^^ don't think anyone was expecting 1.9 this soon, heck I had it pegged for mid-October, at the earliest. Oh Misa, already hard at work on an update? You should take some of the speed Notch is taking. ;D
Okay, it's decided. I officially want to smack Notch.
Biome palettes, hard-coded colors, what the hell is going on with this stuff anymore? At this point I see no way for me to keep up with this mess. So biome palettes are going to use the default art. My grass tile will be lightened to compensate, and everyone can go gripe at Notch for ruining the overall atmospheric color scheme of my texture pack.

I share your frustration, Misa, and was thinking along the very same lines...not the smacking part though! :tongue.gif:.
I'm not as fast as you, but all these changes (and so many not for the better) have got me wondering how many steps backwards Notch is prepared to make.
As Dante says, the biome palettes are just completely jiggered and it's ruined what I'd grown to love about Minecraft. I went back to the default triangles too. :sad.gif:
I'm sure you of all people will sort something though.
Ok, Java 7 jdk didn't fix my problem, but dropping the view distance to normal did. Kind of a drag since I like to get up really high so I can see the lay of the land nice & far, but hey, if that's the price for keeping Misa's pack I'll pay it. Thanks for the suggestions.
I also like the part where the suspended basin of green water drips fluorescent blue droplets from the underside that splash in muted cyan. I just love this hard-coded color stuff! Please Notch, give us more! We want our texture packs to all look as crappily-colored as the default textures! But only in completely random spots without any rhyme or reason! Oh, and please recycle the water droplet particles for lava too! Because that's efficient!
you should to change the explosion.png beause it's used for an animation when searing mooshrooms
No I shouldn't, because the explosion looks damn good everywhere else. Notch should stop recycling stuff.
Anyway I'm too frustrated by this 1.9 pre-release. I hope enough people are bitching about things elsewhere in the forums enough that some major changes are made for next release. As it is, I don't see myself being able to feasibly update the pack to my satisfaction anytime soon... I may have to limit setting my update deadlines to official releases. This surprise pre-release was a big stressful slice of hell for me.
Some of my points of contention with 1.9:
-Biome vegetation colors. Huge mess. Dunno what to do with these aside from use the defaults, and even then, they look terrible. STOP HARDCODING COLORS!
-Watercolor. Can't even be changed at all with the watercolor.png. STOP HARDCODING COLORS!!
-Water and lava dripping particles are recycled and the colors cannot be altered. STOP HARDCODING COLORS!!!
-The snow golem face I worked on goes completely to waste thanks to the retarded-pumpkin-headed monstrosities introduced at the last minute. Why couldn't the pumpkin art be drawn from an overlay on the mob skin, that way it'd be optional?
-NPC's... Why on earth are their models a cross between a conehead and a proboscis monkey? The helmet/hair layer doesn't even work on these guys either.. This greatly limits my abilities to do ANYTHING with them and have them actually turn out not looking incredibly derpy. I understand the need to have them look different than players, but damn, these are just bad...
Hopefully today was just a bad day and tomorrow I'll be able to get on top of a lot of this (I'm still just getting over the flu too.). As it is though I have no predicted ETA on the update of the pack for 1.9, sorry. :/ I will probably release what I have though when I provide the support files for Randomobs. It'll be released as a 1.8 pack with limited compatibility for 1.9. Best I can promise for now.
I'm glad ur pissed cause it might actually reach notch that some of the best texture pack creators are getting pissed over the retarded changes. I've been spamming him on twitter to cancel the hardcoded color changes also, not sure if I'm heard. The thing is that normal players wont understand this frustration TP creators are going thru because they are the users, and assume there is a fix for everything. Try to tell Jeb and Notch how u feel hopefull they can stop ****ing with everything to make it a default minecraft. You can tell they're trying, they rearranged coding in 1.8, now hardcoding colors in 1.9... pretty annoying.

For those who don't want to wait until my Randomobs update, here's an early leak of some of the updated files for 1.9. If you don't know what to do with these files, don't use them. They may or may not be subject to change by next update.
I do not want to see people taking advantage of this and using the files in here as placeholders to update their posted texture packs just so they can list them as 1.9 compatible. You can wait until I officially release to get permission for that.
Ok, if the colours stay hardcoded I guess people will have to rely on the HD patcher for changing them then, just like it used to be. That wouldn't be too bad for you though because the game has to be patched to use the pack anyway!
EDIT: I agree about the pumpkin headed 'golems' too. They should have a texture on their head instead of relying on the pumpkin texture. My pumpkin has no face carved until it's made into a jack-o-lantern so it will look even more derpy...
Brick joints on the stone bricks are way too dark, IMO. And on the brick stairs, they are rather ugly looking.
Could you please try to make a texture of them with a degree of white on the joints, rather than black?
I find it mildly humorous that the users (and the very talented Misa and other creators) know Minecraft better and more intimately than Mojang. There is way too much XBOX time over there and obviously nobody can get anything done and think straight when Gods Of War 2 is blaring through the building all day. If Notch spent HALF of his personal gaming time on Minecraft, the final release would have been well over a year ago. He got his money, now we all wait. It's the worse work ethic in the game industry I have ever seen. Playing games up a storm, sure! Writing games? Not so much...
I do feel your frustration [Misa] in that we are trying to pick up the pieces they leave for us in this fragmented "game", but we sincerely do appreciate your hard work and dedication. Your texture pack is the absolute best on this site and always has been; to the point where you should take over the complete art direction at Mojang and tap into that stack of $80 million they accepted from us over 2 years ago. I'm fully convinced that they have no serious management or direction in that facility and will continue wasting time and resources while playing every PC, Console, and pen and paper game known to man in the meanwhile. Notch can play all these games after release, not during. It's a sure recipe for disaster and don't think for a minute that Minecraft will be finalized by November, either. It took Notch 3 whole days to write the core of Minecraft; then another 2.5 years to play every game he could get his hands on...and we still wait. Yes, I am frustrated with this whole mess (as everyone else), but this just bolsters my bad decision to purchase a game before it is written - and a mistake I shall never make ever again.
By far and large, this game would be a complete write-off if it weren't for hard-working artists such as yourself to aid in fixing Notch's pet hobby project and nurse it back to health where it should have been well over a year ago. I salute you and thank you for your fine efforts and hope you continue on in the future.

Is there a specific thread where this is being discussed? And by hard-coded, you mean there isn't an artist-editable file to be found in the .jar? The color is like the stars in the sky, code-generated? This is heartbreaking! Has anyone set up a Get Satisfaction on this yet?
Many thanks to you, Misa, for your hard work and lovely aesthetic!

I understand what you are saying and somewhat agree, but I've enjoyed my time playing the game with all the updates and whatnot. Maybe if I had spent more than $10 I'd care more.
your texture pack is awesome! I love it! sadly my laptop has different ideas and likes to make minecraft lag when i use it (as your first post has warned clearly)
