins that would be a bit more fantastical in nature. I still haven't come up with a good theme for this, but I am sure we can think up something that fits. (This isn't to be a priority, just an idea to be planted now and harvested when ripe.)

All righty...
1 - I'm not sure how to go about this, as each menu button is hard-coded to work off the same graphic, and I'm not looking to program anything differently. I could certainly look at the button graphic again and figure something out a bit more fantastical.
2 - Parchment doesn't grab me as much as a sort of woodwork/iron brace-type-thing. Dolling the screens up more to look like a constructed piece, rather than a miscellaneous shape, as well as dolling each menu up to be associated with it's purpose.
3 - Sun and Moon are easily done. Moon could be a typical fantasy blue-moon-red-moon idea, with two orbs floating through the sky. The sun... Is a bit trickier, but just requires a bit of thought.
Sun + Moon, changing them to be kind of symbols for each - Have the moon be a crescent, but with a kind of alchemical ring of symbols around it. Same sort of thing for the sun, with a symbol for a sun with rings of symbols around. Give it a kind of "Astrological chart in the sky" feel.

Hmmm this could be good. If you don't mind could you post on here a crappy draft of the moon, just to see what it would look like

I kinda like the sigils in the sky idea...
Mate build huge glowstone compass rose on server I play on. Ornate lettering and fiddly bits just below cloud level. Looked bloody amazing and provided a handy navigation marker to all.
Astrological symbols ringing the sun and moon? Sounds good to me. Will they be still rings, or were you planning on making them orbit around the central sun or moon?
Btw, glad to see you updated, you still have the greatest Birch Log Texture ever for a 16x16 pack, the touch of ochre yellow in the bark makes it the perfect complementary building material for sandstone!
Only thing I have to say about the symbols around the sun/moon is make sure the symbols aren't too solid looking. Other than that, I like the idea. Also, if you do decide to do this for the sun/moon it'd give you an excuse for a alchemic looking GUI (I think I just made a word up). That is if you're into an alchemic style GUI. Personally I'd like to see this but am unsure how it'd work out. Well, that's my input I guess, do with it what you will.
The only thing I'm a little iffy on is spacing, but... Actually, no. I guess you can make the sun/moon files however big you want, and they just scale to size. I could make detailed images that would actually show up. Neat.
Don't think I can make them orbit the sun/moon without changing the coding, which again isn't something I'm looking to do, but a neat idea all the same.
(Thanks for the compliment, Dark. :smile.gif: Really glad you like the birch, and pack in general!)
As for an alchemical GUI, I'll be sure to incorporate a bit of whatever symbolism I use into the menus and such, but I don't want it to look like some magician's study. "Fantasy pack" to me means a look and feel that follows the fantasy world genre, not to cram anything and everything fantastical down your throat at every turn. Not that that's what you're suggesting. :tongue.gif:
But, yeah. It'll need some playing. And tweaking - lots of tweaking.
I'll see what I can do.
Also:
New Craft Bench and New Stone Half Blocks?
-The bench I just really like. It's a bit more clear than the current one, and very obvious as to it's purpose.
-The half blocks are in response to a request I had to make them fit a bit better with smooth stone. They work well on their own, as shown in the middle, but also integrate very nicely with existing stone walls.
The major concern I have with the stone slabs is that they don't look like they would work well for columns anymore (the marble pillar texture works great for Greek architecture)

And that IS an excellent point. Like I said, I'm not entirely sold on them just yet, but they're fun in theory.
I'm thinking what may end up happening is a middle ground between the two? Have them stay as marble pillar blocks, but tweaked slightly in the direction of the preview files.
It's got the original side ridges of the marble pillars, but isn't as white, this allowing it to blend better with smooth stone. Also, it's got the little indent/torch holder blip on top, which doubles to make some lovely floor patterns.

The moon should have the signs of the Zodiac around it, while the sun should have the symbols of the astrological planets around it.

Curse PremiumA bit better flow with itself and surrounding stone, plus a little torch holder space on top.

I love it.
