Misa! i just wanted to say that i absolutely adore your texture pack, i've only been playing minecraft for a few months now but i've tried several HD packs since i began. In my honest opinion your pack is the best one out there. thanks for making it! :biggrin.gif:
Sorry for posting the same thing twice, but I would really appreciate if someone could help me. I followed the instalation instructions. Yet when I go to open minecraft, it says initializing folders (I think). Then the screen goes black, my browser freezes, then the screen turns white. Any help on how to fix?
Also to all those saying the old lapis lazuli block is better, on vanilla it's just a solid blue block with no detail at all. My framing is something that'd only be visible on my pack, as would my tile-look. If you're looking for a solid blue block, why would you use lapis lazuli blocks when you can get more blue cloth blocks out of the same amount of lapis lazuli required? To me it seems to be a completely useless block at this point.
Sorry Misa, but the vanilla lapis lazuli blocks aren't a solid blue block. There are some different shades of blue within it, about as much as you can get in a 16x16 texture and still have it look good. The non-tile lapis lazili is much closer to the vanilla and in my opinion looks pretty.
Not to mention, you call this a realistic pack. In real life, lapis lazuli is a gem stone, not a tile. It was even crushed into a pigment stain glass. How does that fit with tiles?
Your argument to just use blue wool just seems odd. Blue wool looks nothing lapis. Maybe someone for whatever reason wanted a blue castle. Wouldn't they rather have something with the texture of stone rather than wool?
While I can see there are some uses for your tile texture, it just seems like those options are still extremely limiting to floors or even walls (which in most cases would require the walls to be two thick) in a bathroom or kitchen.
Why are we still going on about this? The vote ended over the weekend. The change is already completed for next update. I'll address this anyway though because I've nothing better to do!

False. It IS a solid blue block even if it's not a single shade of blue in color. Obviously I didn't mean it had no color variance, I meant the pattern has no edges or major shapes in it, nothing like say a frame or tile lines. It's still a solid blue block for all intents and purposes. Just as cloth blocks would be considered a solid texture. Sure there's some minor color variance to add texturing, but there's no definitive shape or pattern other than a plain square with no borders.

The non-tile lapis lazili is much closer to the vanilla...
One could argue it's closer to vanilla, sure. (Objectively that's neither a good nor bad thing.) Though one could also argue that the tile form is closer to vanilla. The vanilla texture is flat, the tiles are flat, the old lapis lazuli texture of mine has beveled slopes and a protruding frame. Topographically it contrasts much more to vanilla than some simple grid lines. Doesn't matter though, both are terrible arguments for why one should be used instead of the other.

...and in my opinion looks pretty.
In my opinion and the majority of the voter's opinions the tiles look better. A single opinion after the fact isn't going to be enough to appeal against all the people who voted for the other option. I didn't complain about or contest the cobblestone-style netherrack winning when I didn't vote for it, myself. I held a vote, the public spoke, I upheld the results.

Not to mention, you call this a realistic pack. In real life, lapis lazuli is a gem stone, not a tile.
False. Lapis Lazuli is only a gemstone when it is cut and polished for adornments. It is a semi-precious stone which has multiple uses today and historically. Lapis Lazuli is extremely commonly made into tiles. Try looking stuff up before you make completely false assertions like this. Hell, even a simple Google image search would acceptably cover this base. What I'd like to know is how exactly is the old lapis lazuli a more realistic application of the mineral? I can find tons of imagery of lapis lazuli tiles with little effort. I'd doubt finding anything in reality resembling my old tile would be an easy task.

It was even crushed into a pigment stain glass. How does that fit with tiles?
How does it not? You list one use and somehow that prohibits it from being used for other things? What kind of an argument is that? Limestone is used to neutralize acid in soil. How does that fit with it being used as blocks to build the pyramids? or Gold was melted and cast to make coins. How does that fit with it being used as a strong conductor in electrical wiring? Various materials can have more than one use.

Your argument to just use blue wool just seems odd. Blue wool looks nothing lapis.
When averaged they're the exact same hue (I designed them that way to show that one came from the other). From a distance they both just look like largely solid blue blocks. I wouldn't say that's visually NOTHING in common between the two.

Maybe someone for whatever reason wanted a blue castle. Wouldn't they rather have something with the texture of stone rather than wool?
If someone wants a blue castle, why are they using a realistic texture pack? And how does the tiled look NOT have a texture of stone? Really though, say someone was building an unrealistic blue castle. Would it not be more practical to build it out of cloth blocks due to the material usage? It takes multiple chunks of lapis lazuli to make one lapis lazuli block, yet takes one lapis lazuli to make multiple blue cloth blocks. You'd need a TON of this fairly rare material to pull this off. If you're just cheating and using server block spawn commands or the TooManyItems mod, why would you give a crap about realism when you can just edit any block in the texture pack to look like anything you wanted then spawn a bunch of it? Of course the old lapis lazuli will still be in the alternates.png file, so it wouldn't matter much anyway that the default has been changed to something else.

