I finally got the patcher to work, and it says that it was a success, but when I boot up the game I just get a black screen. I've tried installing it by dragging the files in as well and I get the same problem.

Do you guys just ignore the progress bar when Minecraft updates? There's been a major updates to the game and you're expecting the old patcher to work. If you must have HD textures I find that 1.1.9_01 will work by rolling back the game to 1.2.2

Hey, guys.
Beta = released to the public.
Minecraft Alpha is Beta.
And don't turn this statement into an argument, please.

My favorite pack hands down. I've spent a lot of time cruising these forums trying to find something just right and you have provided a heaping portion of win Misa.
If I could ask a question that may also turn in to a request. I have absolutely no idea how to edit textures, other than to use copy paste in paint.net so I can use provided alternates. Is there some way to simply take a block, and lighten the whole thing without changing its texture at all? The only issue I am having with your pack is that it just seems really dark. I feel like I have to place twice as many torches in a dark place for it to be comfortably lit up, and I believe that it is simply because the colors used are just DARK. I love the look and feel of your pack, but want the stone related blocks to be a bit brighter so I don't need to spam torches to see comfortably.
Is this something I can easily do myself? If so, would you be able to link me to a good place to educate me? (I really have NO experience image editing) Or last resort, could you go out of your way to provide such an edit yourself? Many thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
I mean part of it is just me I think. I mean if I'm in my house with the kind of lighting I used to need, its not like I can't see. I can see just fine. It just takes more WORK to see if you know what I mean... I used to run around down in caves and I'd be fine dropping a torch at my feet every 7-9 cells when I'm just blazing a trail, and if I'm doing some actual mining, I would have one ever 5 cells or so. I feel like those numbers have been reduced to 5-6 and 3 respectively... All I have changed is the texture pack. before this I was just using the base textures of the game.
I am having an error. After the most recent patch your texture pack was gone, so I reinstalled it. I as well as others have gotten this error (this is a quote taken from the HD texture fix thread)

Hey there, I'm having a bit of a problem myself while patching:
I am trying to install the texture pack I was using before the latest patch (misa's 64x64 realistic overhaul) and basically the patcher just stalls. If I have everything checked it stalls at
Replacing oc.class
Reading terrain.png...
Reading gui/items.png...
Reading misc/dial.png...
Patching class: Minecraft (net/minecraft/client/Minecraft.class)
pass Minecraft to oc.<init> - <init>@124
pass Minecraft to iy.<init> - [email protected]
pass Minecraft to ba.<init> - <init>@136
pass Minecraft to ey.<init> - [email protected]
and if I leave custom water and custom lava unchecked like I used to it blocks at
and stands still until I shut it down myself. The progress bar is at 100% if this may be of help, thx in advance.
Any and all help would be much appreciated. I am a huge fan of this texture pack, no other appeals to me like this one. Awesome work! (some variations of this are black screen on startup, a java error after mojang screen, or a "done loading" screen indefinitely)
Hey, I really like this pack out of most of them that are on here. But I just got a bit of constructive criticism. My broski pointed out that the lava looks like cheese. And I agree.
:tongue.gif:
Cheers for the texture pack, been using it for the past 2 months or so?
Edit: alright I'm trying the 1.5 pack and for some reason I open up minecraft at it freezes at 'done loading'.
or follow the fscking directions and don't use the hdpatcher to copy her files into the jar, only use it for adding hd support. Then drag the files in yourself.
I updated the instructions to use the patcher a few days ago, since the latest version of the patcher supports patching of all the files it didn't before.
ah yes, I see you did. I think it was premature though, loads of people are having problems using the patcher to apply the texture pack, while running the patcher then copying in the files by hand is working fine.
Clearly this is a problem with the patcher, but it still means the instructions as they currently are don't work for people. I'd advise people to copy your stuff in by hand, while noting that this will not be necessary when / if the patcher is fixed up
3. Do not close the patcher or else it reverts my minecraft.jar to the original
4. Start it up using the patcher.
Anyway thanks again for such a great texture pack! my only little gripe is the armor, maybe I can figure our a way to use a different texture packs armor...
Hope your hand is ok, Misa, because it sure is talented at making Minecraft better.
Thanks. It basically got sliced to the bone along the bottom and outer edges of the palm. No tendons or nerves were cut though so it's not life-altering or anything. I couldn't afford to go in and get it stitched so I basically have to just baby it and keep it held together long enough for it to patch itself. I should be back to normal by the end of the week.

I don't use paint.net, myself, but a quick google search has revealed this: http://eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/doc/2.6/H ... ments.html
I'd suggest using the Brightness/Contrast tool. Be sure to increase contrast about 50% of the amount you increase brightness to avoid it from becoming too grey. For instance if you raise the brightess by 10%, raise the contrast by 5%.
Another, much easier thing to do would be to increase the gamma on your video card or monitor's display settings.

The Japanese castle in the first post looks amazing. Do you have any more screen shots of it?
There's some on one of my older posts before I even released a texture pack to the public. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=47700&hilit=oriental&start=30#p820905
It doesn't really reflect the current state of how it looks on my map, but better than nothing, I guess!

It did very briefly on like the initial release of 1.4 and was fixed like a day or two later. Unless you're speaking of like burnt, glowing muenster or something...

It's mostly an issue with RAR files not being properly supported by MCPatcher. I removed the main RAR mirror and just left up the ZIP ones. And I've updated the announcements with a slightly disgruntled rant on this whole mess. Hopefully some people will gain some insight from it. But who knows. I may end up having to hire some overseas tech support company.

No I totally agree, it DOES make the game darker, I noticed it almost immediately in my house one I installed the pack (before I ever installed AO). But textures are so good, and with addition of Ambient Occlusion mod (yeah I got them to work together... but I can't remember how), the game looks amazing. Also I'm fond of the more scarier lighting now. Makes my house very moody and emotional.
I love your texture-pack, it really shows how beautiful it is. The only thing I dislike is the redstone wire, it doesn't look natural. But the rest, well done. Have a notch.
Doesnt work for me..I followed directions and everything to a T. After i log in the screen just stays black. Anyone know what my dumb ass did wrong? PM me.
Can I try to interest you in making additional creature textures?
There's an excellent Mo' Creatures mod brewing here. Now, I know that adding some arbitrary textures for other mods that can just die at any moment for a billion of reasons is a... well, quite an endeavor. But for new items and blocks -- there're shitloads of various textures of different resolution, so a persistent mod user can usually find some good HD sample and adjust/recolor/resize it if he wants a HD version of a custom block so badly. But mobs' textures are highly specialized, so no amount of image editing will allow you to seamlessly put a spider texture, for example, on a lion.
They can be just resized from their 16x16 versions, I know, but pixelated creatures in a HD environment looks just sad.

Ah, I always thought that gamma sort of whited things out. Like it damaged the textures and everything as well...
and huzzah! I shall try the brightness/contrast. thanks for the help!
I would like to respectfully suggest (or echo the suggestion, if others have brought this up!) making future versions (if any, and hopefully there are!) of this texture pack a .zip file. Mcpatcher can directly incorporate the file if it's a .zip, but not if it's a .rar, which means the user has to either install "manually" or convert it to a .zip themselves. Pretty trivial in the end but it's likely to trip up people who don't quite get how it works.

Any chance you will be increasing the resolution even more to say... 128 or even 256!? :biggrin.gif:
