Install the texture pack. Manually or into the texture pack file, i don't think it matters.
If you haven't already, download the latest patcher. (The latest patcher can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=46173)
Run the patcher. Click on Minecraft folder, and delete the Minecraft.original folder and the Version folder to make sure it's up to date.
After that, run minecraft again and then close it.
Once again, run the patcher. Make sure the settings look like they do in the first post. If you installed manually then unmark texture pack. Make sure it says 128x128.

This is a gorgeous pack! I adore the game Okami and these textures are just great. :smile.gif: I can't pick favorite parts. The simplicity of them fits in really, really well in Minecraft, in my opinion.
I have two very, very, very minor points of criticism, though, if you don't mind:
1)The water isn't actually seamless at certain flowing angles.
2) How to phrase this one... In this pack, in the terrain.png, the 4th from-the-left-block (the dirt one with grass on the upper edge), has an flat transition from grass to dirt, but in the game, it is a rough edge. I think it looks very nice regardless, but I figured I would bring it up.
If you ever do a non-Okami sumi-e, I would love to see that too! (I hope that isn't too rude to say! Because this is just awesome as is!) I like to try different packs, but this always is what I go back to.

A bump of love for this awesome pack. <3
And you shall recieve...
I love this pack, but since 1.2 Beta it is completely broken, so I took the time to port it to 1.2
Warning: I am not good at texturing at all, i just wanted to make it compatible again, mostly be reusing existing texture elements.
I hope the author doesnt mind, that i used his work - a sinlge PM will make the dl link disappear, in case he does.

Well, one of the fans was kind enough to modify it for 1.2; no new textures but some recolors of old ones that work quite well! (It's on the previous page, page 5, near the bottom.)
Love this pack! I thought the textures were very creative. I was thinking about doing Okami, but this one rocks so I don't see a need to do one now. :biggrin.gif:
My friend sent me a link to this texturepack a few days after I finally convinced him to play minecraft.I loved it.
Then I looked closer.
I still love it - but I won't play with it yet, not unless 64x64 textures don't crash your game without the patcher. I loooooove Okami, and I think that in some ways this pack is wonderful, but it's not quite there yet. A few suggestions from a fan of both minecraft and Okami:
1) Outlines. Outlines outlines outlines. While I understand how difficult it is to use Okami-style inked outlines on minecraft blocks, I'm not suggesting that they be everywhere. But a few places, like the left and right sides of tree trunks, I believe would help the pack look more true to the game. Also, making the sides of grass have a wavy outline with breaks in it would more closely mimic the original (which I assume based on the rest of the pack you are trying to do). My opinion is to double-check each block and actually look at Okami either online or by playing, to see if what you have is as close as possible to the beautiful art of the game. And try to make the outlines more clean and inky rather than airbrush-y.
Whew! That was long.
2) My opinions on block concepts - first of all, I totally agree with paper lantern pumpkins. The reason? Not only do they fit with the style, it would be a wonderful excuse to have the overlay from the helmet be the canvas- or parchment-like texture overlayed onto Okami. I feel like the absence of that makes it feel less like the original.
As for the Nether - I agree that it needs to be changed, as it doesn't really resemble anything but the Nether right now, and Nippon has no Nether. While I like the idea of it being a cursed zone, you'd have to decide what to do with the "burning" texture - whether to keep it as fire and make cursed water burn you or make it curse symbols and have to rethink flint and steel. Another idea would be to make it something like inside the Water Dragon or the Calcified Cavern, but they present similar problems - though inside the dragon may be a bit better because of the stomach acid. Of course, it could be the lava pits of Oni Island, but they're rather small.
Next up, the mushrooms/flowers. Um, I'm sure you're a wonderful person and I hate to say this, but I really don't care for your mushrooms. In all honesty, I think you should get rid of them. I'm also missing the iconic flowers from greensprout. I understand that the grass and clover are very important to the pack, but I think I might have a solution: the crops. I present two ideas - first, make crops the Okami flowers.
In this case, when you till soil you get green ink dots (seeds) which, when planted, begin to grow flowers. As they grow, more appear, until they are surrounded by rice from Kamiki, and possibly the autumn plants which appear behind full-speed Ammy. When harvested, they drop green ink dots (seeds again) and bales of rice (wheat). When crafted together, they make Kushi's famous Sake (Bread)!
The other method would be to change clovers to crops. In this case, you may want to consider tilled earth to be normal grass or dirt with a glowing green circle, like a clover before it is dug up. Seeds may either be green ink dots again, or they could be greensprout circles, or even praise (makes more sense when harvesting). As they grow, you could either just have a growing black clover, then a greensprout circle around it, then a green clover, or a digging hole growing until a clover pops out, or something in between. When harvested, it would drop whichever seed type you choose to use, and cherries (in Okami, fruit drops from EVERYTHING), which could then be crafted into Mrs. Orange's famous Cherry Cakes! Don't forget to offer some to the gods!
OK, I realize this is way too long, so I'll stop after this next suggestion. I have more, but I don't want to waste your time if you don't want to hear someone telling you how to make your pack. So please tell me if I should say the rest or if you want me to shut up and leave, OK? Great, so just this one more:
Redstone. Umm... you made it redstone. Okami has no redstone. Okami DOES have ink, though, and lots of it. And Ammy has the Thunderstorm technique. I suggest that unpowered redstone be made into black ink strokes, and powered redstone be the yellow, sparking ink caused by using Thunderstorm. Redstone torches can be those lightning rod things all over Oni Island. when on, they could be glowing yellow with electricity.
There, that's all I'll say for the moment. Please tell me if you want to hear more, I really love this pack and want to see it grow into something spectacular!
I know this pack is a tad old, and overall it may seem like blasphemy to long-time fans of this pack, but I had a little free time and decided to try and downscale it to a 16x pack. Overall... I'm kinda surprised just how well it scales.
Terrain
Sun/Moon
Might do more of it if time permits, perhaps add the new blocks and such.
some one PLEASE tell me how the the download this. what i ussaly do is make a copy of my minecraft under bin then copy and paste the texture folders into the original and play using that. and if i wanna switch use the copy. But okami doesnt work that way at all
You have to patch it using the patcher found in the first post.
Also, this pack is not up to date, so unless you have a pirated version of minecraft that's not updated to Beta 1.2_02 then dye, sandstone, and lapis, and squids and whatever else was added after the initial Beta release will be broken, and will just appear as whatever the backround is in the terrain.png.
So, the title does say BETA, but he means the beta release of the pack, not updated to Beta. So, yeah.

Updated to work with 1.3, used recolors from a previous poster and recolored logs for birch trees, and recolored cobble for sandstone, the beds and repeaters are just high def versions of the original model.
edit: different download link, I messed up with the sandstone on the first one.

Lastly, unmark animated fire.
After that, click patch and it should work.

Thank you so much! *squeals happily*
Thanks again for that, Berserker77!