Okay so it's limited to walls and floors. So that leaves out... what? It's unusable as a ceiling? How limited! (I'll ignore the two-block thick wall argument as that can be applied to every single block in the game.) As far as types of buildings, I don't see the limitations being to only kitchens and bathrooms. They'd compliment them quite well, but I can't think of much that you'd build out of the other lapis lazuli texture that you couldn't also build with the tile-form without it still looking good. Even the bizarre blue castle wouldn't be visually harmed by the switch. It'd just look like it was comprised of smaller blocks, which realistically would make more sense considering how extremely rare large cut slabs of lapis lazuli would be by comparison. Why a defensive structure would be built of a semi-precious material to begin with is still beyond me, but there it is! Besides if you want to talk about limited use, the old lapis lazuli block I made doesn't even make a decent floor! Unless you like tripping on bulging frames and walking on uneven surfaces.
Honestly though, I don't see why any of this matters. I'm only changing the default. It takes 30 seconds to revert to any older tile with terrain.png and ALTERNATES.png. If you'd like other alternates, feel free to suggest them. Best place to do that is in my Tinychat (link in sig.) as I can give you an immediate response as well as send you your alternate tile by itself without you having to wait for the rest of the pack to be updated to use them. I have some rules on submissions to prevent myself from being overworked or inadvertently providing support for someone's mod. And if you want alts for a large amount of textures, you're better off finding another texture pack anyway. I'm not gonna custom-tailor everyone a complete texture pack.
Now on a completely unrelated note I'd like to announce that I've already skinned a majority of the new Enderman mob from 1.8 with style inspiration from H.R. Giger's works. Hopefully it'll turn out creepy enough in-game that pants will be shat. >

This... why do people find it so hard to use google and watch a five minute video on how to do it?
Honestly people I didnt know **** about texture editing or anything a few months ago, I wanted to keep Albion alive so I looked up how to change textures and I've only gotten better from there. Just change things to your liking and then there's no reason to argue with the makers of awesome packs.
Also Misa, I'm not sure if you've noticed but I used some of your textures in the 64x Albion pack, including mobs, font, blocks, etc. lots of misc stuff. I'm not planning on continuing it after 1.8 as I dont know how to actually create textures yet. The creator of that pack went MIA long ago and I didnt want the pack to die, so I updated and uploaded it with some of your content. I asked u in this post if it was ok long ago but never got a response. Anyways ty either way cause its already done :tongue.gif:

I do not respond to permission requests in my thread, please ask via PM or my Tinychat. Sometimes a bit of a question exchange is required and I'd rather keep the thread clear for discussion of the texture pack itself.
Hey Misa, i have remade "better than wolves mod" Textures, using your textures, i was just wondering, would u consider adding my BTW textures to your mod support. plz!!! xP
They look really nice, except most of the gui's r kinda repeated because idk how to make them badass (cough cough like u cough cough) lol any way, if u do consider adding them to ur mod support would u plz fix the gui's
You could use this one until we get a new version. Just copy paste this over the one in your terrain.png I borrowed it from Adriorn's RealÃstico pre-alpha texture pack.
Just consider it a place holder until Misa make's the change. That way the deal ain't broken and you get to use the rest of the texture pack. Also, please never tell the story about your endoscopy to anyone ever again. Thanks. :smile.gif:
Sorry for not mentioning this sooner, but thanks for that, it looks really great. Now the nether actually feels like hell instead of my lower intestine.

Well I read you installation instructions and thought, hmmm I'm only trying out the 64 texture pack, I'll just download and install it into the terrain packs folder and ignore the McPatcher stuff and see what happens.
Well it loaded and in no time I was playing with your pack. Very impressive I must say. I generally prefer a lighter pack, especially when mining but the graphics on this are so good I didn't care about the darker textures. I'll have to 'alter' some of the tools as I've been using Zombe's to change the flavour of minecraft by altering the wooden and stone picks/axes to flint in order to make the beginning of the game a bit more of a challenge. Its only for my personal use though.
I'm assuming the Mcpatcher is only to be used if one wants to install randomobs and/or wild grass. I can imagine myself doing that shortly once I've got my flint tools properly fleshed out.
You need either MCpatcher or another mod like OptiFine that allows the use of HD textures. Personally, I currently use OptiFine 1.7.3_HD_F_MTL.
Ahhh, that might explain why it worked. I've been using Optifog/Optimine for my old computer and its still loaded on this new one. I guess when I remove it I'll have to get McPatcher to use 64x64 terrain files. Either that or just update to Optifine instead.
I LOVE this texture pack! I've been looking for a realistic texture pack for a long time, but other ones (Namely LBPhotoRealism) make my game run out of memory somehow, and glitch it up.
This one is better, not only in it's Randomobs compatibility, but the fact that it looks realistic without being a 128x or something to that effect.
My only regret is that you (Judging by the FAQ) won't make some GUIs for the Better Than Wolves mod. (I like to texture items myself, But I can't really work with the GUIs)
P.S. Those spiders have some funky colors. o_o Win.
