LOVE this texture. However lightstone is red? That seems off... Lava also looks slightly wierd. almost like cheese. Other than that, this texture is amazing.

Hey everyone a big change is here! But those who prefer the original can still change it back!
From now on I will only be updating the Azasaridtexture.zip (or similar) and not the terrain.png link so do not use any of the old links to the terrain.png
I've added a new soil type
sort of volcanic clay soil, a common occurrence in Australia.
So, I've got mcpatcher, i'm patching the terain.png as a zip file into it, but nothing is changing. help? this is the log from the lipboard, if it helps.
Scratch that. After installing, doing everything the right ay, I boot up Minecraft and after pressing the login button, I just get a black screen.
Ok I'm updating my main post the guy that made the patcher hasnt fixed it totally yet!
You need to uncheck custom water and custom lava for it to work.

Wow, I've been avoiding super HD texture packs, but this is lovely 8E
I will most certainly download this when I get home and edit this post for better feedback then. I can say right now, though, that it was the dirt that got me, and that's unusual.

EDIT: Changed it to have a less noticeable pattern in if tiled.
Tommorow I'm going to try making a redgum version. As well as different planks.

I am unable to install this texture pack...I have the most up to date patcher, downloaded your pack and I get the following error:
The compression used in this zip is not supported. Please install the texture pack manually, or re-package it as a .jar or .rar file.
I even tried to extract the terrain.png and it says corrupt file... :wtc:
Posting to confirm what draconius said - Your 02dec10 zip update appears to be corrupt - looks as though you'll need to re-upload. Thanks for the great pack!

Also here is the new redgum which is now default. Now obviously a lot of you are going to be saying "WTF IS THAT ****!" and for you the old textures are still available in the terrain.png
For the rest of you who know what a redgum is I have made new trunk sides, tops and bottoms, And also a variant of the planks with a darker reddish brown.
EDIT: It's starting to be more like Aza's Aussie texture pack rather than Aza's Arid =P
EDIT: This is sort of experimental so I may be adjusting ti fairly soon. I have to test more ingame and try and get the contrast between other building materials right.

Now the planks add another complimentary hue to the building side of the game.
I downloaded it myself and it worked so if it doesn't work for you try to save in a different location to the last.
I had to look into this myself as I was expecting trees with dark red trunks
Apparently it's an Eucalyptus tree. Quite a diverse country you have there, Aza.

Ok thanks! Also I had to ditch the redgum Idea cause its contrasted badly with my lighter textures.
In other new today I've maid some drastic changes so everyone should make a backup of my texture pack before downloading the new one if the want to keep the old colours.
I have followed your instructions to the letter(I hope) several times but all I get is a black screen when I run minecraft. What am I doing wrong?
try deleting the backups patchers make, and delete your minecraft.jar
start minecraft to redownload the jar then try it again
but this time uncheck custom water and lava in the patcher.

Its just a quick edit, I increased saturation and decreased lightness, but it seems to work pretty well.
