This is my first attempt at a pack. Been a long road....but the texture file is all mine (for better or worse). It's what I'm calling a "Dark Fantsy/RPG" theme. It's now in it's final stages as I've moved on to bigger (and hopefully better) things. I will still update this if I get requests or if something is off in the pack. I will also add mobs, cart, boat, and items.png while working on my new pack(s).
License: all the artwork in this pack is my own work. Listed below are all license and permissions for me to use any other artwork used in this pack. No one may re-use any of my original artwork, or any artwork used with the original artist's permission, in any other texture pack without proper approval.

This might just change that. This is an AMAZING texture pack. I love the half molten obsidian look, would look GREAT in portals. The redish mob spawner, and those torches are amazing though.
Not a fan of the sides of the snow blocks or the look of the lightstone though. Some unique redstone would be nice. Lines that aren't just dust. Using that symbol on the halfblock as a start for the corner piece, then moving on from there, would look pretty awesome in my opinion.
Also, its not Biome compatible. And it looks like you might of messed up the lava.
Overall, I would probably give it a 8/10. Awesome job. Keep up the good work.

Thanks....gonna go look over all that :biggrin.gif:
I didn't do the lava. I believe it's all from JS and works for me....but I dunno.
I DID do the water...and am proud of how it works for me. (but that's the whole animated/custom thing I still don't get)
I'm a noob as far as the biome goes. I just kinda use (for now) what the best use....but don't know what it turns out to be on others...
The symbol was a mistake gone good...will work on it :biggrin.gif:

As far as the lava/water goes, seems like all the testing I've done is pointing towards making sure you use the patcher. Works for me every time. Either delete the bin file completely and then patch, or just patch.
Updated with new cobble, mossy (tester), gravel, and added screens to the OP. Still tryin to figure the biome thing out. All I managed to do was make all the tops of grass gray.

This is the new pack I've been looking for! I have been wanting a new pack but couldn't find one. I say just change the half step to not have that cross on it :/ and change the smooth stone up a bit, it looks to blurry. If you change those 2 things then I would give this pack a 10/10. Oh and by the way I'm not saying the pack sucks, it's just constructive criticism.
Still a lot to do yet. But yeah, the cross was another experiment but got requested. And no matter how hard I try to be finished with smooth stone....I can't quit messing with it
:biggrin.gif:
I think I'll make a base template of just the stuff I've done though. So's no one get's the wrong Idea
EDIT:
Fixed the two things mentioned....now time for sleepy

WOW. Thanks for something that looks different then the rest, and looks AWESOME. I was compiling together my own texture pack, but this looks better than what I could do, so YESSS. Totally gotten.

Thanks a bunch!
Still chuggin away though. Tryin to get through the most widely used textures first.
Was thinking of a wooden window pane to go with rest. Maybe as an alt?

That mossy cobblestone is fantastic. Any chance you could do a regular (non-green) version of the same pattern that could be used for the regular cobblestone? Your cobblestone is pretty cool too, but I just love the pattern used in the mossy one. Oh, and it doesn't quite tile cleanly at the top/bottom edge -- there is a bit of a visible seam. If you fixed that it would be perfect.
Your bedrock looks really cool. And all your nether textures are great, especially the mud.
I like the feel of your smooth stone (and I think it has great potential for adding ores), but I think it would look a lot better if there weren't such a visible grid where the blocks come together. That's my main criticism of your pack in general. The grass, smooth stone, and light block all have very artificial-looking seams where the blocks meet. The dirt and netherstone are better, but also could fit together a bit more smoothly. The bedrock has it too, but it looks really cool so there it's more of a stylistic choice. It's possible you could make the edges fit together a little better but keep the highlight in the center of each block.
The shading on your wood textures (especially the door) is cool. I'm not a fan of the wood block textures with the perpendicular edges, but a lot of packs do that so I guess some people like it. Your stylistic choice. Nice chest. I like how the glass block frames match the wood door.
Again, some really impressive artwork here. And I can only applaud anyone who wants to take JohnSmith's pack as an inspiration and jumping off point. I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish this. Thanks so much for your hard work and for sharing it with us.
Firstly, thank you very much for the kind words. Helps me know that I'm not wasting time.

Here, just like JS does, I'll probably have many different styles of cobble, mud, and mossy to go with each other. So yes I will see about this. The mossy cobble is actually an accident as I found a texture in my texture files from way back from mapping and altered it a bit to see it in game.

Most of the textures that don't match up, I'm going to polish more as I continue my pack. Thinking of taking them and making an 8x8 grid in png form, then forcing them to play well together. Then I can know they will mesh better in game.

Thanks again. The wood block will have some alternate style(s) as I finish up. Including a seemless plank style for decking. Kinda want to get every texture done at least once, then fit the best one's (that look best together) into the main pack, then have 2 to 3 other versions. Thinking of a Knightly version with symbols, banners, and more engravings ecorperated.
Also thinking of a wood+metal combo for the glass. That on currently used is from Gerudoku's (Tombones) pack. Which I love and may ask to keep as an alt in my pack. The dor is an alt using this window, altered a bit. I also did this with JS' window and switch them around. Here again, if they let me, I'll keep them as alts for people to switch around as they wish.
The glass and cobble are what really lured me into both these and Glimmar's packs. The ability to build something that really "looks" like a theme, rather than stacked blocks in the form of.
(I'm keeping the new "ghastly moon" in the pack. It just looks so cool in game to see it float over you, then dive head first as it sets)

I did a similar thing using the scary-faced moon from Zelda: Majora's Mask. And like you said, the thing I like about it is that when it rises it looks all scary and sinister, and then toward the end of the night as dawn is approaching it dives head-down toward the horizon and looks more silly than scary, which fits well with the coming safety of dawn.
Your plans for the pack sound good. That whole process of getting textures to tile smoothly is black magic to me, but your cobblestone, mossy cobblestone and mud show that you definitely know how to do it. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thats because you didn't get rid of the biome colors themselves.
IT should still change with the biome, but would be noticibly less obvious then with normal texturepacks.
Of course, that is also a GREAT solution on how to deal with side grass, because it won't stand out as much...
Don't mind me, I'm pretty much just talking to myself at this point.
