It all looks really nice and I'm very curious to know,
do you draw all your textures? e,g the wooden door?
Ifso you're way better then I am. I avoid parts of my textures needing details I would have to draw... basically I can only create textures with rudimentary borders and styling.
Thanks Aza, No, I didn't paint the doors, I licensed images containing them. A lot of the textures are composites of images and hand-drawn elements like the record player ( wood plank, album and tonearm images ). Some are entirely original manual art like the monster spawner, lightstone and torches. A wacom tablet helps a lot.
The ores are all sourced from authentic natural textures that have been heavily edited and manipulated and the integration into stone is all hand done. Elements such as tools on the crafting table are sourced from images and altered and the blocks are crystalline iron from a meteorite, a gold bullion bar and multiple composited diamonds.
Having worked in photoshop for more than 20 years I've never had any issue using photos as source material. I respect any artist that can work from nothing and generate photo-realistic results, and I do that when a job calls for it but I don't have the time for that kind of investment for a free project.
I scanned through and must have missed the fix for it, I have no moving water showing at all, still water is there , just no moving. This is by far one of the best looking texture packs I have run across ! Thanks for the beautiful work.

EDIT: I've been tinkering with Gimp for a few years maybe 3. I just do it for fun and I enjoy it.
Oh ok, that's sort of what I do, sometimes I feel like a sham when I get a photo from the net and heavily edit part of it to be one of my textures...
I always assumed everyone created all their art/textures from scratch.
I mean I do that with some stuff but not all.

Until Xau releases an update to his HD texture patcher you'll have to place the flowing water file in the minecraft.jar file manually using WinRAR to open both. I do suggest doing it though, since the flowing water is beautiful! It took forever to test it out and tweak the texture progression, but now it actually flows seamlessly and at the same rate that the stream pulls you along.

Well, other than copyright and IP and trademark and such. :tongue.gif:
I followed all the instructions in the OP, and the pack works and looks great... for a bit. It seems every time I use this pack the game will eventually go either white or black and then hang shortly thereafter after a brief period of time. Seems like some kind of overflow or leak type error since significant travel speeds up the issue.
I'm on win7 x64 with a geforce 260 core 216 and 2x2gb of ram and a Q9450 @3.2ghz so I'm pretty sure it's not my computer given that I could run Fakefactory without stability problems.
That's a nasty problem and I'm not sure that it's possible to resolve it by altering the pack but I can make a few suggestions that you can take to see if we can determine what the cause is.
You can run minecraft from Xau's patcher and it will continuously log information. I have never left this open during an extended play session, but I would suggest trying it to see if it notes any cause for the misbehavior.
Ideally, run Minecraft from Xau's patcher's "Run Minecraft" button and play until failure. Post that log ( please put it in CODE tags ) and I'll see if it helps explain the failure, or pass it on to Xau.
Are you using animated water, fire or lava? If so, re-patch without those options and test to see if those increase the duration before failure or eliminate it.
Are you using the custom water file ( you would have had to manually add it to minecraft.jar )? Removing that would be the second alteration I would test.

1285: Out of memory
Yep, it's a memory leak or something. I was fine for quite some time as long as I stayed inside a given area but when I got :SSSS:'d up I had to make my way back across a fair bit of terrain and it crashed. Task manager confirms that minecraft is taking up an insane amount of memory right now, a whole gigabyte just to itself.
I also highly recommend MrMMod's ambient occlusion mod. By way of example, here is a bump-mapped digital image of my grandmother with the ambient occlusion mod installed.
It's that good! Here's the Ambient Occlusion thread.
I'm still slightly unsure as to what the mod does...does it add little lights and shadows everywhere?

