ehrm sorry but am i the only one whose bed looks like two half-size blue blocks?
i just updated minecraft and everthings fine and wokrs good, just the bed-thing doesnt work. even when i craft it, i cant even see it in my inventory, its invisible...
anyone can help?
Download the latest texture pack by misa (1.8) and the latest mcpatcher, try patching it again, it should work.
In redstone related notes, I don't get why they would **** things up this way? Unless it's for some grand scheme of things.
thanks for the help :biggrin.gif: just realized i forgot to use the latest texture pack, i downloaded it but didnt change to it :smile.gif:
See, they changed the way redstone works a bit. Now, as the redstone gets stretched out over say, 16 blocks, it will go from a nice bright red at the source to a dull red/brown, and then to a full black at the 16th block.
for everyone who was smart enough to make a backup before installing the texture pack or modloader the easy way to fix the font for now is go to the backup minecraft.jar open it with winrar or 7zip open the font folder then copy and move the default.png into the the font folder of the minecraft.jar you are currently using which will replace the font from this pack so the game will be playable with normal font and your favorite mods

As stated by numerous people on here and other threads, going from a color (be it darker red or orange, or whatever), to straight black just looks horrible, and I agree.
In addition, texture-less redstone doesn't help much to this. For example, if that black had a texture with some lighter highlights, it might look ok, but as just a black patch/blob, it doesn't look good at all. Not saying much for the lit up colors either, orange->dark-red also look pretty bad without a texture.
Time for another response post, but this time, chronologically backwards!

The brightness should be increased a little but otherwise, its amazing. Have you considered doing seasonal textures?
The extra darkness was sorta added by the smoother lighting, it's not all that dark, really. On my monitors they look great to me regardless. Though you can always put a pumpkin on your head to see better in the dark. As far as seasonal textures go though, I'd need some suggestions. I do plan at the start of spring to replace the pumpkins with watermelons though as the default up until Autumn. You'll still be able to replace the art with the pumpkins from the alternates.png file though if you have a problem with Watermelons.

I don't know if it was already asked, but can you make a new custom-water-flowing? Because it is moving so damn fast, it does not really fit to the beautiful water-still.. Or is it just not possible to force it to move more slowly?
It has already been asked, and I've responded to it already. It's the way it is for waterfalls, as there's no gradual shift in speed, and I felt waterfall animations were more important than near-horizontal flowing water. I MAY redo it later, but animations are a ***** to make, and not really my strong suit.

...can you make the font optional, defaulted to vanilla instead of the new one pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?
No. It's easier for people using Modloader (I'm not one of them. :P) to just delete the font folder from my zip, than to have everyone else download an extra file and manually install it to minecraft.jar. This is an issue with Modloader having issues with MCPatcher, if anyone needs to fix anything, it's one of the authors of these mods, not me and my pack.

Installing ModLoader by itself, works fine. but if I install this texture pack and then ModLoader, all the text in the game gets improperly spaced. I hope you can correct this problem relatively quickly.
It's Modloader's fault, take it up with them.

Thanks for making lightstone gold again. That was one of my only gripes about your texture pack. One suggestion I would like to make is to make the water darker blue, closer to the hue of the default water. This is to maintain visual compatibility with stock Minecraft, so players won't build things with your texture pack that look awful to other players. I also think the default blue looks a little better overall.
Lightstone was gold since like two versions ago. Anyway, I don't really see visual compatibility as much of an issue for water with colored cloth blocks around. And as this is a realistic pack I have to strike a balance somewhere between shallow and deep water. The bright blue of the original water is absurdly unrealistic, and to me looks terrible even in large oceans. Deep water is a dark, deep blue color with a bit of green, but gets lighter in shallow areas, so I went with a median shade of the appropriate hue. I also made it slightly more translucent. If you like the default blue though, you can just uncheck the custom and animated water in MCPatcher.

The textures all have a similar darkish tone. The thing that bothers me is the pumpkin texture. The pumpkin is far too smooth, imho, when compared with the other blocks.
Another thing I don’t like is the netherrack and the glowstone textures. It looks like you just wanted to stock-produce textures right after the halloween update (I know a colorize when I see it =P). I would love it if you could put a bit more creativity into those two textures, like you did with the rest of the pack.
The last thing that bugs me is the “speed” at which moving water “flows” when using this pack. No offense meant, but it looks like moving blue fibers, straight from Ps’s renderer.
Thanks for the review, I abridged most of it in the quote because I only really want to address the criticism (Which I always welcome!)
-Pumpkins: I'm not really sure how I can artifically make a normally smooth vegetable more grainy to blend in with the other stuff without messing it up. To me it mostly matters that it looks like it's supposed to and color-wise blends in with the level of saturation as everything else. They're gonna be replaced with Watermelons on the default for spring-summer anyway.
-Nether blocks: Your impressions are really way off. I produced most of the blocks before the Halloween update, and I actually released my pack for the first time to the public AFTER the Halloween update. So there really was no rush. (Though the first incarnation of glowstone was pretty rushed more out of frustration of what I'd like it to look like when pitted against what the game will allow.) On netherrack and the revised glowstone I used the same separation pattern though because it blends well with cobblestone, but the underlying textures themselves are completely different. They're by no means simple palette shifts. Either way I have provided alternates. I'm particularly fond of the intestinal-looking texture for Netherrack. Though I like the more vanilla-esque Glowstone as it is. And it looks even greater with the (currently unreleased) shader maps. My other experiments with tiling crystalline structures didn't really satisfy me in the cube medium. Provide a suggestion for how you think they could be improved and I may work on some alternates for it.

how do you get it that the whole block is full of grass and not just the top?
Better Grass from MrMMods (Whenever it gets updated). Currently it doesn't work.
As I mentioned earlier, I plan to release a mini-update to the pack that normalizes the look of redstone torches and repeaters to match the shitty, new redstone wires (Which I've also tweaked)... I'll also be including a new splash screen and some more alternate textures to mess with. This'll probably be released tomorrow if nothing keeps me busy.
I use your texture pack when playing, and I appreciate the hard work you've put into it. I did make one change, though... I wasn't so fond of the obsidian texture. I know what you're trying to do with it, but it doesn't really look that great when used for building structures (especially considering the difficulty in obtaining it, you would normally consider this a luxury construction material). The hint of a purple cast doesn't feel right, and it's really hard to get a sense of where the individual faces of the block are (since it doesn't show shadows very well).
Here's my edit. It's definitely less natural as found or made underground, but I think it looks better for building.

As a Moderator for the tiny chat, I have helped dozens of people get the pack working. Some of these people you know from Lets Plays. Having Worked with misa for a while now I know how her pack works, and what files it edits. When you then asked misa, she responded with
"[15] misa: Yeah, my texture pack contains no code.

Thereby showing that any problems that you were having specifically with the bed could not be coming from the texture pack, otherwise ALL images in the pack wouldn't work.
We started the conversation simply with basic troubleshooting and offered many reasons the problem could be. And all you could say was that

Here's my edit. It's definitely less natural as found or made underground, but I think it looks better for building.
First post. Big section that says Download.
No need for that kind of thing...
Nullum beneficium inpune stat.
Actually you said you had a bachelors in programming.. Too bad that doesn't exist. Second you swore it was the code that was breaking it and we asked you what language. You couldn't answer the question. Also we have a copy of the conversation to show how much of a troll you really are. Multiple questions about your knowledge were outright ignored by you. Show us the "Coding" that you claim is in Misa's pack that messed it up? She doesn't code for one thing so I don't know where you got that notion. And when you can tell us anything about "Coding" Then you have a right to make all the accusations you want so long as its backed up by proof.
When you go into the chat and just start spouting BS and don't listen to anything we have to say then yes your going to get an eye full of text questioning your knowledge and proof. You said you fixed it.... LOL show us how. I bet you can't even do that. Well you fixed it GG now go play and be happy. We have been more then helpful to everyone who comes into the chat with a good attitude. Your off the launchpad was out of wack :-P Good day.

[15] misa: It's simply art files that are used by the game using MCPatcher."
Thereby showing that any problems that you were having specifically with the bed could not be coming from the texture pack, otherwise ALL images in the pack wouldn't work.
We started the conversation simply with basic troubleshooting and offered many reasons the problem could be. And all you could say was that
"[14] rd_lone_killer: [... ]im a programmer i know what im talkin about"
We are here to help, its what we do. We cannot help those that will not listen to what we have to say.
amantis: tell misa I love her and will she marry be and provide offspring ty
Delete the font folder in her zip file. It will set the fonts back to default.
