Hey, I have downloaded your texture and from the screenshots it looks quite sexy, but Whenever I select it and play, It becomes default again. I have the HD Patcher, patch for 64x but it still won't budge. This also happens with Albion, and Mixcraft. I have absolutely NO IDEA why it wont work. Help?
It's not packed to work with the built in texture selector. You'll either have to repack it yourself, or install it the old fashioned way
What is the old-fashioned way?
Old-fashioned as in manually importing the textures into the .jar
So Just imagine the ammout of resources required to run 128 x 128. Which is what I run on m MC. Sure I can run SoulScribes Tex Pac all day every day, but at 128 x 128 x128 I have to go from distance "Far" to "Normal". I have a Core i7 860 HT and 8 gigs of ram and at that resolution MC eats it up "NOM NOM NOM NOM Ram GOOOODDDD"
Thank you for teaching me something I already knew (idk i love relearning things) anyways I just cant understand 1 thing about this... you have a pretty decent computer (idk im not much of a processor person :biggrin.gif:) but I mean I have 4 gigs of ram and a decent CPU and I can run 128 with almost no lagg on far render. did I mention I am using a laptop? :biggrin.gif:
Well, the difference is probably your graphics card. A friend of mine's laptop is 100% better then my desktop in every way except his graphics card (or lack thereof). I can run my 32x pack on far with fast graphics with minimal lag. He has to run on default graphics on normal (less if there are trees around) with fast also and he lags more then I do. So, MC IS still slightly graphically intensive, just far more CPU intensive.
As for the pack, I haven't even had the pleasure of playing MC in over a week, so I haven't gotten to check it out yet. :sad.gif:

Oh you are right, I completely forgot about my graphics card lol...

Nvidia GeForce G210M :]
I was running a GeForce 8800, but I upgraded to night to the GTS 450 SC. Even so its still a bit jumpy but otherwise it runs like a champ.
As far as me telling you something you already knew, my post was rather general. I do apologise if you were in any way insulted or demeaned in any way. I assure those were not my intentions. As some of us are more than aware of the things I posted, others may not have the same understanding. So for those reasons I chose to be thorough.
i cant use your texture pack. it shows up as the default pack when i use it. please help me someone. this is really annoying. the first time i asked nobody gave a ****. and its not the hd patcher by xau's problem. i didnt use it. PLEASE help me soul. stop ignoring me.

And I ended up on my kitchen floor crying and hyperventilating because the cereal box monsters were going to get me
I just wish notch would finally apply a hd patch into it on its own :ohmy.gif:
That would be great but then he would make the game LESS available to all. The game is 16bit for the reason that it can be resource heavy. I am running a Core i7 860 with 8 gigs of ram and my system lags at time with my 128bit pack. Especially when my maps get HUGE.
I think he meant adding the option to have higher resolution packs.
I think it would be best if an auto-patcher was put in, maybe so if you have a 16x16 and a 64x64 you can go from one to the other and the game will patch itself to whatever size you choose based on the dimensions of terrain.png in the pack. Best way I can think of to do something like this, though it would likely be a pain to do. Be great if someone made a mod that does this using xau's patcher as a base for it.

Every moment, a thousand worlds are born; every moment a thousand worlds die. For what is a dream but a world, at once brief and eternal, alien and familiar to the mind?
It's funny, as soon as I saw Tron, I thought, "Man, I really want to make a Tron texture pack for Minecraft". Unfortunately I didn't have the means, but I'm glad someone does.
I love what you've done so far, but I do have some suggestion for future versions.
Lava. I know lava's supposed to be all red and fiery, but it just didn't seem to flow with the rest of the textures. So I came up with an idea, make lava more of a liquid light. Use roughly the same blue-light color used in the square pattern on Cobblestone Steps and make lava a flowing, liquid blue light. Replace the fiery red glow with a blue glow relative to the lava color. It would look fantastic in the environment, and really flow more with the theme of Tron.
Possibly doing the same for the sun and the light it casts on the world, darken the sky or clouds, and you've got yourself the Grid.
Another suggestion would be to change the obsidian. Instead of the purplish computer hardware look, possibly make it a pitch black stone with symmetrical, glowing blue lines patterned on it. It would make the obsidian look alot more like its filled to the brim with energy after being in contact with the liquid light of the lava, and look great for portals.
And on the mentioning of portals, I don't know if its possible to retexture the actual purple teleporting blocks or not. But my suggestion would be that if it were possible, change the purple haze into a shining wall of glowing blue light, with no transparency. So it would be like walking into light itself.
Well, those are my suggestions. Just some of the things I imagined in my mind when I was brainstorming how I would do the Tron textures. Please keep my ideas in consideration when you're working on your next versions, that's all I ask for.
I understand you're still in v0.4, and none of your textures are final, but it's looking amazing already.
Keep up the incredible work I can't wait to see the finished product.
After 10:30 PST, my IQ drops to around that of a shovel, please disregard anything I say after aforementioned time, it will likely not make any sense, and is best ignored.
Well, I've read (in this thread, I believe) it's possible to hack a skybox edit by modifying the background of the image used for cloud blocks. Haven't tested it myself, so I don't know if it works, and someone else said that it would only work while you were below the cloud layer (which makes sense), but it may be a viable alternative to modding the game.
That said, a mod that did that (along with a few other modifications. Namely, modifying the day-night cycle) would make Tron packs 100% perfect. Were it that I had more time/patience/Java knowledge, I'd make it myself. XD
First off uglyduckling, you must learn what a computer is before telling us you have a problem. To simplify, do not say: it wont work because it wont work. Because that wont work! Second, you need to be more descriptive with your problem, i mean as it is we cannot help you, unless you be specific. Lastly, to help you on what i assume you are having a problem with. As Vishnaborg said, you will need to run an HD patcher, this is basically a program that modifies minecraft's code so it is capable of processing textures of higher resolutions. Another way to put it is that, until notch adds auto HD fuctionality to the game (which I doubt will be in the near future) The in-game texture mod list can only use 16x block images.

Didn't I already answer this? The texture pack is not correctly packed for use with the in-game texture pack selector. Either unzip it and rezip it to work with the selector or install it manually into the .jar.
And, unless you want glitchy textures, you need to run the texture fix.
just a bad case of RTFI(read the f***ing instructions) but as usual keep up the good work on your pack if you need someone to test stuff just send me a message. If it doesnt work i would prolly be able to tell you how to alter it to work or send you a copy i alter myself. I already changed a few things in the pack to work better for me.

She's stated that she wants to over and over, but it is currently not possible.

"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
My only complaint is how alien it is... I mean sure, it's Tron, but it's really hard to figure out what's what at first, until you get used to it.
