I hate the forum's front page more for making such a big deal out of snapshots so that every average person expects the snapshot to be the standard version everyone should be running. It'd be nice if they weren't announced and y'know just out there for mod developers to test and use to adapt their mods. This way we can update quickly when the official version is released to the game's patcher.
It's a lot easier for Mojang to create new content from scratch each week than it is for mods to update for the new content each week.
I think the community just makes too big of a deal and expects too much out of these experimental builds. They're made for testing purposes. If you want to actually play the game with the new features and have all your mods working, you should just wait for the official releases like everyone else who doesn't regularly follow the forums/game development.
Anyway, if you've grabbed the redstone lamp files I posted recently (Scroll back to my last post if you haven't), there's no NEED for an update. There's a new mob. That's it. The pack won't stop working just because it's not yet skinned.
i'd have to agree with that misa. unfortunately, the majority wants everything yesterday. they have no understanding of the time, energy or technical skill required to produce such things and have them work properly and look good.
i wouldn't be upset if you decided to only support major patches and skip the snapshot updates completely from here on out. for the work that you and the MCPatcher crew put in to augment what's doable in the graphics department, you're all overdue for a vacation. at least until 1.2 drops. :biggrin.gif:
for those clamoring for a 64x iron golem skin: here ya go
just save to somewhere easy to find, open your 64x pack of choice with an archive program like winrar, drag and drop the file into the mob folder. :tongue.gif:
Screenies:
***not lampooning your work misa, just having some fun with the impatient ones and learning some things about creating and altering texture packs.
I don't usually post stuff, but I found out about the Ipixelis mod and am currently enjoying the differences in random mobs skins and gender changes. If you have the time, could you please contact Ipixeli and see if she would let you make a female zombie skin? Thanks for your texture pack, I really appreciate all the hard work you've put in.
I'm working on a program that will resize(read downsize) texture packs. There's may be some detail loss with some packs, but it will give people more options when it comes to picking texture packs. Misa's been my adviser/tester, which I'm thankful for :biggrin.gif:
I don't wanna clutter Misa's thread, so I'm gonna leave it with this.. I'm shooting for the first weekend in March to have it finished, but nothing is set in stone.
I did this for Xie's campfire mod to go along with this texture pack. Looks fine for me (except I feel it's sloppy), but what'cha guys think? :tongue.gif:

Thank you for your reply.
Pretty interesting, let us know when it's out.
Misa, the AdF.ly download link is broken (and so is everyone else's). It would seem that Mediafire has perhaps blocked websites from redirecting to download links? I hope not!
Looks like they might have. I seem to have found a way around it though. It should be working fine now.
Oh and in case anyone was wondering my iron golems aren't going to stick TOO closely to the vanilla design because I'm personally not a big fan of the retarded nose and don't think golems should look like this:
lol, awesome popeye reference. hits it right on the nose. (pun intended)
i was hoping you wouldn't stick close to the stock design. it seems rather pink to be made out of iron. kind looks more like a large, mostly nekkid dude wearing bandages and handing out roses to kids.
creepy...
btw, misa, you'd be one to answer this: what's the green blob between the head and the torso in the skin image, i can't seem to find it on the model ingame.
The green blob serves no purpose as far as I can tell. Neither does the big white blob near the bottom middle area of the skin. The skin is actually pretty sloppy. There's a bunch of extra pixels all over the place. I found some on the chest, waist, and arms that aren't at all used in the game.
My golem skin's already done for the most part. I snuck a hidden screenshot of them in a post or two before this one. I'll probably do something with overgrowth/vines similar to the way vanilla has for Randomobs--possibly with varying degrees of rust as well. Though as far as Randomobs alts go, right now humanoid villagers are the absolute highest priority.

Curse PremiumThe constant updates is one reason I hesitate to release this program.

"Misa" (Jar Jar Binks :tongue.gif: ),
Like Jens said, next week will be bug fixing and probably MC 1.2 release, so be prepared.
Like I've said before, I'm not rushing you, just take your time.
What program?
