I'm just wondering if the natural resource blocks are going to look a little more realistic- like in the real minecraft texture pack. Not because I don't like it, but because I think it's a lot better with (for instance) the dark grass. You can see the grains in the dirt, the little grey specks. I know that "It's not realistic enough" is a really judgemental kind of thing to say, and I also do know it's a matter of opinion, but I'm just wondering if you're planning to make more details in the natural blocks?

Well, To be honest I don't know yet, I'll play with some stuff but I get what you're saying. :smile.gif: I'll try to make things a bit more detailed, I just wanted to get a pack out so I can get some feedback from people. After I make the passive mobs I'll go and mess with the textures more!
(UPDATE!)
I wasn't able to work on the mobs much at all due to studying for finals in college this week. After Dec. 7th I'll be free to do this a whole lot more so until then, there will probably be no updates... Sorry! I'm sure I can get passive mobs by the end of the week though. :smile.gif:
It's not so much the pictures are dark, everything in this pack is rather dark... I'm planning on lightening it up as its really hard to see anything (especially at night).... I plan on lightening things up a lot. No worries. Later this week (after my finals and tests) I'll fix terrain.png and lighten it up. :biggrin.gif:
question, pumpkins. you keeping them pumpkins? becuase i think they should be dragon skulls, and when you wear them, you see through the dragon eyes and can see in the dark. that'll lighten up the pack abit when you wear it and it'll help you see at night.

I wanna keep them pumpkins because I rather enjoy the who jack-o-lantern thing. I'm currently working on making it so the pumpkins will give you a night vision effect, but that will come after mobs (at least the passive ones).
Just for you though, I'll give the dragon skull a shot and see what I can do, alright? (the only reason I didn't was because it would be a square skull and that would look kinda funny but I'll try it!) :biggrin.gif:
If anything, I'll add it as an alternative to pumpkins.
Excuse my shameless bump but I just made a cow!!! :biggrin.gif: (they are grumpy because they don't get to be dragons anymore....) They are also very dirty cows. YAY MUD! If nobody has anything to say to my cows I shall be moving onto piggies!
So much shameless bumps today but this is an important one!!!
DRAGON PIG IS HERE!!!
ta-da...
WHY MUST THESE ANIMALS MOVE SO MUCH! I wish they would stay still...
Also, should i stick to blue? Or should I make an actual dragon/pig hybrid? (Piggie pink with wings?)
Once I do the sheep the newest release will be out! Stay tuned!
You're doing a mighty fine job on this, athdaraxen.
I've looked completely through your thread and nearly all the suggestions I was going to make have been covered, one way or another by others. It's been a pleasure to read and to see everyones enthusiam for the theme! I've always loved the idea of dragons too.
I think it's a very difficult theme to achieve in 16x16 so I very much admire what you have done so far.
I couldn't help chuckling at your comment above about the animals moving so much. This comment can only be appreciated by someone currently trying to re-texture the mobs! It's the most frustrating experience I've had. Just when you need to see a particular part of the animal to see how your re-skinning work is coming along, they constantly turn away! You wish there was someway of grabbing them and tying them up to a post or something!! Aaargh! Someone aught to bring out a silly mod that allows you to shout "BE STILL!" and any animals within earshot stand still. You could call it the 'Dragon Shout' for this theme.
I particularly like your furnace with the open mouth of a dragon, and I was going to suggest that the TNT would be a casket of dragon eggs, but someone already suggested that.:sad.gif: I think I'd like to see more scales on things, but at 16x16 that would be a tricky thing to do without everything going checkerboard. What about the redstone dust being more serpentine and the redstone torch a kind of dragon head. I like the scales on the iron block! :smile.gif:
All in all well done, I share your frustration at trying to finish things off and animals that won't stand still. Keep up the good work. Who knows, Notch may very well still make this dragon mob we've all been waiting for and It'll be absolutely made for this texture pack. Are you entering it for the competition?

I love your idea for the redstone and torch Glimmer! I hadn't of thought of that, it will also be a plus since I'm trying to add both eastern and western type dragons, the head torch and serpentine trails would really be perfect for a Oriental dragon!!! You are right it is rather hard to add scales to things in 16x16... I'm honestly thinking of doing a 32x32 version, but that will only come after I finish 16x16. I might actually enter this in the competition if I can finish the enemy mobs. I also will probably change a few items so the pack makes sense as well, like changed the gunpowder to dragon hearts and such. Then I might actually do it.
As for keeping mobs still, I found that this pet mod works great because you can order the mobs to stay, it even works on enemy mobs! Its by no means perfect but it helps. :smile.gif: Just click my words and they shall bring you to the mod!
ah another dragon fanatic excellent work my freind. with myself being a lunatic (i mean this in the old english definition) i think this will look nice on my map

Dragons need to be implemented. No arguments.

I wish you luck with it!
Thank you very much Satharis. :smile.gif:
That's one for blue. :smile.gif:
What about sheep.... They make me think of the dragon from a Neverending story...(note below picture)
It's cause they both have lots of fur lol.

1. Lighten up the textures!
2. Finish passive mobs.
3. Begin enemy mobs.
Hopefully #1 and #2 will be done by the end of the weekend and start #3!!!
Your suggestions and ideas are extremely welcome, I take all into account. Please post what you think! I want your opinions! :biggrin.gif:
