ahhhh! I LOVE steam punk, and this is just amazing!
When will it be available??
Thanks, senectus (and all others asking when it will be finished). I'm going flat out on it whenever I have spare time, and I'm trying to seriously control my bad habit of reworking things...honestly! So I won't commit to a date, but hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for all the encouragement again guys, I know I ride your patience like a tightrope!!

Yeah I'd remove one of the 4 sleepers on your straight rails. The curved rails are perfect though.
You are absolutely right. The track doesn't look so bad from above, it's when you look down the track at eye level that there's serious 'detail interference'. I like to be able to see the texture from the block underneath and at present that's not happening. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to edit though. The curve was a real challenge, but overall I'm pleased with how it turned out. I may still change the colour of the rail as it's looking a little 'pinker' in the pics than it did on paper. Thanks for the observations, keeps me on my toes and thinking!
Lovin' it. I check this thread twice a day for updates...haha!

"... one of the main causes of the fall of the Roman Empire was that, lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination of their C programs." - Robert Firth
The only quarrel I have with the rails (besides the aforementioned sleeper edit on the straights) is that on the curve, the central part of the track with the green bits in is a straight line, but the outside of the track is curved.
Should the middle part not be curved, too?
Good point, Garacesh. It was originally curved, but looked aweful due to pixel limitation, I can see why Doku did his railtrack the way he did now. I'm using artistic/steampunk licence here too, lol, so hopefully the corners look like some kind of booster/power feed mechanism. I'll have another look at it though when I take one of the sleepers out on the straight. I keep thinking I've found the most difficult tile to do and then another ups the ante!

Found a cool door thought you'd get a kick out of:
That's one awesome door. I guess the guy wanted to feel safe! I would love to live in a bunker and have a door like that. Just wouldn't like to be the guy who has to hang it on the hinges though!
Actually that's got me thinking about the sound files for the doors in my theme. I don't want to get sidetracked onto that side of things, but the door sounds don't quite compliment my steampunk doors anymore, particularly the iron door. A lovely, 'airlock swish, clunk and burst of steam,' would work a treat. Anyone have any leanings to doing some sound files to accompany my terrain file?
You sir, don't seem to fully understand the Steampunk aesthetic!! If the opportunity arises, you always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS go with mechanical Spiders. This is not in dispute, don't bother trying to argue, but I WILL provide examples.
Need a tank? Mechanical spiders.
Need an ubertank? Mechanical spiders.
Need a super-weapon capable of bringing a world power to its' knees? Mechanical Spider.
Mechanical spiders are awesome, they will get you the ladies.
It would be a crime to steampunks everywhere not to have mechanical spiders, no matter the size
Now go, my clockwork arachnids! My eight legged steam-powered monstrosities! Tell Glimmar, and all who would view this thread, of your grandeur, and your necessity!
Steampunk Railway Launched!
It looked ok on paper, but not sure if it's a little too busy in Minecraft. Possibly should have cut back by one sleeper I think. Oh well, it'll do for now, then I can move on and get this lot out to you, sooner than later.
I'd had a few cool suggestions for the railtrack so far, including a monorail from LimitForce which I think I'd like to do sometime, but I'd already gone with the idea that appealed to me most (by Triskelli) and resulted in the track depicted above:
Before I forget again! Many thanks for the updated art file Tiger4Ruler, that should prove very useful for anyone interested in this theme. I'm still thinking of working on one that has a lot of symbols, blueprints and now also a few wall gadgets too, eg. oldstyle CRT screens, and what-not...I'll experiment first though! I didn't know it was possible to walk through paintings...just found that out (I know, everyone but me knew that!).

Here is a 1024x1024pixel of the art file belongs in the art folder inside minecraft.jar
All artworks belongs to the artists, if you see your work and want it removed I will do so ASAP as I respect ownership of art etc. ^^ Feel free to include your own pictures of steampunk! at this resolution its clearer and easier to put art in that is not necessary pixelart.
file must be renamed 'kz.png' before transferring it into the minecraft.jar art folder.
Many thanks for the info on the torches The_Fool76, that's going to come in handy. I love what you've done with your Mooncraft texture. It's amazing what can be done with Minecraft with just a little imagination and tinkering. Of course it could all change on Halloween! :biggrin.gif:
I want all these skins, why isnt there a link or anything?

It isn't what I expected, but then again I'm not sure what to expect for a steampunk rail xD hehe
Definately looks good though! :biggrin.gif:
Steampunk Pack - Steampunk textures.
Frenden's Texture Pack - Nice simple 16x16 texture pack.
Alchemy - *drool* Yesss...
The Quick Fix!
Click the creeper!
I love SteamPunk. I like this better than my current setup with the painterly pack.
This must be released or else I will send my giant exploding green penises at you.
All jokes aside, it's a great pack, I love it, and it will hopefully spice up my day.
So please.
Upload this pack.
Now.
Oh, and I love those torches, and wood. Whats the smooth stone texture? I think it could do with a metallic glint or something.
pretty sure its the stuff that looks like sandstone

Exactly the same except with handlebar/curly mustache :-D
Or do you mean :-}D
Seriously though, this is a good question... How do you present creepers and zombies in a steampunk setting?
Oooooh!! Maybe portray them as a slew of Frankenstein's monsters, with stitches and mismatched body parts! Eh? Eh?
(P.S., don't bother looking up "Steampunk Zombies" on Google image search, all you get is teens wearing goggles and facepaint
Toshiba Satellite: It sucks
hmm add Top Hats? :-P
Zombies are easy, just add period clothes. Spiders you may as well leave alone.
Creeps I think just some red eyes, maybe darken the edges a bit...

Oh, and in other news, here's a great gallery with concept art from Rise of Legends, the game from which I got the Ubertank shown above.
