I'd second that. Mojang should hire Misa to do their art, with her first act being a high res-texture pack (optional, of course). I'm in. Let's make this happen Internet.
I'm flattered, but I dunno If I'd want to do art for Mojang officially as a living. Though I do have some artistic skill, art isn't really one of my big pursuits/hobbies in general. If I were to get a job in game design, I'd actually prefer to be a lead designer--preferably for projects of my chosing. I'm most comfortable with conceptualization, documentation, mechanics and and their organization. But for me, even game design is more of a pipe dream than anything.
Providing the next move goes well and I've the opportunity, I'd like to go back to school and major in biology. Where I'd want to take that with graduate programs I cannot ultimately say. I'd like to get a feel for what's available/feasible before deciding on anything. That and what I'd like to do flip-flops way too much over time being idle. Right now, I'd ideally like to attend medical school and go into veterinary medicine, but a few years from now, who knows.
Who said "for a living"? Fix their art, collect 2 years of some of that sweet sweet cashola Microsoft shelled out and then go about your merry way fixing animals or dissecting them or where ever you were going with that.
MCPatcher for 1.8 is still in development, Kahr has released an 'alpha' type version of it (shaky and incomplete but works...for most..) you can find that near the end of the MCPatcher forum in a post Kahr made. That is why the options are greyed out. The link to the page is:
You can open the resource pack folder via the video options within the game. After you open it you can make a shortcut for it for your desktop to access later. For some reason it is not findable via windows (at least for me and sounds like you? =P )
You also need the 2 patches that fans of this pack have made while Misa is away. Lescard60 has made the links to these available on his thread along with a brief explanation on how to use them together found here:
Misa, hope you get some time to combine these patches into a single work, at the least, as a step forward, but it's nice to know we don't have to use something else out of sheer necessity.
Does anyone have a copy of a really old version of this texture pack for like early beta minecraft? I have always wanted to try a version around the beta 1.1 era.
Misa, are you going to keep updating this texture pack? I read how you wanted to start studying stuff which I think is good, but do you have plans to update your texture pack. You are very good at art and your texture pack is amazing, and I'd like to see you awesomeize the blocks and stuff. The patches that people made are good, but nothing as authentic... Either way, I hope you get these IRL troubles all sorted out, it must be very hard.

Anyone have any comparisons/opinions regarding these two patches? Seem pretty similar from the screenshots. Any major faults in either?
Warning, the following is strictly personal opinion from a cranky old guy with no clue what it takes to create a pack. Take the statements with a grain of salt.
They're both quite good, and they're both fairly complete. Les' patch has fantastic color glass files, and is more of his own style breaking through than XDb's, with the prismarine is well done, albeit a bit overpowering in it's animation. XDb's 1.8 stones (Andesite, etc.) in the 1.3 version are much more in line with what I would have hoped Misa would make than Les's but the Prismarine blocks are quite dark. Dark enough that the interior of a dried out Ocean Temple is too dark to see squat, even with a million torches.
XDb's rabbits are a little more diverse, but I can see people split evenly over one or the others rabbits. They're both rendered well enough to make it simply personal preference.
I like Les's leaves but XDb's logs. I'm partial to XDb's red sandstone, but again, it's because it's more faithful to the rest of the Misa pack, where Les's is very well done, but just as with the Andesite and such, they' re done in a slightly less (more original) Misa-istic style. Honestly, if I had the time to pick and choose files from these two patches, and some from Pcsof42's original patch to create my own personal use patch, I would. But I don't, and instead I end up bouncing back and forth between the two on a regular basis. Actually, I'd like to see both of these authors develop their patches into full blown packs some day.
So to not answer your question directly, try them both. Both authors seem eager to make a very good patch, and have acted on constructive critiques in their respective threads. I've been following both and can't make up my mind as to which I'll use permanently.
Took a quick video walkthrough of the Monument. Please forgive the severe lagginess of the video, I have no proper screen recording software, just the Quicktime utility, which is not known for smooth video.
Fair enough. Different perspectives or expectations on the block I guess. On the Realms server I belong to, I had turned a Monument into a hotel/resort back when I was using Les's add-on pack, and it came across well. When I switch to your pack though, it's foreboding and moody.
Could also just be the yellow-red range indoor lighting in my pack interacting with tiles that are in the blue-cyan range. Being in completely opposite ends of the spectrum, you'd expect some darkening, and loss of color. If this game had proper colored dynamic lighting, it'd be very easy to get around this by having sea lanterns give off a cooler-colored band of the spectrum. Unfortunately a system like that's probably too much to expect from the developers of this game.
I'm sure these blocks don't look all that dark when exposed to direct sunlight or moonlight. Also if the whole game was too bright, you'd never have a need to brew a night vision potion. All that said, this feedback will come in useful for the early design stages whenever I am able to actually work on the pack again.

Woohoo! I detect a hint here that Misa will return and work on the pack. Maybe I'll go in a different direction with mine and make some horrible choices, then Misa will feel the need to fix it in complete disgust of what I've done.. muhahhahahhha. Hope my plan works
Caught that too, did ya? Though I was totally sincere, I think both you and XDoodleBug need to start planning on fleshing out your add-on packs. They're both worthy of eventually becoming their own entities once Misa can resume her role as a master MineCraft artist. You both have some really good ideas and unique styles that could easily stand on their own merits.

CaN you please give me misa600? thanks
Both questions were ansered on the last few pages of this thread.
Meanwhile use the patches http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/1245870-misas-realistic-resource-1-8-patch-by-les-updated or http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/2255976-xdbs-misa-patch-1-8-updated-03-11-2014
Hey, can I have the one for beta 1.1_02? I want to try it. If anyone knows which one that is.

Will do. Probably have to be tomorrow morning, been up too long to think straight right now.
