This new texture pack exists for one purpose only: Make Minecraft harder. Here's a screenshot:
Looks normal, right? Normal enough for you to, say, switch it on someone's computer when they aren't watching without their immediate notice. Here's another screenshot:
Hmm, something is odd about this picture. You should see it pretty soon, but what if you aren't looking?
And you want armor? Sure, grab it, but I hope you find enough cows.
This is a pretty neat map. Too bad there doesn't seem to be coal... or is there?
Unlike some texture packs before this one, the pack does not make the game impossible. Just much harder. You have to pay much, much more attention, especially on the creepers. Of course, skins can't change depending on location, so...
...it fails on occasion. For instance, the arrows are colored as stone, which is great when dodging arrows in a cave, but not so much outside in the night.
Also, the sun and the moon are tiny pixels, so let's hope you have a really good sense of time. I'm not even starting on the Nether changes and the pumpkin helmet. I don't want to spoil too much, after all/
The pack isn't very advanced right now, and has much that can be added to it to make it even more important to pay attention. Make lava look like water except for the glow? Make fire and smoke only one pixel wide to make them hard to see? Make fishing hooks one pixel? Remember, my goal is not to make the character die often due to completely random, totally avoidable causes. It is to make the character die and later think "I could have avoided that if I was only paying attention." However, I'm still not going to tell you everything that is in the pack in this post, for fear of spoilers. Let's just say, if you see a small pile of sand, don't touch it.
Linky here. Feel free to post screenshots. Sorry if this is the wrong board, but since texture packs are supported now it doesn't really feel like modding

Developed the puzzle branch for the map Diversity 2, and recently released a puzzle map called The Present Factory. I later put the guts in a map called "Valley of the Kings", which I'm too lazy to link.
It makes the ores one pixel large, removes the sun and the moon (and clouds), gives all mobs camouflage, and in general forces you to pay much more attention when mining. Also, arrows are narrower and colored like stone, so you can't tell where that skeleton is as easily. Combine that with the fact that the skeleton blends in, and... well, let's hope you brought lots of pork and arrows.
I submitted a picture of the second one, the first one has a cow on the cliff. Harder to get leather/wool/feathers that way.
There was already a texture that makes minerals the same as everything else. It was generally agreed upon as not harder, but impossible. You can still see these minerals without actually mining them, you just have to look more closely. Oh, and it does other stuff.

Obviously, if you download the pack, you aren't planning on playing it on peaceful. Even if you do, you still have lava, fire, and of course the hard-to-spot ores. It would be a good way to make a veteran minecraft player think he's lost his mind for awhile if you install it while he's in a cave, though.

Here's a suggestion, instead of taking away the sun and moon completely, edit the cloud skin so that they're really thick and dark. Also make the sun/moon smaller.

Water, Gold, Stone and Dirt. ****in' Redstone, how does it work?
Hmm, that's an idea. Maybe I can make the whole cloud layer a solid black cloud, and make the sun and moon realistically-sized (I'm thinking maybe two by two pixels).

Can't you make the animals all but invisible? Just make the skin transparent. The halloween painterly pack let you see through the animal skeletons.
And BTW. As far as I am concerned, creepers MUST BE INVISIBLE. Except for the eyes. Two. Red. Eyes.
That's actually a fairly creepy, yet UTTERLY AWESOME! idea. Oh, and can you edit sounds? Remove the SSSS? Eh, might be a bit much. Does this affect ghasts and pigmen?
GIVE ZOMBIES THE DEFAULT SKIN! it will freak people out if you dont post that you changed it! besides that i just posted this.... DONT READ THIS! lol but still very good idea ( downloading )

Creeper pig, Creeper pig.
Does whatever a Creeper pig does.
Can he swing from a web?
No he can't,
There not implemented yet...
If I could remove the sounds, I would, but alas, a texture pack has not that power.
As to making bedrock look like obsidian, sure, but how does that make the game harder?
For the reskinning of the zombies, sounds great, but it would make them visible, which would conteract the point of freaking someone out.
And yes, it does work on zompigs and Ghasts; they look like hellstone. Better watch where you're mining in case that rock happens to be a disguised zompig...

Hmm, it's a concept. Of course, they should still be visible. I'll work on that one.

People will try to mine the adminium, thinking its obsidian. They won't realize that it isn't actually obsidian for a while, since obsidian usually takes forever to mine.

Can you make some other pictures of what exactly is different in the first few pictures? All I can see is a dirt chicken in the last one..

Peaceful.
You really don't need anything for that mode.

You should give the mobs an alpha value of almost zero.

I think what they're saying is that you will endlessly bang at the obsidian hoping to break it but its actually bedrock.
