EDIT: you can just run the patcher and then paste the zip in the texture packs folder. Sorry for my foolishness
great pack
I strongly recommend against installing the pack this way. Several components of my pack may not show up through this method, giving you only a partial taste of the full thing.

Hi I got it to work it is awesome but could u release a second one that makes redstonedust look like pipes plz it would look really good in my building
I'll see about including the resources for this in the next patch's terrain.png.

I love this pack 99% But the only thing that bugs me is the diamond ore. Its not very visible and its all in one clump. It needs to be in pieces like but realistic. Thanks for the pack
This is a realistic pack. It'd make little sense to implement these changes for several reasons:
-Rough diamond ore doesn't stand out naturally.
-Diamonds are incredibly rare and not often found in large clusters due to the way that they're formed.
-You only receive a single diamond from mining it. (okay the fact that it's cut is a bit of a stretch, but still!)
Now if you received multiple diamonds for breaking the ore, then I'd make it look like less than a single chunk. Personally I kinda like the fact that it's slightly harder to spot (Though not by much), it makes finding some much more exciting to me.

1) Biome shades work, but occasionally there are vast stretches where the grass look almost completely devoid of color and it feels as though I'm walking through black and white Pleasantville
2) The brick could probably have a richer shade of red. Looks a bit too faded
3) The gravel texture seems to lack definition and looks largely indistinguishable. Maybe a darker texture that incorporates pebbles/small rocks etc would look better.
4) For some reason I keep getting bright pixels on the edges of tiled water, as if its clipping somehow. Not sure what the cause is. Also, the moving water seems to animate far too quickly such that it appears like a blur.
1) This has been addressed. Grab the Greener, simpler vegetation pack for older generated maps.
2) They have to match the color of the clay, but I suppose the firing process likely would darken some of the bricks in reality. I'll see about how I can improve this next patch either as an added resource to terrain.png or a global tweak.
3) This has been addressed. Currently it's at a balance between several ideal textures for it. Initially it was more a median between sand and dirt to be unique and stand out further from stone. However the most vocal criticism wanted something closer to vanilla, so granularity was added and saturation was dropped but not to the point of making it clash.
4) This appears to be an issue with the latest MCPatcher and some video cards with custom animated water. Not much I can really do about it aside from suggesting that you play around with your card's 3D settings a bit to see if that helps anything. Or until it's fixed by the patcher you could pretend it's not a bug but a feature that makes water sparkle at a distance.

All that's left, in my opinion, is the running water. It's running even faster then the 1.03 version and looks "cheesy".
I (or anyone else) can correct the animation speed by doubling the frame count. Personally it doesn't bug me. But I'll see what I can do by remaking it next patch to blend better with the current still water.
Regarding the issues people have been having with the download link, I changed the main download back to a rar format and re-uploaded to mediafire. Only reason I did zip this last time was for Mac users. But an unintentional side-effect of this (aside from the mysterious issue with the download not working) is that people may think you can just put it in the 'texturepacks' folder. I don't want to give out this impression. The installation instructions ensure all components of the pack are used properly.
I've also linked mirrors of my pack directly below the main link. I probably should've at least included the minecraftwb.com mirror right off the bat since that's the other main site I host this pack on. (You can vote on it there if you like too. :P)
My next update MAY come in a little slowly due to the US holidays and the fact that I think my rapid fire of 2.5 updates within the past week should be enough to make up for it.
Of course if Notch adds like some new blocks for an early holiday update or something (highly doubtful) I'll release support for that as soon as possible. As it is though, most of the stuff planned for next patch just seems to be things like minor fixes and alternate resources. Nothing really game-breaking that needs to be fixed as quickly as possible. So just be a little patient and have a great week.
Great pack, it strikes an optimal balance between fanciness and advanced engine features, like animation & transparency. And I really like the style.
One noticeable moment, though: currently, all the "mossy cobblestone" variants use some sort of a green splotch over base texture. Problem is, the overlay is not cycled, and there are some very noticeable and nasty pattern effects if you try to build something with mossy stones. How about making one variant (the "bricky" one) a fully cycled texture? That allow for the choice between default "spotty" variants (looks good in generated dungeons, but not so in as a building material) and a cycled one, which will allow pattern-less buildings.
awesome and I loved the new look of things but my laptop was lagging too much while using it, sadly I had to revert back to standard :sad.gif: Will use one I get a new desktop though.

Hi Misa. I wanted to comment to say that I love the texture pack. I've been using it for about a week now and can say that this is easily my favorite pack that goes for the realism look. Keep up the great work!
I have two questions though I hope you can answer please.
1. Is there a possibility of your pack ever working with the new texture folder that Notch created? It'd be nice to hot swap between packs instead of having to leave that folder empty when using yours. If you addressed this earlier, I apologize. Currently I just have a backup Minecraft.jar file I swap back and forth for other worlds I play and that's not a huge deal.
2. None of the versions since I've been using this pack (1.4, 1.45 or 1.5) have had a working watch. I'm following all the installation instructions... deleting the version file, letting the game re-download the necessary files, using the latest HD patcher, and installing your pack. With each of the versions I indicated using, my watch is basically 2 small lines of pixels on the top of the box, everything else is blank. Any clues to my problem? Is there a step I may have missed?
I do use a few mods with your pack so it's possible there may be in incompatibility... but I was wondering of what I described has an easy fix. Mods I currently use are: 303 Mod loader, Controller Bloc, Recall, Tool Repair, 303 Arrows, 303 Grappling Hook and More Stackables.

Like this? The main reason I tried to avoid edge tiling of the mossy overlay was so it'd blend seamlessly into natural stone as it's most commonly found blended with in dungeons as you pointed out, yeah. Hopefully this simple tweak addresses its use as a green-hued building material.

1. Nothing I can do about it. My pack edits more art files than are called upon by the texturepacks folder. You can use it in the texturepacks folder if it's in zip form, but many of the bits of art I've edited won't show up. Either Notch or xau are the only ones who can address this as I'm not a programmer.
2.
That is the only big change for HD texture packs that's recently fixed compasses and watches. 1.1.9 is the version that did it. If it's still not working it's probably a conflicting mod with MCPatcher.
No 1.2.2 mods work with 1.2.3(_01) update. I repeat, not a single one. You'll have to wait until xau updates his MCPatcher. Or just stay at 1.2.2 and don't update.
To everyone having trouble installing the pack as of today only, it's probably due to Minecraft being updated. I have added "do not's" to my instructions to avoid a lot of common problems people are having by doing more than is listed in the instructions. Until the HD fix is updated though my texture pack will not work for anyone no matter what.
There is nothing I can do to art files to magically make them work if the MCPatcher doesn't support them for this version of Minecraft. I'm sure xau's on it, so don't bug him about it (I'm sure he knows already), just be patient and supportive of his work.
UPDATE: Currently there is a quick fix provided by xau. Simply uncheck Custom Water and Custom Lava.
This is the only video site I can get to at work that the proxy overlords haven't blocked access to yet.
It's so frustrating to see some awesome mod or skin, have someone go "hey, check out this awesome video of it in action!", and then find it's on YouTube....arrghh
I didn't know anyone even knew of this site...outside of Japan that is.

You should read Xau's thread on his HD patcher here.
There's nothing wrong with the textures Misa made, the HD patcher is temporarily broken due to the update Notch put out today. Repatch but don't use the custom water or lava options.
Or you could always just switch back to your v1.2.2 Minecraft jar. You did keep a backup, right? :smile.gif:

When using the latest texture pack, and the HD fixer version 1.9.1 the HD patcher sticks on
Reading: misc/dial.png...
It has no problem running your earlier versions and patching up the minecraft.jar though.
Would this be an issue with the HD patcher or with the latest 1.5 texture pack? I ask because your earlier texture packs install fine but this one sticks on the dial.png file it would seem.

Read the "do not's" on my installation instructions. My texture pack shouldn't be patched into the game through MCPatcher since I've edited more graphics than are typical for most texture packs. It must be added into the jar manually to get the full effects.
Ok, sorry about that. I've been using mcpatcher for so long now with your textures that I didn't think to re-read the instructions. I'll go do that now.
I like the variation in weapon and tool sets now, and the coal is much more identifiable.
Your change log mentions something about the "still surface water" animation being fixed some, but still surface water doesn't animate for me at all (flowing does). Is it only available in the non-HD version? Overall the water is the only thing that needs some work. It comes off as pastel and artificial, I can't put my finger on it, but I think I might stick to default water for now.
Also I miss the wrought-iron "glass" texture you had in a previous pack. No center texture makes glass look very weird when used in a floor.

I've been a registered American user since 2001, and believe it or not, I don't even like anime! I guess that's how most people outside of Japan find out about it (through anime communities). Mostly my grasp of the language arose from playing lots of old imported games in my youth. And yeah, I have seen some of J-Mon's Minecraft videos. They're pretty funny.

Quick update Misa,
In order for this to work with the latest update, users need to NOT check "use custom water" or "use custom lava"
If they follow your steps and leave out those two options, it should work fine.
I actually posted that about 8 posts ago on this page in large text. I suppose I should add it to the front page as few seem to read the latest posts... I just don't want to have to alter my main instructions back and forth since they'll still be applicable as soon as xau updates MCPatcher.

The custom animated water and lava requires the HD texture fix patcher to be updated to work with the latest version. (They all worked fine with 1.2.2) It also requires that custom and animated water and lava be checked in the patcher. Currently you can't do this without getting errors with the latest update to Minecraft. So you're stuck with still textures for liquids or the default low-res liquids until xau updates the patcher to support custom animated liquids again.
The wrought iron grid texture for glass is still available within terrain.png. You simply need to copy and paste it over the default glass in any graphics editor that supports alpha transparency. I believe there's an application somewhere around the forums that allows you to swap textures from multiple texture packs. It should allow you to accomplish this without a graphic editor. I don't recall the name of it since I personally don't have a use it for it(for obvious reasons). Perhaps people reading this could point it out to you for me.
