I'd use this if Minecraft didn't black screen every time I tried to change the texture pack >_>
I'm going to use this when I do fix the issue, or it gets fixed.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I'm part of a Youtube community called What's Going on Studios! We are still getting started, but it'll get somewhere soon, we all hope!
i know its quite soon, but we do need an update for the dies and new blocks, and the new texture file layout. the top of furnaces are purple atm. love the texture pack.
and to the furry dude, qualjak did the best he could to make something that seened even remotly like cell-shading without modifying the code of the game. if you want a true cell-shaded experience in minecraft, download that mod. if not, quit your bitching and stop argueing semantics.
Now THAT, my friends, is CELLSHADING! See, Minecraft CAN handle it, with a bit of modifications. Don't talk **** you don't know anything about.
I was kind of, sort of on his side, up until these blatant contradictions. In my eyes, he's already lost. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.
On topic: The texture pack could use some improvement. I do agree with him on some parts- in many ways, the grid makes things seem less cellshaded than I think you were going for, OP. Still, I think you could probably improve it with a bit more work. Don't give up.
Alright, well I really don't like all this arguing and insulting behavior being said in my thread.
Constructive Criticism is welcome, but I don't believe what Coyotez is saying is constructive, but rather destructive. Bold insults to my intelligence aren't going to help improve my texture pack. Also, when I said that the Minecraft engine wasn't capable of cell-shading, I meant that it wasn't capable of that in its vanilla form/unmodded. (I saw that link, it's awesome)
Now that I got that out of the way I feel it necessary to address the questions about what cell-shading technically is. Cell-shading isn't the correct term, cel-shading is. Cel is short for celluloid, which is a sheet that is used for traditional hand-drawn animations. Thus cel-shading is the idea of having animations look hand-drawn. Although many hand drawn animations have black-lines, it isn't necessary. That means that cel-shaded graphics aren't determined by black outlines but instead looking hand drawn. Because of that I feel the title is appropriate. I realize that individually the blocks don't look cel-shaded, but when they come together and make buildings and such, the result looks more like cel-shading style. Of course that's just my opinion and you don't have to agree. To support what I've said, I'll quote a sentence from an article on Wikipedia. "Popularly, this "ink" outline applied to animation and games is what’s called cel shading, while originally the term referred to the shading technique, regardless of whether outline is being applied or not."
I don't think I would very easily be able to make this texture pack look genuinely cel-shaded in its 16x16 form. When I have more time, I might work on my 32x32 version and make it look more cel-shaded. Or I might make 64x64 or something if that doesn't work. Not sure though.
Qualjak, do you want me to handle converting the new stuff to 16-bit?
I'll get to it eventually, thanks though. :tongue.gif:
But I'm looking at the terrain.png and I don't know what a lot of this new stuff is supposed to be, so if you want to tell me what's part of what that'd be great.
yo Qualjak dont listen to them they're just pissy cause they cant make a pack as good as this. I actually PREFER this to things such as the painterly pack and other really cool **** I'm blanking on right now... But, hey I love your pack and it kills me to have to go to the default textures because you don't know what a dispenser looks like, but thats O.K. Take your time, it's thursday night. Have it up by friday if you can. Good way to start off the weekend with the best texture pack I can find up to-date.

Qualjack, i made this account just for this thread, so hear me out.
this may be the best texture pack ive ever used, and i fully support what you're doing here. keep up the good work, and please update to comply with beta 1.2 as soon as possible.
why should you care about my opinion, you ask?
Im a Goddamn Creeper.

Ah, I got started on the front of the dispenser, so feel free to change it up.
Alright, I modified the texture pack to be up-to-date. If something is wrong just let me know. Check the change log in the original post if you want to know more about v4.0.
Have a good weekend!
EDIT: I'm also curious as to what you think about the new leaves, so go ahead and lemme know if its better or worse than it was before. Main thing is that they are no longer see through.
let's not talk you anywhere. I think that's best.
Cool find on that realistic cell-shading, although it isn't quite there yet.

what are you TALKING about, everything is gorgeous.
Kidding, I used it several times on my worlds and it's nice. :smile.gif: I love the simplicity of it.
