Hi everyone. Only briefly passing through, just to say I will be away for a little while, catching up with RL.
Triskelli, you were right on the squid! I must say I'm a little daunted by the amount of new things, bearing in mind it's also come at a busy time for me. I'm not the speediest species of artist and I do like to spend time considering what's best for the theme, especially for the terrain file. I need to play a bit too, to get a feel for the new materials. There's a lot of re-jigging of space on that terrain file too and I guess the best thing will be for me to take all the alternative textures off and display them in a separate area up top.
Basically, don't expect anything soon guys, I'll be in my fortress of solitude for some time and may need to put some of the other ideas i had on hold for now. As always, the terrain textures come first for me.
I will pop in briefly from time to time, and would be very grateful for any info and advice on the new things (like from Triskelli and Tlos above). Your ideas to kick start the little grey cells into inspiration would be appreciated (they're pretty tired at the moment, I can tell you).
I apologise to anyone who was hoping for, or expecting, a quick update!
Yeah...us texture makers will have to work at getting the place holder in soon for the new blocks and such. Give it time, Notch added a ton to the terrain file.

Okay, I'm just wondering if you can send a reply with the most up to date things on the steampunk texture packs and mods. I don't really want to go searching for them I have a lot on my plate right now and don't want to send too much free time on a search. That would be nice if you could do that for me. thanks, bye. <3
Did you ever think of checking the original post by Glimmar? You will find all of the latest download links there along with the link to MaudDib's vehicle mod. Glimmar updates that page quite a bit.

well...from the skin I can edit, it's doable. A block with tentacles would work for me to make the shell, glowing aqua green eyes, and the tentacles made from (think Dr Octopus) metal.
Here again...only the god we know as MauDib will change what I'm working with for mobs...

I thought of a nautilus before I had seen the actual mob. Granted, to make use of the tentacles a larger species is in order, but nothing says we can't make the tentacles transparent...
I might get a new terrain.png file out late tomorrow or weekend, chaps.
I've had a good look at it now and have some ideas for making just basic changes to start with and I'll work at a steady pace thereafter to do something a bit more special for each block. I'm not worrying about the new mob for now, or the items, and you've all patiently put up with the basic items so far (Tlos and others excellent stand-ins apart), so if I can get this to you sooner than later, then you'll be ready for xau's M C patcher up-date when it comes.
I'll also throw in some other surprises too if there's time, but no new gadgety painting file yet, as I don't want to rush that out, there isn't a MorePainting mod yet anyway.
Thanks for your support. (I must be mad, I really do need the rest at the moment and my wife is giving me the evil eye!)
Maybe you should use this as a chance to change the wool, oven, and record player designs.

Well, this is unfortunate. After today's update I jumped on in and saw that the top of my furnaces was nothing but a purple square. I tried re-patching the texture pack (thinking that it might be a re-assignment issue) and it didn't work. Could this be a problem with the new textures that Notch put in? If that's the case, how would I go about fixing it?
Edit: Tried to attach a picture, but it said that the attachment quota for this thread was maxed. Tried it twice.
This thread intrigues me, however I'm not at my minecraft computer. I'll have to put this guy in and see how the textures look. I think I'll take the pumpkin diver head and put on the night vision mask someone else made for the pumpkin helmet, should be a good or at least more interesting combo then just a screen.

Did you ever think of checking the original post by Glimmar? You will find all of the latest download links there along with the link to MaudDib's vehicle mod. Glimmar updates that page quite a bit.
That seems like it would be difficult to make a skin of that squid that would also fit with the in-game squid model.
I think the skin should be like a giant squid. Like the one in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea"

MaudDib's Vehicles Pack [Mod]
I'm working on some 32x32 textures for the Romancraft Tex pack. Any advice/tips for working at that scale?
I'm much better at poking 16x16 textures XD.
(Usually weekdays between 6pm-12am US EST)