I'm not so sure, Minecraft normally allocates a gig of Ram and uses about half that. It may be that you're reaching that limit of the allocated RAM, but I'm not sure that it's a leak.
how large is your world save? How complex are the areas that you are traversing? Are they natural or developed? Are you running any other mods?
i like your textures, nice work.
i just have one bone to pick, if this is reality cubed, why is that breaking progress bar in there? :tongue.gif:
i love the new JohnSmith breaking progress, have you seen it?
Trying out 2.5. I'm liking, as you've fixed my main beef with 2.4, the glass. I think I do now prefer coal in 2.4/2.5 over 2.1. There were too many times in deep dark caves when I couldn't tell if I was looking at a dangerous, unlit cave above me or a nice vein of coal :biggrin.gif:
I've been using dungeon cobble - another huge success in my book, just like regular cobble. Now to figure out some design aesthetics by trying to match some other, lesser used blocks like clay and wool.
Screenshots finally added. Took me long enough. More, SSs to come as I play a bit more and texture a bit less. Some may actually contain structures! :0
Next release will be incredibly cool GUI re-textures. It's a secret design, but here's a clue, you probably made something like these in camp when you were twelve.

Freaking spot on observation tiagosilva!
Last night I introduced a friend to Minecraft. I let him start up in the default pack and play for a half hour or so ( Until the cookies were baked mmmmmm... ) Then I toggled him to Sanguine and let him try that. He loved it, and it was really the first time I sat and watched someone else play with this pack. I actually got to look at it from a really fresh perspective.
The first thing I thought was. That progress bar is cool and all, but totally out of place.
I'm putting the GUI changes on hold and working on awesome cracks.
Thanks for trying it out! PM me your best screenshot! I might add it to the post.

I'm glad to have the windows back too! What do you mean when you say " trying to match some other, lesser used blocks"?
Give me your opinion if you don't mind. Last night I was discussing creating flagstones from the wool blocks. This way you'd have another, larger patterned, stone block that would make great looking, quiet floors.
I don't know how many people use wool for the white block though. I know I rarely use it. I call them "Science blocks" because I use them to build test contraptions out of in my laboratory. Just because they're high-contrast. other than that I hardly use em.
It would be a bit odd punching sheep and small floating blocks of flagstone pavers flying out of it, but I think I may try it just to have a new stone block.
I meant that I rarely use blocks like wool and clay for building, and that I wanted to try them out. I'm building a library soon, and am not sure on the appropriate flooring. I've previously tried a rug design with wool and adminium, surrounded by planks, which worked quite well, but I think I'll try clay for a slightly warmer feel.
You're thinking of changing the progress bar?! Noooo!!! [/me fears change]

I see. I'm also looking for a better flooring choice. I have a really nice flagstone pattern, but no block to put it on. So, what do you think about my replacing wool with it? By he way, do you edit your inventory to get clay? I can't find hardly any. And it drops clay balls rather than Blocks. :sad.gif:

Breathe slowly into this paper bag! It's ok. The arc mining progress bar is already available as a separate download. Click the image in my sig.
I've never had a problem finding clay on any world. Just travel the sandy coasts, you always find some.
Clay balls morph back into clay blocks - 4 of them =1 block.

I was fine for quite some time as long as I stayed inside a given area but when I got :SSSS:'d up I had to make my way back across a fair bit of terrain and it crashed. Task manager confirms that minecraft is taking up an insane amount of memory right now, a whole gigabyte just to itself.
I'm still slightly unsure as to what the mod does...does it add little lights and shadows everywhere?
Hamumu.com, the site I should thank for helping me find minecraft.
version 2.5 - a.k.a. The devil is in the alpha channel! - 11/13/10 8:30 PM
It creates soft shadows from 3-d objects.
I'm not so sure, Minecraft normally allocates a gig of Ram and uses about half that. It may be that you're reaching that limit of the allocated RAM, but I'm not sure that it's a leak.
how large is your world save? How complex are the areas that you are traversing? Are they natural or developed? Are you running any other mods?
i just have one bone to pick, if this is reality cubed, why is that breaking progress bar in there? :tongue.gif:
i love the new JohnSmith breaking progress, have you seen it?
Cheers
I've been using dungeon cobble - another huge success in my book, just like regular cobble. Now to figure out some design aesthetics by trying to match some other, lesser used blocks like clay and wool.
Keep up the good work :smile.gif:
Clay balls morph back into clay blocks - 4 of them =1 block.
