I've been using Notepad++ for many years and am no stranger to hex editors and programming language syntax and all that. My comment was more sympathetic to the majority of artists with no background in this kind of thing. It was also a more general statement about how the convolution of the properties editing system will likely cause a lot of grief for texture pack artists--likely a complete discouragement to many of the newer artists just starting up, as well as the more entrenched artists with a ton of advanced features to maintain.
Look on the bright side. Maybe these resource packs will allow for you to add more depth to your texture pack, like sounds.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Some may say I'm 10 pounds of crap, but I'd say it's more like 11 and a half..."
Coupling all this with the fact that I'm personally struggling a losing battle to keep myself from ending up homeless and starving on the streets, this is shaping up to be a wonderful day.
I opened the zip with Windows Explorer and just copied and pasted the objects in the pack to an empty folder. Should have thought of that earlier, but oh well!
Hello Misa, any news lately? a new snapshot has been released, so, if you finally won that battle you were talking about, you could start the pack again if you ever need any help, just talk to me
the issue I'm having is I can't get the zip file to extract all the files.
7-Zip has some kind of issue with the way the zip is packed that causes it to hang during extraction.
Windows Explorer can be used to extract everything. Then use 7-Zip to repack it.
Huge fan of your pack. It's the only one I'll use so I sincerely hope you are able to work through the issues for the new update!
To everyone who responded about Misa's financial issues with something to the effect of "I love your work (for free)...but I don't care if you're homeless since there's nothing I can do about it", you can. Donate. Little amounts add up.
Glad to know you still have the 1.4.7. version on.
after my account got terminated [reason unknown, dont ask why]
i've been stuck on 1.4.7., which means i kinda lost access to all things now.
btw, its beautiful, thanks.
okay... 1.6 isn't officially released yet. only the pre-release.
MCPatcher isn't even released yet. THERE IS NO NEED TO ASK FOR THE RELEASE OF THIS YET!
From past experience, it will be released when it's ready. Somewhere Misa also said she tries to release it within the 1st day, but isn't always able or something like that.
In any case, it will be released when it's ready AND NOT SOONER. Just keep checking back here about every day (or every few hours) if you really want it AFTER 1.6 is officially released (AND MCPatcher is updated).
Misa... I think I speak for all of us when I say <THANK YOU>.
I have used like every other texture pack and they are pretty much embarrassing next to yours. You are kick ass and you make Minecraft better.
The only reason I made a curse account was so that I could post this and thank you. You rock.
*worships*
</THANK YOU>
PS. Are you considering doing any new 'Resource Pack' sounds with the new update? Maybe collabing with someone?
If she gets a microphone to work with, she may do it also, misa, if you are planning to do it, buy some Headphones with a microphone attached to it, they are cheap as far as i know, so, you shouldnt have any problems with it

There is only one thing about this thread that i dont like, its the lack of new posts per day, there were only 2 or 3 new posts today, so, because of this, it gets boring to keep checking daily, i really enjoyed Misa´s posts, they were fun, but, well, she hasnt posted in a while now i hope she's okay
I'm alive, I'm alive. I've just been really busy. Part of the reason I mentioned my real life problem was so people would be somewhat understanding of the situation should I not be as active on the forums as I was. And then when I was able to check the thread, I mostly just saw people arguing over whether or not they should be worrying about my problems or if it was or wasn't in their capacity to aid me. Seeing how off-topic everything was and how few actual questions there were on the pack to respond to I was kinda afraid to touch the thread with a 20 foot pole.
Regarding that:
I should probably address this all just to clear up confusion and establish my thoughts on the subject:
-At this point, going by current income, savings, and bills it appears likely that I'll end up homeless by the end of the summer. I'm working hard to prevent that from happening, but a large part of my effort at this point is going into planning for the worst. It's still possible I may be able to overcome this, but I do need to buy some time until an opportunity presents itself.
-Should you care? No one's forcing you to, but if you enjoy or rely on this texture pack, note that it cannot continue if I'm unable to work on it. Saying you're just here for the texture pack and couldn't care less about the author is a bit short-sighted. If you genuinely do care about the pack though, you by necessity must care about the author to at least some degree. Texture packs aren't just magically poofed into existence by the Internet. But if you don't care about the pack too much and can take or leave it, you're likely fully justified to be completely apathetic. After all, I'm just some random stranger on the Internet.
