This is absolutely gorgeous! I may yet be won over to higher-res texture packs. Keep up the epic work! :biggrin.gif:

Notch could replace Minecraft.net with goatse tomorrow and never publish an update again; the only legal recourse I have is to shake my fist at the screen.
It has an old Austro-Hungarian port made of stone blocks reminiscent of your cobble ... so I always liked it. But now ... I wish I could use all 3 (same goes for the smooth stone). I think I will just replace wool block with your new cobble and keep them both.

Thanks a lot! Hopefully its lives up to your expectations!

This is the town where I grew up:

Beautiful place to grow up, My dad grew up in a similar looking area.
Sadly not many places like that around here.
I've added more traditional brickwork now as an optional, Its sort of a dark muddy red.
EDIT: Ok peoples I have a task for you! I want structured criticism, everyone find one thing they don't like most about this texture pack and tell me all about it!
I look forward to your critic!
You asked...I'll answer, probably more than you wanted to hear. Understand I'm not 100 percent sure what you've already edited so I may be commenting on other peoples work in areas.
What I really like:
The over all "soft" feel to your pack...easy on the eyes.
Dirt/grass = very nice...tiles well...don't ever change it. (except maybe to add the support for better grass.....maybe)
Trees = Latest trees (trunks)are fantastic.
Water = Your clear water effect is the best...it animates great and I love being able to see through it.
Windows = unique design...somehow it works perfectly and looks great for small windows or huge glass works.
Half BLocks = nice bleached white feel...great for complimenting and decorating your place.
Grey Bricks = Excellent job, other new options are ok too but I'm stuck on the grey.
Cobblestone = the white bricks work well...like them alot! (will have to try the new zig zags)
Wood = great sun bleached wood effect...
More importantly...I really like the fact your texture pack blends together well...don't lose that.
What I like ok:
Iron/Gold blocks = nice unique window effect blocks, tile nicely
Leaves = I actually really like the leaves, they just show the full tree trunks through them and that looks a little odd at the tops of trees. If you can get the biome colors working on them (to match your theme) that would be quite epic.
Wood/Iron doors = I like these alot as well but they seem slightly unfinished...I agree some more Iron as opposed to stone look on the Iron Door might be good. But what you have is great...just saying gives a "Sparse feel" maybe some type of door handle or something.
Furnace = looks nice, blends in well
Workbench = doesn't come across as a workbench, but looks decent and blends well.
Gold/Iron/Red Dust/Coal blocks = kinda scratchy/splotchy but I do ok with em.
Chests = I think I actually really like these, just need to get used to them. Was just getting used to the bamboo ones.
Gravel = solid
Sand = Sandy goodness
What I would like to see altered:
Diamond Ore = Circles come across as odd to me for diamonds...would suggest jaggeding up the edges a bit or playing with how the ore appears in the stone. Graphic is good, circles is bad to me.
Bookshelves = decent but no wood border on the outsides of them kinda makes them look outta place. Need to frame those books.
Obsidian = Great texture, get dizzy looking at several blocks together for some reason. Problem is not sure what I would suggest to fix it...maybe I'll get used to them after a bit.
New Pumpkin Texture: Not sure what to think, I like the mossy tree approach but not sure about the yellowy brick X side...maybe since it lights up the place take a torch/lantern type approach.
If I could only have 1 critique it would be to finish the pack with items/gui/sun/moon/armor/animals etc. Would love to see an art/painting pack to fit your theme as well.
Your pack blends so well with what you have, alot of other textures feel awkward in the game...while it's your pack, and obviously you do what you want...but you may tire yourself out creating several textures for one block/item before finishing the rest.
I would suggest getting your foundation of one core pack then add the alternatives...but hey, just a suggestion.
All in all, great job, great pack...will keep checking in as what you've done so far is outstanding.

Thanks a lot for all that! It's pretty much what I expected for most of it!
All things you had problems with I'm planning to change eventually!
Only thing is bookshelf isn't mine =P
But thanks for the review on all the other textures its good to know what specific texture people like and don't like.
And it keeps me away from the ones people like so I don't try and fix something that's already good.
Oh, wanted to add that I'd like to see the old bamboo textures replacing the reed when you get there.
Also, no idea how the poll will turn out but I hope you decide to keep using lighter colors and unique, detailed textures.
One question. What's behind changing the log's rings and overall texture? Haven't tried it ingame yet, it well may be better... it's just... never thought you had personal problems with the old one :smile.gif:
Some people build with it so I made it have a lower contrast so it tiles better, also removed the wood impurity.
Lots of people are voting slightly to light! =/
And changed my vote. Guess people don't like that you're not following the default MC textures... but that's the whole point! Don't think you should make darker textures, there are more than enough generic packs out there.
lol 1 vote to slightly too dark!
I want what they're having!
Main reason I started poll was to see if the colours seemed right to people looking at my texture pack. Curiosity, I'm not really going to change much though.
Hi Aza,
Well i voted slightly too light not because i dont love the textures, they are the best i've ever seen, love the attention to the detail and all, and they look really well together.
There were 2 main reasons i did.
1) They look awesome but sometimes it was hard to tell them appart in game, and in inventory, but since then you've addressed some of those issues
2) Because yours are the best textures i know, i would love to have a "generic" pack with the same quality. maybe once you are done with this one, you can do a generic one?
hi i was wondering if you could post how to use it... im sorry im really bad at any computer tech stuff so if you could say everything simply with only small words :smile.gif:.. would be greatly appreciated..
@tiagosilva, there is a generic texture pack already, it's being updated by copperdomebodha. Have a look: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=77265
I shall not stand for such blasphemy! Generic indeed! INDEED! Good sir I will ask you to step outs... Um yeah, well I guess that is an element of my design ethos. Fairly true to the original while high res and realistic. Very well. Carry on.
In reposte I shall taunt you that I only reworked almost all my textures for version 2.3 and only have lava remaining to retexture. So there. Harumph!

Pumpkin suggestion: Something similar to or based on your window treatment on top of some kind of stained glass / amber / mica to create the lantern. And they don't have to be full block width you know. They have to be 1M tall but they could be narrower.
What time was it when I posted that? Totally ignore that last part. Of course they have to be full width. duh.
Yes, yes, that's what I meant! "Original"!
I'm eagerly awaiting v2.3
I'll have it up later today. May be this evening because getting flowing textures to tile beautifully is tedious. But the ores are all done now and so is that damn record player as well as many of the others.
I had hoped that I could repackage it for the texture pack loading system and PA-BAM! But apparently we'll have to stick with the HD patcher for now. I haven't tested to see if it will work any longer with the hierarchal changes in the jar file. ( Thanks Notch! Much neater! ) I guess we'll see.

i think this one looks better, one made my Aza was what i had in mind, i already knew that one since this one has a lot of textures from it.
Of course you should follow your own heart, but don't fail to take a look at v.2.3 when it comes out. It makes my current pack cry and hide it's shame.
And now, back to Aza's Arid texture pack brought to you by Aza Industries!

Phew thank god. I was worried I would disappoint you! =P
I'm glad you like it!
Also what smooth stone are you using out of the pack?
EDIT: Oh I just remembered I wanted to make more brick types! I'll be adding that soon!
