I'm sorry Misa but I have to say this .... Not everyone has enough fine motor control to be able to edit the terrain files.
I am glad that the older textures have been preserved and supplied but ... without a way to circumvent the utter frustration of trying to edit the terrain files, it's useless.
That said, I love the bulk of your pack. My only complaints thus far texture wise are the Nether Brick (I liked the reddish brick better) and the Lapis Blocks (I liked it when they actually matched the Iron, Gold and Diamond blocks).
Despite this, I continue to use your pack and hope that someone will make a customizer for your pack.
ETR: Just went back and saw your view of CTM glass. While I respect said view, there are still some configurations of windows/floors which just don't look right if they're not one piece.
ETA: If anyone could be so kind though ...the Lapis Block in question is the one from Misa's 2.2.1
Ok, first off, LOVE this pack, it is pretty much my daily driver right now
I do however have a question, or maybe it's just me, all the water looks fine, except in swamp biomes it is a dark brown color, even if I turn swamp colors off in the menus (the trees and grass and such change) the water stays brown. Is this just something with the pack, or am I doing something wrong? It's not a deal breaker for me, but it would be nice if the swamp water was a somewhat nicer color... no other packs I have tried have swamp water of this color... any thoughts? anyone??
I love the texture pack but the fog color changing and sky color changing annoys me (however I fixed it by simply deleting these particular files that did that) Same with the sand color changing and gravel color changing (fixed that the same way too) But the water either is like this:
OR this:
It kinda looks like a septic tank explosion. If you decide to remove the watercolor.png however... then you get this:
(Yes, even after I patched it and made sure that custom colors was checked) The new cobble also kinda bugs me, but I could try to change that later using the alternates... Sorry for the harsh critisism... It just sorta frustrates me because I wish I could use this pack again because I truly do think it is amazing, including the animations, but the watercolor and such, I am afraid, really is a very annoying feature to me that I can not change. (Technically... I could but it would kinda be annoying to go in and edit the water color.png every single update.) Again, sorry for being harsh And could someone tell me how to use the show/hide things? I would really like to use them but I dont know how to do it
I don't understand what's with all of the sudden "I don't like custom colours." complaints.
But all I have to say about all the people requesting for help with changing the pack, if you don't know how to do these things, just stick with the default settings, or you will probably run into problems.

Well heck, if i had known all i had to do was edit the brown dot in the watercolorx.png file, i would have done that right away... thanks for the tip... now my water doesn't look like a mud hole
Can't sleep and feel like crap. So in order to occupy myself until I'm able to actually fall asleep, I might as well do some responses to pass the time.
Misa, the preview for version 4.1.4 of your texturepack (pack.png) still says 4.1.3, don't forget to update that in the next version
I already addressed this. Next version will have a different pack graphic that doesn't list the version number so I don't have to worry about forgetting to edit that near-pointless texture every single update.
Yeaah, Misa, awesome teaser shot !!!
Looks like Kahr is working on some awesome CTM features too !
Actually, that's all running on the current version of MCPatcher. An exploit was brought to my attention with CTM that made what I'm working on possible and I just took off with it.
Love the fenceposts, they actually stick out from the wooden blocks instead of blending in if you were making a wooden structure with blocks and fences.
Have you ever thought of sticking a piece of paper to the front of the signpost texture (and having it curl over the edges) so text is easier to see?
No, I haven't. It doesn't seem very realistic to me. I've never seen a wooden sign with paper for the actual sign part outside of cartoon clip-art stuff. The outdoor elements would quickly render such a sign pointless. I figured my signs were made pretty easy to read as it was though, the wood is lighter on the sign face, and the plank divisions and woodgrain are very low contrast compared to my normal wood textures used elsewhere.

But now that it doesn't look like it is made of black Nether Brick, I am quite looking forward to it. I'm hoping I can find some way to make normal Nether Brick the original dark purpley-red, instead of the light pink.
You don't need to. Thanks to the CTM exploit I'm taking advantage of, the old nether brick texture method will be returning.
I'm sorry Misa but I have to say this .... Not everyone has enough fine motor control to be able to edit the terrain files.
I am glad that the older textures have been preserved and supplied but ... without a way to circumvent the utter frustration of trying to edit the terrain files, it's useless.

Mamiya summed it up pretty well. Zoom is your friend in pretty much every image editor out there, as is the grid and snap to grid tools available in most image editors. No fine motor control required.
Anyway I wouldn't call what I've done useless. I could've elected to not preserve outdated and include bonus textures with which to customize the pack with. As it is, I don't see a customizer in the near future for my pack. If you understood the level of work that's gone into making the pack function the way it does, you'd understand how it's practically impossible on so many levels to make a simple terrain.png customizer for my pack. A large portion of my textures completely ignore terrain.png at this point.
As for CTM glass. CTM itself is a bonus feature, not an essential part of a balanced texture pack. I'm not including it until I have the control I want over glass in general. Besides, people have already released fan versions of CTM glass for my pack, just search down and grab one of those if you absolutely must have it.
Is it only my impression or her texture are now more vanilla-ish? But it's not like if it was a bad thing.
Technically it is your impression regardless of whether or not its true. Anyway, what do you mean by now? I didn't think I changed anything recently to be more vanilla-ish. I've kinda stuck with general vanilla designs from the start with my own take on them.
...The new cobble also kinda bugs me, but I could try to change that later using the alternates... Sorry for the harsh critisism... It just sorta frustrates me because I wish I could use this pack again because I truly do think it is amazing, including the animations, but the watercolor and such, I am afraid, really is a very annoying feature to me that I can not change. Wait. New cobble? What? I haven't touched the cobblestone in nearly a year. Anyway I'm not going to change the biome coloring stuff just for a couple users considering that the biome palettes for sky and water met with much praise and success upon their release and the biome palettes in my pack now are so simple to edit that anyone can easily edit them--even in MS Paint! If you don't want to redo the work each update, save your changes to a folder or archive and merge them with mine each update. It'd take only a second.
I work my ass off for hours at a time on this pack. Anyone can do a couple minutes worth of simple tweaking if the pack doesn't meet their needs at default. I even provide resources to help with customization. If there's something you can change yourself, and it's nothing that's overwhelmingly opposed by the majority of vocal users of my pack early on, there's not much of a point in asking me to change it now. Most of these features have been around since last year, so it's likely that there wasn't enough criticism at their implementation to warrant any global changes. I cannot tailor the pack to every single person's needs simultaneously--it's physically impossible.
I'm sure I'm gonna be busy enough as it is dealing with misplaced feedback regarding the next update with the creative mode GUI change that's not backwards compatible with older versions of the game. The changelog for the next version so far is pretty big. Hopefully most will be able to appreciate the effort I've put into the next version. Here's a sneak peek of the current changelog:
-Updated the trading GUI window to accomodate trading of two items at a time.
-Added support for the new creative mode block menu.
-Added animated emerald block texture.
-Added textures for tripwire hooks and placed string.
-Added CTM support for iron blocks.
-Added CTM support for sugar cane.
-Added CTM support for obsidian which has also received a new, more realistic and less noisy look.
-Added unique fence art for both fence types and fence gates. (They're not perfect from some angles, but way better than the default.)
-Added unique top and bottom art to nether bricks.
-Added unique art to stone and wooden pressure plates now that tripwire is the camouflage way to do traps--also improves the look of tables.
-Added unique art to stone buttons to help them stand out a bit.
-Added unique tops and bottoms to all wool blocks to add some mild variety to wool blocks being used as carpeting.
-Removed animations from iron blocks and iron doors to accomodate CTM iron blocks.
-Slightly redesigned the look of iron doors to match the new look of iron blocks.
-Slightly darkened the item icon for sugar cane to match the new look of sugar cane.
-Updated the enchantment tables and enderchests to reflect the new look of obsidian.
-Slightly lightened the color of Nether fences to better showcase the new textures.
-Reverted to the old coloring method for nether bricks and nether brick stairs. (Fences will look weird in the inventory and hand only.)
-Removed the wood variance from half-steps and stairs made of oak planks to accomodate the new fence textures.
-Various colored blocks in the mushroom biome are now a bit more vibrantly colored than elsewhere.
-Created a proper logo for pack.png that doesn't require me to constantly update it with each version.
-Fixed the issue with biome stone coloring not being applied to emerald ore blocks.
-Moved obsolete textures from terrain.png to ALTERNATES.png
-Added a few new requested tiles to ALTERNATES.png
I don't understand what's with all of the sudden "I don't like custom colours." complaints.
But all I have to say about all the people requesting for help with changing the pack, if you don't know how to do these things, just stick with the default settings, or you will probably run into problems.

Now see - I'm glad you're polite about it, unlike some of the others. Snapping the .png to a grid is something I'll have to try it looks like. Trust me, I understand rather well how much work goes into your pack Misa - it's not as if I'm utterly clueless. I do apologize concerning the useless remark ... It's simply rather frustrating to me, that's all. As for CTM .... There's a reason I edited my post the way I did. I understand rather well how you feel about it. I have used packs in the past that had CTM glass which simply did not look/work correctly. That said, I'd rather wait for you to integrate it yourself than monkey around with someone else's interpretation of your glass in CTM.

Any chance we could get a preview of the new obsidian? To be honest it's never really been one of my favorites.
REALLY looking forward to the next update! Your work is always amazing. I envy your ability to continue working on this, and constantly keeping up to date.

Oh crap, what have I gotten myself into -- well anyway, to clarify... Havent used this texture since exaclty... 7/23/11 (earliest back screenshot I could find that had this pack in it) That is why I had a lot to talk about, its been like 11 months since ive even used it.. and now that I look at the cobble more I am in fact getting used to it. Again, sorry for being such a butt about your pack and all... I was real tired and grouchy yesterday... So now I will start to edit... And thanks for being as polite as you were. xD I was expecting a much... MUCH worse reaction based on past complaints on other packs
And did you change the colored lighting a bit? If you did, it looks amazing compared to default, nice job on that!!!
what it your prediction on the packs update day. Your pics look great and i cant wait for the connected textures support. keep up the good work and i hope you respond with a prediction
How did you change the wool top? CTM? And the buttons and fences? Weren't they coded to be
PS: Your endstone was just made to change the ugly looking vanilla block to something that resembles marble, right?

That said, I'd rather wait for you to integrate it yourself than monkey around with someone else's interpretation of your glass in CTM.
Any chance we could get a preview of the new obsidian?
REALLY looking forward to the next update! Your work is always amazing. I envy your ability to continue working on this, and constantly keeping up to date.
Edit: And I tought the older one was very good. This is awesome!
Your Ender Chest is awesome too. Espically the small... portal (?) on it.
PS: Your endstone was just made to change the ugly looking vanilla block to something that resembles marble, right?
