d95 was first to spot my deliberate [cough] mistake on the bottom of the paddle steamer boat. I missed a strip at the bottom of the boat on both sides...and I was sure I'd checked everything! Lol! Sorry folks! I'll correct it soon. In the meantime don't rock your boats too much, you might sink!

Well, while I try out a few more times on the boat, you guys get a golden shovel or two.
A simple golden shovel, for those times when you want to seem rich, but humble. Another part of the Town Central clock, this was actually made of spare parts.

hehe.......10 boats has crashed on my save!
You obviously need a licence then! Or a life jacket! Lol!

Herewith: Corrected MaudDib Paddle Steamer:
With closed wheel housing (bottom black strip on the skin template wheel housing)
With open wheel housing.
I'd be grateful if someone could check these out for me, as I've still not had chance to move up to beta, etc. There are two versions to see if it's possible to have the paddle wheel housing open at the bottom...so divers can see the paddle wheel properly rotating up into the top. It would be great if it could be open and I'll take that into account for the hi res version. Many thanks for your patience! :smile.gif:
My apologies to you MaudDib for getting it wrong to start with! :sad.gif:
Glimmar you must of missed my post in MaudDib's thread. I am posting it here so there are no misunderstandings. I would feel bad if you thought i was upset in any way.
Quote from Glimmar »
@ Telgar: My sincere apologies, mate. I certainly didn't want to steal your glory! Being the nice chap you are, I genuinely believed you were serious, when you said you didn't want to bother MaudDib with more videos. Really sorry about that! I guess no more tea for me from the diver's helm for a while, eh? :sad.gif:
I was serious about not bothering MaudDib with more videos. I would not have posted it here unless he said it was ok. You did fine, no reason to apologize at all. I'm happy you posted it.
I think it was this line of my previous post that caused the misunderstanding:
Glimmar!..................Lol just kidding ya. I wanted to post it here too. Thank you for saving me the trouble. =D
This is me kidding you. About you worrying about me getting mad. I wanted to post it here but would not have unless MaudDib wanted it posted. Perhaps i should of been clearer. =P
My tea kettle is always at your disposal Glimmar. Why, your my favorite person to drink the heavenly brew with! Please feel free to stop by my shoppe whenever you're in the mood for some light conversation and a spot of tea mate. I look forward to it. I will even clean the rust from the bottom of the diving helm teapot in anticipation! =)
Many thanks for the compliments, Servbot44, and apologies for the confusing nature of finding the most up-to-date pack. It was both on page 50 and the first page...v1.6 is the most up-to-date with a new one coming out as soon as I can get MuadDib's vehicle skins completed. Page one tends to get buried in things I want to show off at the top, and I'm certainly not the most organised of people! :sad.gif:
There are new skins for the minecart and boat on page 1 too, but you'll have to drop these in yourself for now. These will be in the next version of the pack, along with new terrain textures, hopefully a new, gadgety 'really useful' art pack, with Tiger4Rulers Steampunk art pack still available, and a few mob and gui surprises from other contributors in lieu of my own, until I get round to it.
The grass has been edited to take into account that once grown to it's full 2 block height it tends to get very difficult in places, I've shortened it and added a bit more randomness...not a patch on John Smith's or Misa's I'm afraid, but I'll get there! My manicured grass block doesn't lend itself to wild grass as nicely as their more heavily textured versions. What we ideally need with the grass, as I've said in the Wild Grass thread, is a random growth and death cycle, and if possible, a procedure that makes the grass drop a growth level everytime you or a mob walks over it. You'd get nice well worn paths then and even the ability to track mobs (possibly).
Ooo! Show us your steampunk city sometime! :biggrin.gif:
Thank you muchly for the information! Some people are more organized than others, that's completely fine lol. I will definitely continue to support this endeavor, and make sure that I download all the updated textures, including MaudDib's vehicle textures.
As for the city, you're gonna have to wait on that. I'm trying to dig out my mountainside first, then I can get to actually building the dockwork, and perhaps a train station similar to those designed by other, greater designers. I've got an excellent pyramidal lantern tower to mark the midpoint of my city however, and I also intend to make a couple Tesla-coil-inspired lantern towers to mark the main entrance to my city. The pyramidal lantern tower is mainly to find my way back if I die. XD
Thanks again for clarifying where to gather everything! I'll be checking back here at least once a day to see what's new!
Herewith a set of 16x16 and 32x32 icons for the MaudDib/Glimmar Paddle Steamer.
Have fun! I'm washed out until tomorrow. I'll work on the larger 128x128 Paddle Steamer.png file for Glimmar's Steampunk tomorrow. Night folks! :smile.gif:
No, Tlos, I'm well and truly humbled by the amount of work you must have put into all those items above and I've not truly appreciated the effort behind it, until trying my hand at those paddle steamer, icons. I've never done so many edits and re-edits as tonight. Pixel artist's are absolute giants as far as I'm concerned. Give me a square block or blank canvas anyday! How can something so small take so much effort?
Bloomin' 'eck, when and if, I ever tackle the icons myself, you'll need to carry me out on a stretcher!
@Glimmar:To be honest, each item takes me anywhere between fifteen minutes and two hours, with the longest being the diamond drill (I couldn't figure out what to do with it). Some items (the flintlock crossbow for example) take only one try, but some (again the drill, or any of the diamond items) take up to five tries before I come up with linework.
Coloring is actually really easy, I just take what I feel is a nice tone, usually darker and muted, and add progressively darker and lighter overlays. After that, I just take a shade quite a few notches below the darkest color of a section, and make the line for that section that color, then I shade for that. After all of this is done, I put it into my experimental item sheet, test them out, and either put them on the sheet or rework them.
Sorry for the essay.
@ DigitalZebra: try Xau's HD Patcher, it should fix that.
I cant believe i just read through that whole thread. It has taken me three days to do it.
This is the best texture pack I have ever seen and is the only one I use. Great job Glimmar.
@ Xendrid: I know what you mean about the wooden door. If like me you use a lot of wooden doors, the offset detail of my original door just doesn't look right when used en-masse. Lovin' what you've done with your edit and I'll include that on my next update, if I may.
Absolutely, man! There are just a few other things that I will toy around with and see if you would approve.
Also I noticed the current gui samples on the OP are 256x256. I haven't been able to read through the thread, but I was wondering why they aren't 512x512?
