I have the same issue. Followed the instructions perfectly and even tried experimenting a bit to get around it but every time I try to start it up it says there's an error.

Ok I got it to work, I'll tell you the steps exactly as I did it.
1. Opened up a fresh minecraft, then tried the pack before mcpatcher, ended in crash.
2 Then I tried it with mcpatcher, as said in directions EXCEPT I checkmarked animated fire, and it worked.
I don't get it either, but it seemed to do the trick, the fire just isn't the beautiful fire that was show in the pics, everything else seems to be working.
Oh, and the only thing I dislike about the pack is that (I guess because of the texture support update thing) It makes your default Minecraft the Okami Pack, which annoys me as I can't undo this with getting a new minecraft.jar... unless there is a fix nobody told me about for this too
But nonetheless, your pack is beautiful postermahn.
I tried out your advice, Athdaraxen and I still got errors. Even redownloaded the game. Thank you for trying to help though.
I figure I will just wait to see if there are any fixes or keep trying to figure out how to make it work.
Oh well, I am sorry it doesn't work for you, but think of it like this, its still in beta and when the final version comes out it should have as many bugs!
Good luck to postermahn, btw. Hope you can finish the pack! I can't wait to see if you'll make another one! :wink.gif:

Actually, what you're supposed to do is leave the Texture Pack field as default (%appdata%\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.original.jar), and manually change the Size parameter to 128x128. This will upscale the built-in Default textures to 128x128, and make it so 128x128 packs in %appdata%\.minecraft\texturepacks won't crash Minecraft by being in the folder. Then you copy the OkamiCraft file to the folder, and select it in-game. Also, deselect Animated Fire.
Also, advance warning: Next time Notch updates (which MAY be this Friday if his Twitter is anything to go by anymore), if you had OkamiCraft selected before updating Minecraft, it will crash at the Mojang screen. To solve this, either remove the .zip from \texturepacks or edit settings.txt to reset to Default (look for my post on the previous page).

So, do you mean run the patcher first? To make Minecraft 128X128 compatible? Then put OkamiCraft in the texture folder? (Please excuse my idiocy, I'm not good with Java or much anything like this, probably why I'm having trouble... )
EDIT: WackoMcGoose, you are correct. It now works perfectly, awesome fire and everything. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it! A diamond for you! But seriously, thanks!!!
My last run-in with frustration and failure brought my hopes up (and consequently knocked them down).
I did as instructed. I opened Minecraft through the Minecraft patcher thing that is required. Checked "texture pack" and left it as the default that pops up. Set the tile size to 128x128 and made sure "animated fire" was not checked, and hit run.
I get to the main menu fine and add the Okami file into the texturepack folder. From here I was able to get to the singleplayer menu and clicked on it, still default. I tried to go back to the "texture pack and mods" menu and click on the Okami pack that is under the default, and it crashes (error). Trying to exit out and start it back up only brings the error message again at first try.

Try just running the patcher without clicking the texture pack box, just un-check mark the animated fire, set the size to 128x128. Then run the patcher, then move the texture pack to the folder. If I understand anything of what WackoMcGoose said, this makes it so your Minecraft is HD (well HD packs in the size of 128x128)compatible, so you can run any HD pack. (Which I will experiment with today. I'm sorry I haven't been much help, but give this a try before you give up ok? Good luck Samuli!
1. delete your .minecraft folder
2. run minecraft and download everything
3. start up a new world and save it, then quit minecraft
4. run mcpatcher-1.1.8 and put the tile size to 128x128,(or 64x64 if you are using Okami Texture Pack_x64.zip)
also do NOT tick the texture pack and untick "Animated fire" and make sure all the other options are ticked.
click patch and let it work, then close it.
5. open up .minecraft and then in under bin folder and open up minecraft.jar with 7-zip
6. open up Okami Texture Pack_x128/x64.zip and then drag the content into the minecraft.jar
7. close everything and then run the game, it should work now.
Don't forget the take backups of your saves etc.
I didn't have to delete my Minecraft folder at all.... I had just used a back of my .jar file to have a fresh Minecraft, worked just fine.
the delete part is just to make sure you dont have other stuff that might conflict etc
makes things easier for people that don't know much about stuff like this.
I see. Ok! Your directions are quite clear though, I've never been good at making directions for things... so thanks! A diamond for you.
I'm curious so figured I I'd ask, will there be sumi-e style paintings as well? I only ask because not a lot of people bother with them and because its an Okami thing, I was hoping to see some...
EDIT: Just thought of something, I see in the screenshots the trees have really drastic color changes (They are so beautiful!) But all I seem to get is shades of green... were those screenshot before the biomes came into play?
Crap, I really wanted to use this texture pack, but both of them make Minecraft crash for me on Mac as soon as I choose it, and subsequently after the Mojang logo when I relaunch.

I have had this problem in the past with other texture packs as well. Are you trying to run it by putting the texture pack in the texturepack folder, and then selecting it from the "Mods and Texture Packs" menu? If so, that's probably why - you can only run this if you've dragged the files into the minecraft.jar folder, and installed a HD patch.
Edit: Actually, it turns out this isn't necessarily the case, and it can be done via the Mods and Texture Packs menu. I followed this series of steps to install the pack:
1. Download the HD patch, but don't run it just yet.
2. Delete the Minecraft Bin file (to get rid of any alterations that have already been made to it by the HD patch, if you've already tried it)
3. Download the Okami texture pack, and put it in the texturepacks folder
4. Run the Minecraft exe (it will automatically re-download the Minecraft Bin)
5. Click 'Mods and Texture Packs,' then select the Okami file - at this point, the game may crash, but don't worry! If it crashes, I think it's because Okami is a HD texture pack that needs a tile size of 128 x 128 (or 64 x 64, depending) in order to work, whereas the default Minecraft tile size is only 16 x 16.
6. Now run the HD patch, choosing the options as outlined in the OP. The reason why we're running the HD patch now, instead of before selecting the Okami texture pack, is that the chosen tile size needs to match that of the current texture pack for the patch to work (at least, that's what I've gathered, anyway).
7. Try running the Minecraft exe again - hopefully it'll work this time.
I'm having the same problems as everyone else with crashing pack and all that, I haven't tried the fire fix yet because don't care to play it without the pretty Okami fire so I'll just ***** in here about it and wait for a fix. :V
Sad I can't use the pack. Okamiden comes out in less than three months and I'm on a hype about it now.
Also your new trees are ugly, edit the texture gradient to make green trees pink please. :biggrin.gif:
