Awesome update. I really like the new lighting. I for one think you should keep it as is. No need to tone it down. I oversaturate a lot of the textures anyways so it works really well. but that's just my own personal preference.
The new colors are really cool. Sometimes a little bit red, but ok.
But if you use Rei's Minimap, the colors on the minimap are not working... looks very strange now ^^
Windows only? :sad.gif: ... crap i really wanted this one to... unless i am just not seeing it properly
The pack will work on all major operating systems, and I provide instructions for installation on Windows and Mac. Ensure you're using MCPatcher 2.3.0 or higher, if you're not on Windows, just be sure to grab the jar version of MCPatcher for Mac and Linux.
this is 1 of the best texture packs but i have a question of the new december 15 update. suddenly the oceans and stuff is gray for me and i was wondering if that is normal. im using optifine so idk if thats the problem.

yeah i know but i dont like the patcher very much. it screws up most of my mods and without optifinei would never be able to use this texture pack cuz my comp will lag like crazy so im hoping misa is making a fix for the optifine user and theres alot of optifine users out there.

Optifine is compatible with MCPatcher, you just have to deselect the HD stuff and Better Grass from the patcher.

I've repeatedly stated that I don't care for Optifine at all. I think its mipmapping is lousy, and the practice of essentially copying MCPatcher's basic functionality and having the nerve to force adf.ly links for all their downloads is despicable. But that said, you can still install MCPatcher and Optifine and just about any other mod so long as you install stuff in the proper order.
I'm not sure what you were expecting out of me in terms of making a fix for optifine anyway. I'm not a coder, I'm an artist. I simply make art files to visually support elements that others have made. This pack is a mod that relies on features provided by MCPatcher, if you don't like using MCPatcher, you're probably better off looking for a different texture pack. Optifine simply does not give me the degree creative control over the design of my texture pack in the neat package that MCPatcher does.

I'm not a fan of the new lighting, my place looks like a carnival with all the different colors...
Delete the lighting files in the environment folder. As I've mentioned repeatedly, the lighting is still a work in progress and can be easily disabled for the time being.

hopefully misa will take out the water thing for optifine users

To be fair, OptiFine does a lot more than mipmapping (which I agree sucks pretty bad). I don't see how your hate of OptiFine is justified, modulo the adfly links -- admittedly, a minor problem.
For everyone else, you can install OptiFine *via* MCPatcher. Simply deselect HD Texture, HD Font and BetterGrass support (leave everything else checked). Then go to the Mods menu and select Add. Find the zip file for OptiFine and then use MCPatcher like normal. I've done this and it works great, no conflicts. MCPatcher also seems to save this preference, so you can repatch without having to go through the Mods -> Add action (unless you are switching OptiFine versions).
EDIT: I see that someone else already posted these instructions. Hopefully, written in a different way here, they will be useful to someone anyway.

How about the fact that the mod's thread's to-do list appears to aim to steal every innovative feature produced by other modders that have been incorporated into MCPatcher for what could be viewed as a way of making a quick buck off of everyone? "- HD animated blocks and items, random mobs, font spacing." That seems to be a bit too specific to be a coincidental idea the author just came up with on their own out of nowhere. Or the fact that in the combatibility section, in bold red text they make it no secret that this mod allegedly makes the basic functions of MCPatcher obsolete—even though the font support is clearly lacking.
These are typically not the practices of someone who is making mods to improve the game for the sake of a modding community. It seems more to be a device that's being used to advance a business strategy by creating competition to eliminate, stealing the ideas of others and forcing ad links on them for a profit. I've no respect for those kind of practices in a community of fans that is modifying and attempting to improve a commercial game. No other modding community I've been in since 1994 has been this opportunistic.
Also the only reason I mentioned Mip-mapping was because that's about the only extra feature I'd have any use for. The rest doesn't really improve anything for me that I can't handle on my own. I understand many people require it for performance reasons. It's their choice to use it if they want and that's really none of my concern. However, I feel my position is more than justified whether or not you agree with it yourself.

You see it as a conspiracy to put other modders out of business, when in reality it's that OptiFine and MCPatcher target the same kind of stuff (graphics, performance) and have from the beginning, and either they work together to be compatible with each other, at the cost of flexibility in the mods, or they reproduce each other's behavior so that it can be fully integrated into each respective mod -- the latter is clearly the technically superior solution. There's no reason why there has to be one and only one mod for any given set of features. The beauty of the free market of ideas and products is that multiple parties can enter the game and the best ones will win.

Aside from the ad-links, which I really find to be a trifling issue, I don't think you have a real point here. You're mad that different groups are producing competing mods? I can't even begin to fathom why this is a problem.

I do know this about this mod community, every time a new feature comes out in the next few days there will be no shortage of copy cats. 2 days after MCPatcher came out with the ability to color biomes I came across a similar mod. Perhaps a coincidence, but I have seen it with other mods as well.
Besides I think optifine is a bit over rated. I get pretty much the same fps with or without and IMO optifine does nothing to improve the graphics of the game. I tried it for a good month and went back to mcpatcher and was actually amazed to see that everything looked better. On my laptop that can barely run MC, optifine improved my fps a grand total of 3, from 17 to 20.
Jeb really needs to fast track the mod api so everyone has a set standard to go by. And also IMO they should basically just build in support for all the things that both optifine and mcpatcher add to the game.

Let me spell it out then, since you apparently can't fathom it. Person A creates a feature. Person B copies it (and I am not talking re-implementing it, I am talking lifts the code) and puts it into his mod. This happens enough and Person A might conceivably lose interest in creating new features, and who is person B going to lift them from then?
Why would this happen, you wonder? Look at all the people begging for optifine support in here. Among them are more than a few who are using it instead of HD Patcher because, hey, optifine does everything it does! Well, it doesn't do the animations yet, but soon, just as soon as they can get it decompiled. Kahr may be altruistic enough to not care, but it would bother me if some other mod lifted features and used them to pull users away from my mod. It would annoy me even more if they had a white knight contingent acting all amazed that I didn't like it.

to me i think both mods does both a good job supporting HD textures but truthfully optifine does alot more. it doubles frp rates and removes lags spikes for comps that cant handle good graphics (like mine) but mc patcher has the custom color features. both mods r good but some of the features that opifine has, mc patcher doesnt and some features that mc patcher has, optifine doesnt. both mods do a god job at HD support but if you look at how optifine helps comps that cant support good graphics, then its really helpful and truthfully mc patcher cant say that. as i said before i ever used optfine my comp lagged alot with this texture pack but after it it does fine.

Take that up on the MCPatcher thread. I'm simply an artist, my pack itself contains no code that will conflict with mods or anything.
