When I want to use a more cartoonish and brighter texture pack I will reinstall this one, it looks great. From my limited testing (about 30 minutes or so), it looked great in my game.
I agree, I made my own little break animation though using this that I just overlayed into the terrain.png picture and though it isnt really the best looking thing, works well for me:
Notch, I am more disappoint than ever. Putting this amazing texture pack into the folder for the official texture pack tool makes Minecraft crash out at the Mojang screen. Even with the vanilla client. And MCPatcher 1.1.8 inexplicably reverts the game to 1.2.0_02, so I can't play online. Removing the pack from %appdata%/.minecraft/texturepacks, Minecraft launches almost instantly. Way to troll. [/sarcasm] [rage]

Yeah, I just redownloaded 1.1.8 from the link in the OP, and still, running it without installing the pack through MCPatcher (i.e. leaving the Texture Pack field set to the default %appdata%/.minecraft/bin/minecraft.original.jar) causes Minecraft to die at the Mojang splash, and installing through it downgrades the client. What the derp is going on?

• Got a 64x64 version out the door for those with slower computers, or are having trouble with the original 128x128 (links on the first post) Sorry for taking so long to do this.
• Redesigned torches
• Cherry blossoms are updated to look a bit more defined, if you still like the old version better you can switch the graphics from "Fancy" to "Fast".
• Updated some of the screenshots to show the changes made to the texture.png
• Put a copy of the texture.png back up on the first post again
• I'm proud to announce that the Okami Texture pack is also being hosted at http://mcxc.net/ Check it out, along with other texture packs by talented designers!
Enjoy!

I sorry to hear your having problems. Practically all the HD texture packs here are running their life support off Xau's patcher. If you haven't already tried, you can manually install the whole texture pack into the minecraft.jar like we used to, or you can try out the new x64 version and see if that helps.
If none of the above work you can slug it out on xau's thread and see if he can help you.
Wow, love the new torches. And to be honest, the new leaves are kinda growin' on me, too.
I was thinkin'... what about peaches instead of apples for the items? Also, I'm kinda partial to eel instead of fish (cooked on a stick, of course), but that's just a personal thing. How're the items comin' along?

Thanks for the ideas, at the moment items are far from being done. Trying to get more ideas on what to do.

Same exact problem. Xau's patcher, much like the goggles, does nothing. Other textures work fine though.
How's the progress coming along with animated fire? And to be honest there is something I think you should look in to..
GeruDoku's texture pack has custom ANIMATED still water. I don't know how the guy did it but it would add a lot of awesomeness to this pack! Though you could probably put that on the tail end of all the additions you'll be making- it'll probably take the longest to create.

I am fairly sure I had the same problem as you.
Once I figured out I needed to update the HD patcher:
- I deleted the bin folder in .minecraft
- Ran Minecraft to get it back up to date
- Patched the 64 px texture through Xau's
- Ran Minecraft and placed the zip in the in-game texture folder
- Selected Okami HD and booted up my save.
These steps are, in fact, exactly as described in the original post, but in haste I skipped the Xau patch and just placed the zip at first. Minecraft exploded. Once I got everything back to its default, updated state and followed the instructions properly, it worked. |D
Greatly enjoying this texture now Postermahn. =] My initial impression is that the cobblestone feels a little out of place. The grass and trees have a significantly broader range of values (ignoring biome color variations) and the outlines aren't as overwhelming so they pattern better. Maybe experiment with slightly larger and closer fitting rocks?
Besides that nitpick I'm loving what I see and looking forward to the item textures. :biggrin.gif:

I tried the texture pack out, I thought the animated water was cool but, unnecessary.
Hats off to tombones for figuring out how to do it though.
If I could apply animated gifs to the texture that would be even better. I could finally get a fire animation to work and do other cool stuff like lightning sparks coming off swords and such.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I have many other responsibilities that have been keeping me from working on this texture pack.
postermahn, there's instructions in the HD Patcher thread for making custom animations. Look in the OP, under the release notes for 1.1.6. Basically, you have to make a custom_water_still.png, custom_water_flowing.png, etc., with each frame in sequence going down. These will be put into the root directory of the .jar, and loaded if both Animated Water/Lava and Custom Water/Lava were enabled in the Patcher. There isn't a Custom Animated Fire yet, though.
Also, I finally found out what was making either the patcher or OkamiCraft's presence in .minecraft\texturepacks crash Minecraft. Explanation copypasta from my post in the Patcher thread:
*After patching, go to %appdata%\.minecraft
*In options.txt, change the line that says "skin:something.zip" to "skin:default". Save the text file.
*Open Minecraft. It will load as set to the default textures, upscaled by the Patcher.
*Select a texture pack of the resolution the Patcher configured it to. Selecting a texture pack of any other resolution (smaller or bigger than patched) will crash Minecraft.
*Every time you re-patch to a different resolution, or Notch releases an update, you have to reset options.txt->skin:default, or Minecraft will attempt to load a different-scaled texture pack and die.
The problems were: For vanilla client w/ OkamiCraft in folder, Minecraft attempts to load 128x128 textures but is configured for 16x16 and dies. For patched, I had left 16x16 Painterly selected, Minecraft attempts to load a too small pack and dies (like if you for some reason tried to do 8x8 textures!) Resetting options.txt->skin:default makes the game use the Patcher-upscaled default textures, letting you load Minecraft and get to the texture-switching screen. You have to reset this every time Minecraft updates if the last pack selected wasn't 16x16.

Hello there ! i made my 1st ever comentary video in english for minecraft useing your pack here is the video ! Also i want to thank you for such amazing pack you have done ! i included a link to this thread so people can come and get it !
so yeah this is the link to my thread about lets play minecraft : Click! Also i will enbend the video here as well just make sure u watch in 1080p for awesomeness !
Thank you for making this awesome video, I have included it on the first post of this thread.
I did notice the water and the grass did not appear correctly.
For whatever reason these textures along with the lava do not load directly from the zip file. If you want the water and lava texture included, you'll need to manually replace the terrain.png in the minecraft.jar. (I know it defeats the purpose of having a texture switcher but, this is the only way I could fix the issue)
As for the grass, it looks like you replaced foliagecolor.png but didn't replace grasscolor.png. The grasscolor.png I have included just disables the biome coloration of the grass, which is what I prefer. If you prefer to have the grass colored in different biomes then you can just leave it as is.
I'm so sad, I freaked when I saw this pack and all its Okami glory , then followed the directions and it crashes every time I try...

I have the same issue. Followed the instructions perfectly and even tried experimenting a bit to get around it but every time I try to start it up it says there's an error.
