This "pack" also requires patching for hi-res textures.
I suggest MC Patcher. Those needing instructions for MC Patcher or help with its use should use its thread.
To use this pack, just put the provided zip file in your Minecraft texture folder. This can easily be found via the "Mods and Texture Packs" menu in-game.

One day, I decided I was going to look for some new textures specifically for the menus. After looking around for hours, I decided that I couldn't find one I liked. So, I set out to make my own. This is what I've come up with so far.
This pack has become a 32x pack. Why? I wanted to delve into the items and decided they could use a bit more detail. Other textures have remained the same (minus a change to Trapdoors - which no longer have windows - and Glass - which had its outline thinned). For the most part, the only things I've messed with is tools and armor icons. I haven't changed the look of the in-game menus, they're more or less the same as before the switch, despite the increased LoD.
I'm also working with a modified version of one of Better Skies' moons to, hopefully, allow moon phases to work with a much nicer moon. However, I wont add that until I ask Roundaround's permission.

Got my belt up. I can't say I like it, but it's better then nothing. I wish I was better at texturing, maybe I'd actually be able to make it look like a leather belt. :/
I wish there was room for a buckle or something. I think that would really make it.
EDIT: I think throughout all this, I completely forgot to mention that I'm currently using these textures in-game. It's actually kind of interesting to use them, even with them not being finished.
Feel free to use them, by all means. Those are the only ones I have even started. I haven't touched the furnace or general inventory yet.
As for the belt, I was trying to make it look like a brown leather belt. I was initially going to try black, but I couldn't really make that look nice. Eventually, I want to change the quickbar on the screen to have the same belt behind it. Well, probably not quite the same since, I believe, the graphic for that is right on the very top of the file it's in. I'd have to bend it down, I think.
but I'll get to that when I get to that. :tongue.gif:
So, I've finally found some time to work on this again. Coming back to it after a while has helped a little. Need to really work on some pixel art skillz. They'd be handy right about now.
Anyways, as I said in 1st post, I'm going to go over the other UIs and update them with the belt and smaller Inv area (except the main inventory which is only getting the belt).
I just updated with the furnace retexture. I'm actually surprised by how well it turned out. I had expected it to be far more difficult then it turned out to be. I haven't tested it yet, but I will be soon.
EDIT: Either Chrome or Photobucket really hate me today. Container.png just will not update for me. It shows the correct graphic on photobucket when viewed in my album, but, when I try to view it directly, it just keeps reverting back to the old image. :/
So, Photobucket is still lame. Hopefully I'm the only person still seeing the old versions of my textures. If not, I'm hoping Photobucket will catch up in a few hours....
Anyways, I've revisted the Workbench and completely overhauled it. The Container texture also got an update so that it doesn't look like crap when you're only using a regular chest and so that it feels more like the texture of the vanilla chests. In addition, I've added some highlighting around the hard to read "Inventory" (almost all menus) and "Crafting" (Workbench UI) text.
I'm still kinda at a loss for what to do with the general inventory. I'm thinking about splitting it into 4 sections (as opposed to 2 sections like it is now). One section for the belt, one for the inventory, once for the character view/armor slots, and one for the mini crafting area. I'm open to input on that one.
In addition, the "Output" box (Workbench UI) is just kinda off floating in space at the moment. I'm still working on a way to include it in the UI more. It's just kinda.... there, right now. Input appreciated there as well.
Finally came back to this. Ditched the belt, used a modified version of the quickbar instead. Slightly modified the Chest UI to more closely match the chest texture. Finally did something with the General Inventory. The "Crafting" text on it is a little redundant, but it makes sense. I also added the Dispenser UI. Though, it's pretty simple right now and probably needs additional text to mark the menu (like the Workbench).
Decided not to take down the link to Revision 2 for no real reason. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, I just need to nudge the Crafting text over. I'd forgotten that it has text there. :happy.gif:;; Should have it fixed in a sec.
EDIT: Okay, should be fixed now. I'd test it but I don't have time. :/ You can just grab the new image right off the first post up there or redownload the zip, I fixed it too. Glad you like them. :smile.gif:
Hmmm, I suppose I could. Not really sure what I would do with them. The point was just to make the GUIs for stuff look like the item you're using. I guess I could make the buttons more rounded, or something. Suggestions?
So, only real changes here are the UI buttons. I added some nice rounded corners which actually looks a lot better then the default boxes. I also noticed that the quickbar on the Inventory UI was a tiny bit too far to the right, so that's fixed.
I also started poking the game textures a little. I don't really plan on doing much with them for the most part, but I'm mildly considering playing with the textures for world objects, like dirt and stone. I've also been using the GLSL Shaders mod, so I might try and figure out how to make the displacement maps the mod uses for parallax occlusion (which looks friggin' amazing, btw).
If anyone has any tips for that, I'd appreciate it. :happy.gif:
Well, I've decided to call this finished. Barring some in-game change, no changes should have to be made to this retexture.... ever. That said, if anyone has a particular critique or other point of interest I may want to address with the menus, I'd be more than happy to oblige providing I have the time (and skill).
I have been maintaining a personal, more expansive retexture that I could give out if anyone would like to see/use it. Currently, my modifications are limited to minor edits, primarily of items but also to some icons and a few other textures. I can post them if anyone wants to see them.

Still working on getting something that looks like a belt. I had an idea last night that just might do the trick. :happy.gif:
