Well I've adjusted the lighting and a few other things over the past few days. I think but I'm not sure that it's made colours stand out ever so slightly more during the day and make them appears less washed out.
You could probably just open up the terrain.png in the zip and up the saturation and maybe darken it a bit if you want it to be more colourful.
Changelog
- I've been trying to texture wood all day.. I hate wood. (so yeah new wood)
- Logs have a slight gradient on the edges. Tons of other texture packs do this but I've put it off because I feel that it compromises the ability of logs to be used in certain contrustions and still look good. I've tried to come up with a compromise to give logs just enough roundness so using them as beams looks good and using them for walls dosn't look to patterned with the gradients.
I don't normally post on the forums but I felt that I needed to share that this pack is absolutely incredible. It has been my favorite texture pack for the past year now and is really something unique. The only thing I miss from the older versions is the planked wood. Is it possible that you could post them so I could edit them in? That would be fantastic ^-^
tbh I liked the plank wood the most as a texture, but it really anoys me how textures on stairs work they end up just looking wrong.
I'll see if I can find my old plank texture lying around somwhere.
EDIT: I'm working on planks again today..
I also have these for you, I'll add more to this post with more from this year.
Done and done, also I felt my first post screenshots were to old too reflect how much texture pack looks properly so I removed them.
I'd be very happy if you guys could help me out with some amazing screenies!
The new wood is nice, although I must admit that the old wood is still my favorite. Do you have a customizable page where users can choose which textures they want?
Nice little house! I'll add it to a montage of images eventually.
Also..
I've been messing around with fog and sky colours, I think I've found a decent starting point for further tweaking in the future.
I've uploaded the changes so you guys can all add a bit more variety to your travels!
Hey Aza, I was wondering, what program do you use to make your textures?
GIMP
Sometimes it goes well, sometimes I just can't get the effect I want =/
And I've been using GIMP for maybe 4-5 years on and off.
It's harder to learn then something like photoshop but it's just as powerful.
Don't listen to people who say photoshop is better, they both have their strengths and weaknesses.
I've recently started using both making textures for UNI work.
Products like Windows, Photoshop, etc.. are only popular through mass marketing and awareness.
People just don't know there are free alternative that do just as good a job as most paid for product.
Then you also have the stigma spread by people who have only ever used the paid for product.
Not all people are out to make money, I think open source programmers are often better then paid ones. They do it because the enjoy it rather than the pay.
Oh and GIMP finally has a single window interface you can turn on in windows. So yeah...
P.S. I just woke up and haven't had my coffee, can you tell?
P.P.S I could point fingers at the reason for this trend.. But heavy capitalism seems to be ruining a lot of software and games these days.
A lot of the great indie stuff and programmers come from europe, they tend to work to live where as OTHER places tend to live to work.
P.P.P.S these are all just my observations of late.
I like the idea of shaders, particularly bump mapping. but the problem is it's not always up to date or easy to get working in minecraft.
It's also another requirement people would need to install to use part of a texture pack.
So I've been tinkering and seeing if I can get pre-baked bump mapping on my textures.
I think I've improved my techniques in the past few hours of how to go about this, as you can see in the wood textures.
I am thinking of going through all the terrain.png and working on improving the existing textures not remaking them like I often do.
Adding some depth and detail to existing textures with baked bump mapping.
In other news, a creeper used his path-finding skills and crept all the way up from the depths of my mines into my home and exploded. =(

I've uploaded the changes so you guys can all add a bit more variety to your travels!
Here's a few examples:
Item.png
- Dyes
- Music Discs
- Beds
- Wheat
- Bowls
- Mushroom Stew
Other Changes
- Fog Colours
- Sky Colours
- Desert Leaf Colour
- Minor Tweaks here and there.
Hey it only took me 2 years to do another few items! High Five!
Fred is watching you.
What do you think guys?
Should I implement this and more CTM textures?

*raises hand emphatically*
P.S. Forgot to texture new chests. >.>
I'll get around to it.
I also redid mineral blocks.

- Door, Trapdoor
- Confidence

I've learned a few methods in the past few days that should help me create better textures in the future.
