do anyone know where i can upload mu squid for free so i can give it to glimmars frontpage?
i want to make my squid downloadable!
Mate, just upload it as a pic in the usual way, like you have with your other pics. I'll use your link and put it on the front page. When I next update the pack I'll include your squid as an alternative with the others. I'm sorry you missed this one, because I really love it!
@ Everyone else above who have made such generous contributions of their work. I'll put them at the top when I've had a little break, ok. Many thanks for helping to increase the range of alternate mobs, etc for everyone to use.
Please note the front page has been updated with the latest v1.7 pack
Oh, right, youre more than welcome to use my zombie skin, no need to ask or anything! My pleasure :smile.gif:
Nice one, mate. I just need a little break at the mo', but as soon as I can I'll put them in Glimmar's Emporium at the top and they'll inspire others to have a go.
You deserve a break, lad. And you deserve diamonds too, keep it :biggrin.gif:
I got this epic idea for the skeletons, they will be broken robots, made for war, but malfunctioned and went rogue. Oh man, I just love pixel art. Finished the head already, moving on to body which will be the hard part, as it will consist of scattered remains of the hull and pipes everywhere.
HA ha! I'm looking forward to seeing that!
Glimmar's Steampunk is/was my first attempt at pixel art myself, it's a challange, but hugely satisfying when you get something that tiles or works nicely. Just grateful to Notch for producing a game in which it is relatively easy to tinker with the graphics.
I hope you keep doing what you're doing, Glimmar. Just take some time off and relax. I can't think of anyone more deserving.
My first take on the carpet/wallpaper was a five minute job and it shows, horribly.
Cleaned them up and preserved the lighter wool for the airship pirates who like their sails a bit darker.

Just two quick examples.

I LOVE IT Xendrid...will be adding them to my version of Glimmar's 1.7...sorry Glimmar...still love you!
@ Xendrid: Those look awesome! But... My airship don't use sails, yarr >:3
A month ago I was going to share my castle I built using this steampunk pack... but when I logged in I saw a bunch of people sharing airships and other steampunk works that blew my fortress out of my water. In fact, they still blow all of my creations out of the water, but I figure I'll share anyway :smile.gif:
Here's some pics of the building process for the airship:
And here's the video tour for the whole Airship:
And, even though it's nothing compared to all the other epic creations I've seen in this thread, here's the Fortress of Doom:
EDIT: fixed youtube embedding

I painted a creeper on my car and it blew up. True story.
That's a consipracy I've never heard before: The Hindenburg was brought down by all the creepers that spawned in the envelope over the night. Curse you, Notch!
*EDIT*
First person to find or make me a creeper/Hindenburg picture gets a cookie.
@StugAce: For a 32x32 pack you got to resize the itemsheet to 512x512 pixels. If you resize you should do "Nearest Neighbour". For creating the items you either choose a canvas of 32x32 or use a grid of 32x32 pixels, so you can easily position items.
This is what I did, though for some reason my items ended up having a jagged 3D edge when used (16x16 extruded edge vs 32x32). I'll try again and play with it for a while until it clicks.
Just a small suggestion: how about changing(or adding an optional texture) the wooden fences to iron/steel/brass ones? They might double as pipes that way.
Wow, nostalgia: That was one of the first things I suggested all the way back on page 3.
Unfortunately, the fences directly use the wooden plank textures, so to get wrought-iron fences you need wrought-iron wooden planks =[. Still, if someone has made a mod that gives fences their own textures, or creates a new model for fences, someone here would be more than willing to give it a proper stampunk look
Also: Damn, I think I'm the only one still commenting in this thread from page 3... That was back in the beginning of October! I don't think I could re-read this monster even under threat of death.

Thanks, you guys. :smile.gif: No need to apologise, mate, those textures are cool and definately going to the top. You know me by now, it's all about choice to create what we want.
Sometime I need to properly devise a way of displaying all the 'textures' together in one downloadable image and all the 'paintings' in another (decorative...paintings, illustrations, plans, etc. functional...gadgets, mechanical, etc. architectural...columns, stained glass, panels, statues, etc.) With a link to a tutorial on how to cut and paste. Some of us are and aren't familiar with editing, but just a mouse and a free copy of Paint.net or Gimp is all that's needed to get the look we're after. It's the variety of the above kind of textures that most interests me, for the very reason illustrated in your fantastic pics, Xendrid.

Just amazing work mate!! And if you don't mind I'll put those vids at the top, to inspire others. Many thanks for all your truly awesome hard work. :smile.gif:
You had me in stitches at the point the creepers invaded the airship! Classic, but not for you at the time I suspect!
Glimmar, I had a very silly question-- I've been trying to modify the flames from your Torches, and the torches themselves, to use in my personal mixpack. But all the other parts I use are 64*64.
Do you have any advice / help in regards to scaling the flame up without making it look all smeared and odd (which is what happened both times I tried)?
Thanks for an awesome pack either way-- This is probably my favorite 32*32 pack.

I've not even properly tried to edit any items yet, so my apologies for not being able to help. By the time I get round to doing my version of the items, I'll be coming to you for advice. Hope you get it sorted soon. :smile.gif:
...and that is beautiful, sinister and amazing! You're the Squid King! Can I use that at the top and in the next pack, mate?
I'm just waiting for someone (if it's not already been done) to make a 'Squidward' version now. Not exactly Steampunk, but this new mob is certainly inspiring everyone to be creative!
Great work Glimmar! Loving the pack so far and hope you keep updating it as Notch adds new stuff.
Just a small suggestion: how about changing(or adding an optional texture) the wooden fences to iron/steel/brass ones? They might double as pipes that way. EDIT: nevermind, I just noticed how the fences are made. Crap.
Keep up the good work!
Oh, and another two steampunk inspired bands great to listen to while creating(along with the great Vernian Process of course) are Abney Park and Doctor Steel. I highly recomend them for inspiration :wink.gif:
I'm familiar with Abney Park, but not Doctor Steel. I'll check them out again. :smile.gif:
Yeh! it's annoying that the fence isn't a separate texture. It would look so much better as black cast iron. I'm still thinking of doing an alternate signpost that is cast iron. Which could have limited uses as a decorative kind of fence! :smile.gif:

My base/laboratory and airship dock. I simply ADORE your texturepack, but I think it might be a little bit brighter as I can hardly see where I'm going at nights :tongue.gif:
And this is just stunning! I'll show off that pic at the top if I may...no-one has made a laboratory before (apologies folks if I'm wrong).
Glad you like the textures, etc. I'm kind of sorry about the light levels (and kind of not Lol!), because I sort of like it dim and sinister. However I have to say it wasn't by design, more happenstance really. I think it's due to a number of factors...moon, green lights, darker textures, not sure really. Being a humble artist I have no idea how the lighting works in Minecraft, but I was very happy how the torches worked out as Victorian style gas lamps.
This thing is still in the code somewhere? http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Gear
It's the ancester of red dust but what's more interesting is... well rotating gear!
I wonder if MaudDib could unlock this for us if it is? Notch should put it to it's intended use before someone else does.

Oh sir, you are simply beautiful!
And to anyone interested: I can do a few gentlemanly/steampunk skins for players, if anyone cares.
