WHY THE HELL DOES GOLD ORE LOOK LIKE A BOOGER SMASHED ON A WALL??????
Addressing some feedback:
This is addressed next patch.
Following the clean install instructions on the main page which I've addressed 4 times now would've fixe it, but with the latest update, installation is subject to change. Expect a more compatible version soon if Notch fixes HD texture support.
Addressed next patch. Even though I think there was enough of a hue and texture difference alteady, I forget that I'm still using CRT's, which generally have a higher color gamut and contrast ratio than modern LCD's. To accommodate though, I've darkened and browned cloth a tiny bit.
Because oxidized gold found in quartz veins is green? And quartz is the most common substrate for gold. I never really thought of it looking like a booger. Only in fantasy and fiction though does gold stick out of walls in big shiny crystalline nuggets. I might redo it though to resemble gold in black shale or something. I'll think about it.
oh nooo I use cloth for "marble" columns D: I always differentiate cloth from snow by knowing that cloth doesn't appear naturally, and snow sits on top of things. Not sure it needs color changes.
But of course, I still have the old version and can always edit it back in :wink.gif:
And since everyone has a pet block change: I'd still like to see half step blocks lighter somehow than smoothstone so they look like highlights as with the standard pack. Then again, I have no problem with red clay changing the highlights on the Enterprise someone built so yeah, not everything needs to look just like the vanilla textures.
Which is to say, really looking forward to the update being ready to go with the latest MC version! I think I miss your textures more than ambient occlusion and minimaps.
Not to worry, the change is extremely minor. The cloth should still perform as a good substitute for white marble/plaster.
Much thanks goes to Koolwitak, who first notified me of the workaround.
A little note on the alternate character skins. You will now need to drag char.png into the mob directory in Minecraft.jar.
Also The Ambient Occlusion and mini-map mod doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so I'd suggest against trying it for now until it's updated.
Now everyone go bug Notch to properly support HD texture packs!
really sad too, I really like this pack :sad.gif: the only other pack that i like as much as this one is doku and he quit :/
Please read the installation instructions (with the bold text) on the first post.
Why would you think that? The official texture replacement is 16 x 16 only.
Would you be kind enough to change that? Thanks.

It is transparent. It's not blatantly invisible with minor blemishes or anything, but it is definitely semi-transparent. I made it that way since a meter thick chunk of naturally-occurring ice would block a lot of visibility in reality, that and without refraction, too much transparency makes a mass of ice look 2D.
But yeah... Try standing beneath a block of ice and looking at the sky through it and you should see it with no problem. It's just not as easy to see a sea floor when looking through it from above. But even there, you can clearly see edges of a body of water through it.
I just now loaded up a map that had a small ice hut I built in an old snow level using buckets of water, and I can see a mountain on the other side of it just fine... If you're mixing and matching some of my textures with others, make sure your graphics editor supports the full range of alpha channels, and that you're clearing out the space where the ice goes before adding mine on top of it.
Though now that I look at it zoomed in, in GIMP, it does look to be transparent, just not much. Thanks for taking the time to reply though, laterz.

It does kill it.

When first loading up a save, it shows the full image for teh portal (like in terrain.png) and then as soon as it stops loading (after about a split second) the portal goes back into it's glitched state.
I'm not sure whether this will be of help or not, but every bit counts I guess...
