Absolutely awesome collection of Mobs! I have yet to see better anywhere in all of Minecraftia. You have done the impossible, at least as far as mobs are concerned, in convincing me of the merits of 64x64. Your artwork and very slick application of it to the surface of the mobs is just stunning and really does show the ammount of attention to detail you've used over the past year! Really, REALLY well done!!
I would second the calls for a release of a mob pack! Any chance of a 32x32 version too! Oh please!
This work is fantastic. ô.ô
Absolutely amazing texture pack. :smile.gif: I`m using it and will never look back to the old pack. Your items and mobs smokes everything I`ve seen so far.
Kudos to you :smile.gif:
As others have commented, those are some of the best mob textures I've seen. Your ghast in particular is now the definitive ghast as far as I'm concerned. I love the pigs, pigmen and spiders too.
I also particularly like your wood textures - planks, chests, workbench, TNT barrel, door, boat, even the bookshelf - they all look great and like they're all made from the same wood. I'd love to see you add a version of the window made with a wood frame. Your tree trunk looks great too. As does the creeper-face pumpkin.
Lots of good stuff here. I love the cobblestone and the way you've integrated it into furnace. The diamond block looks great as does the iron block. It's cool how you made it match the iron door -- I don't think I've seen anyone do that before (and the minecart matches too!). Your dirt and soil textures are rich and earthy. I also really like the cactus and the red brick. Your idea to make the gravel more like sandy dirt with a few stones works well, although it might be nice to make it more distinct from the clay (which, I note, matches the brick very nicely).
Good ideas and great execution. Exceptional job of making the whole thing work together consistently. Thank you for working on this and sharing it with us!
I've mostly played in 32x32, but this is seriously tempting me to take the framerate hit and play in 64x64. Any chance you're interested in doing a 32x32 version?
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I plan to take all good criticism to consideration when improving the pack further.
As per requests, I've added a MOB-Only Pack with 64x64 and 32x32-compatible resolutions for use with other texture packs. I'd do a 16x16 one, but too much detail is lost and can't be refreshed or rebuilt without extensive pixel work. So 32x32 is as low as I'll go, seeing as that's one of the more popular texture pack sizes. Check the bottom of the main thread for download links.
Also I agree mostly with the criticism of the ores and (especially) the icon sheet needing a bit of work. I think the main reason the ores don't stand out as much as they do is that I wanted them to sorta seamlessly blend in with all the solid rock around them. I'll see if I can get them popping out a bit more though while retaining the seamless tiling. As for the redstone ore icon, it looks the way it does to resemble the cut gems that are placed on the ground for redstone circuits.
Glass... Yeah. If Notch recoded the way the glass blocks were handled to support alpha transparency I'd use a glass texture. As a matter of fact though I did use a glassy texture for a good while on my own before switching it to the lattice pattern because the 'shine-marks' were getting on my nerves. Before switching to the lattice I tried removing the streaks altogether and just having a border, but while it made great glass domes, it made glass seem kinda pointless on smaller single windows. Overall I'll probably never be satisfied with glass unless it gets full alpha support, but I'll see what I can do about making alternate glass terrain.png files.
My world 1 has been totally curropted after I copiedyour files into my .jar file...I cant get it back to working
Sorry to hear that. My texture pack shouldn't have affected your save file though, as the systems are completely independent from each other. The only modifications I made were image-based. It might be an issue with the HD texture fix patcher or a bug with the client itself. If the game just isn't loading the world altogether, you probably need to delete the "version" file in your ".../minecraft/bin" folder, load up the game, let it repatch, run the HD texture fix installer, select 64x64, and finally drag my files back into your minecraft.jar.
All I can say is WOW your mobs kick ass and I'm gonna be using them in combination with my texture pack since I'm not planning on doing mobs in mine. I won't be including it with my pack though I think people should def be checking out your pack. And giving credit where credit is due. Thanks I was hoping to come across some mobs that were awesome