-Is there anything anyone can do to help? Regardless of your status, there's always something you can do. This pack is the closest thing I have to a job at the moment. The job doesn't pay well enough to live off of by itself, but it does help. I usually enjoy the work and have no desire to ask for money or charge people for my services. I'd rather give out my work for free and let people decide for themselves whether they appreciate the work enough to support it. Several of you with the means to do so have donated, and I greatly appreciate the support and personally thank you all. All of the money is going directly towards food and shelter and really does help keep this pack alive longer. That said, I know not everyone has the means to donate money, and I think no less of you for it (Afterall, I'm in a similar position.). There are however simple things you CAN do to help. Clicking the adfly links when downloading or just once in awhile for no good reason does add up over time if enough people do it. While clicking an ad link over and over may seem kinda obnoxious there's also simple word of mouth advertisement for the pack. An act as simple as telling friends about the texture pack goes a long way in increasing my chances of receiving support for my work.
Now that that's out of the way, I should mention that depsite the real life problems, I have still made some progress on the Minecraft-related stuff--it's just been more behind the scenes. I've been working with Kahr by providing bug test feedback and suggestions for formatting issues and features for the 1.6 version of MCPatcher. And for those wondering about conversion who haven't checked out the MCPatcher thread in awhile, Kahr's converter will pretty much handle everything that Dinnerbone's doesn'. (Yet again). Also with the format change, MCPatcher-specific files will now have their own directory and organized file structure to avoid formatting confusion with vanilla features and allow room for Minecraft and MCPatcher to expand in the future without damaging each other.
Apart from the conversion, I've been adding a lot of support for new (currently experimental) features to the pack--namely in the area of the CIT mod (for those who have been following the beta development of MCPatcher). All that remains to be done on the pack for a 1.6 release is to finish up some minor stuff with the horses and finish up my support for custom enchantment animations. At this point I don't forsee too much that'll prevent me from being able to finish that by Monday when 1.6 is officially released.
Regarding resource packs/sound packs:
I notice there's been quite a bit of a buzz about resource packs and sound packs and I thought I had made my position on this clear, but I'll attempt to do so further. I think people should probably wait things out a bit and not put too much into Mojang's hyping of the whole "death of texture packs/birth of resource packs" thing. In all likelihood texture packs will still be released as texture packs, sound packs will be released as sound packs. There may be some people who release combined texture and sound packs, but ultimately I don't see it becoming the standard for every currently-existing texture pack. Besides there's a few other discrepancies on this resource pack mindset to take into account:
-A gift for visual artistry doesn't always translate to a gift for audio creation. That's not to say authors can't be skilled in multiple disciplines, but to expect every artist to be that was is unrealistic. -In most development situations you don't have artists who are also working as sound designers because specialization and division of labor is typically the best way to produce quality components for any body of work.
-This is still a modding community, and even the most well-established modding communities for games that officially promote modding (See the Bethesda FPRPG's) still make a distinction between categories of mods. Texture and sound mode are always in their own separate categories--despite the games being packaged with a single official modding tool.
-People into game modding are typically into it because they like being able to custom-tailor the game to suit their preferences. Being able to mix and match different textures and sounds would be preferable than being forced to download multiple, large combined packs that need to be later edited to have the sounds you want with the textures you want. While 'Mods' typically stand for 'modification,' they also have a strong tendency to be 'modular.'
All that said, for those who missed it the first time I mentioned it, I likely will be making a sound pack that makes use of resources that I do not own the rights to. I am a musician and have worked in sound design before, but do not have the proper equipment to produce my own folley, and it wouldn't be a matter of getting a cheap microphone (I'm too much of a perfectionist for that). The sound pack will be for personal use only, and will not be officially released. However I did mention that I'd probably be sharing it with any of my friends on AIM 'n' such who asked for it. As far as that goes, I'll simply direct you to my profile page on these forums.

Hi, thanks for the nice texture pack.
But there are a few mistakes.
1) There is no file detectorRail_on.png.
2) Nether Brick Fence texture black-and-white:
3) Glass don't connected:
4) Glass pane are connected, but there are no textures in the corners:
