@ ReaperOfDeath: Love the S.S.Glimmar and how it's coming along. I don't know whether that's the version you're intending putting paddle wheels on, but I can just imagine them on the side of that shape. Can I smash a bottle of champagne on it at the offical launch! Ha ha, and you did get MuadDib's little paddle steamer in there too! The vid you made is excellent too :biggrin.gif: I'm so frustrated to be tied up with other things at the mo' not to have tried it out yet! :sad.gif:
@ MaudDib: First my apologies, I've been consistently and unforgivably spelling your forum name wrong. I'm a great fan of the 'Dune' series (pretty steampunkish too, if you ask me) and have always pronounced the name in my head as 'moo-ad-dib', and spelt it as I remember it sounding without checking. Apologies again for that! :sad.gif:
I'll change the reference to the paddle steamer at the top of the thread to also point to your mod thread. Will that be ok?
Also, don't mind folks querying the mod here, happy that they are interested in it, but you should also get the attention it deserves on your thread and for proper debugging, ideas etc.
I count it an honour though that you've taken some of our ideas seriously for vehicles, etc. and we're extremely lucky to have our own 'mad scientist' constructing fabulous engines of mass destruction and....sorry....for the betterment of Minecraft society in general...got carried away a bit there! :biggrin.gif:
I've never used Risugami's ModLoader before, I'll add that to the list of things to try out today! Does that work ok with MrM's stuff? What order do you install your issential mods?
@ muncher21: Thanks for the compliment. Specific theme packs are never going to appeal to the masses, so I understand where you're coming from. :smile.gif:
@ Triskelli: Always love your view of Steampunk. You sum it all up perfectly for me and my inner Blofeld! :biggrin.gif:
@ Foomonchoo: That's looking very cool, but as Reaper says a little dark to see at the moment. Very interested to see the result, mate.
Just popping in to say; this texture pack is amazing, probably the best avaliable. The textures themselves are amazing, and it's a great theme to have, reminds me heavily of Arcanum, one of my favourite games of all time. You've done great work here, keep it up. It should also be noted that the MineGunner mod works brilliantly with this pack, seeing as it adds old fashioned flintlocks, a Steampunk mainstay.
Also, if/when you do get to mob retextures, it might be worth looking at Arcanum's own Mechanized Arachnids for inspiration on the spiders.
Edit: After making this post I've realised the Arcanum UI could easily be hacked apart to make a pretty cool UI for your pack. I'll have to do this when I've got a spare moment. Not that I dislike the UI that's already been made by Bloodjack, I just like Arcanum a lot.

Hahah, it's the sail version, the paddle boat is coming along soon. He's a little teaser of my Sail Boat.
Anyways, I can see you're new at installing mods. Mr.M's mod is PERFECTLY compatible with ModLoader, and MaudDib's SteamBoat (I'm running both of them). You can install all mods, any order you'd like.
You know, I've always loved Arcanum, but I never really realized it was steampunk until recently.
Also, I may not have many items out next week, it's my midterm week. (Although, I could be wrong, every day is a half day, and I have Friday off.)

no problem about the nickname, i knew right away you were a dune fan when I saw the misspellings. I've read almost every novel, including brian herbert's work (incredible work btw) and I goofed when I entered the name =)
as for mods, I run:
BetterLight/BetterGrass
Extended Reach (+32 block distance for adding/removing blocks, comes in longer ranges too)
Zombe's Fly and Builder mods
OreBlockFix <-- you really need that one for beta, without it you dont get the proper side/bottom textures on ore blocks
xau's HD patcher + your texture pack
Risugami's ModLoader + my steamboat
there's no particular order. light/grass and textures use their appropriate patch installers, the rest you will have to work them into the jar file by hand. All of the above can be found on the One Stop Mod Shop link i have in my sig.
Ok...so this video editor I got renders a lot better (although bigger) final vids. I got a good amount of footage from Pipe's. So by tonight I should have a Glimmar/PipeHead video.
There was a couple of mentions of steampuffer (is that a word?) sounds for MaudDib's steamboat mod in his thread. I found some sounds for it that you might want to use. How you will mod it in there i leave up to you guys. I made a video of the steamboat with the sounds. Here is the sound file i used in the video: Steam engine.ogg
I also found some other steam engine and steamboat whistle sounds. All these sounds came from a public domain website and are free to use. Here they are.
I hope this can be of some use to you guys. Cheers!
P.S. I am posting this here because i wasn't sure if MaudDib wanted more videos posted in his thread. I know or at least i suspect that Glimmar will not mind. =)

No better than your texture pack, Hobomaster, and yours is far more complete. I am unfortunately bound to real life and all it's responsibilities, though it would be nice to lose oneself in a Minecraft/Arcanum world construct.
I agree there's a wealth of highly appropriate imagery in the Arcanum game that would be so tempting to just port across and jiggy around. However, when i get to do the gui's and mobs, I'll have to try and be true to myself and start from scratch, though there's no harm in being inspired by it's gorgeous graphics...they certainly got it right!
I was looking at the MineGunner mod during the week and thought just how appropriate it was for this theme, so I've approached the modder to ask if I might put a link to his thread at the top of mine, but thanks for confirming it would work with this pack.
Many thanks for your encouraging words, mate, they're much appreciated! You keep up the good work too!
@ ReaperofDeath: Love the sail boat and so looking forward to seeing the others. Also a big thank you for teaching me how to make my sig active. Telgar showed me how to convert links ealier this week but your sig kind of made the penny drop!
No I'm a fish out of water when it comes to using mods and always step very cautiously. That's why I'm so slow. Lol! I have my favourite setups saved as bin files, so I don't know why I'm so cautious. Probably because when I'm messing with textures the last thing I want is any kind of instability to creep in, ending up with me having to re-install, etc. Archaic I know, but kind of fits the theme, hee hee! Loved your vids above and many thanks for the credits etc.
@ MaudDib: Thanks for understanding about your name! That must have been annoying when you realized your mistake! Also thanks for the advice on the mods. I've just had no time today. With a family of young 'ens the weekend is always a lot more busy for me, I'm afraid! I'm trying my best to post in your thread to keep it bumped to the top as it deserves. Keep up the great work, mate. :smile.gif:
@ Gestankfaust: Looking forward to the vid!
@ Thirsty_Hirsty: Love your name and many thanks for the encouragement!
@ Telgar: Brilliant Vid and once again you illustrate the power of a simple sound file to double the atmosphere of something...Wonderful! I'll see about including those links somewhere at the top and perhaps MaudDib will be further inspired listening to them. I love the sound of steam engines, thanks again mate.
@ Tlos: Wow! Awesome list, and now with a key. As soon as I can I'll bump it to the top. Thanks mate!
Glimmar, I'm just loving the combined work of you and MaudDib. Just want to say that first and foremost.
Secondly, I'm having a problem navigating this thread to find the most up-to-date files. Is it all on page 50, or are the most up-to-date items on page 1 now?
Aside from congratulations and questioning I just wanted to mention that I had the same immensely ridiculous issue that another poster had with the Wild Grass mod. I know, it's not your mod/pack, I'm just mentioning it because I was using it in concert with your pack.
My grass grew to it's full height in the shortest amount of time in combination with whichever biome I'm in, it created a fairly dark and difficult venture. The area in which I spawn is also surrounded by trees... so it's even harder to find my way. I did, however, remove the Wild Grass mod so I could finally get around without falling off the edge of cliffs, getting caught off guard by mobs, etc.
Even though I had all that horror.... the grass does indeed work EXCELLENTLY to compliment your texture pack. Especially when it comes to designing a Steampunk city from the ground up.
WOW! I just popped in here, for the first time in about a week. 5 or 6 pages of reading later, and I find I'm now too exhausted to comment. But I just want to say that I am extremely impressed with all of the new stuff everyone has been posting. That steamboat! Wow, that's amazing that someone finally got a working vehicle into the game.
Flyable airships! OMG! Mole-Machine! OMGOMG0!!
Now I just need to buy the damn game so I can enjoy everything you guys have made available. I know it's only like $15 but I have been hard up for any kind of extra moolah around here. In a few weeks my checks will be caught up and hopefully can finally delve into thee full version of the game.
Cheers everyone, and thanks for all of the support of VP.
im looking to more improve my minecraft over all look. what are some good to run side by side with this mod keeping in mind i build in single player mode only i dont care too much for online play.
Also last time i said i was going to convert an entire island to a base well i found that a bit hard soo many odd shaped boundries. so instead i got a new world and built my own island well more of a 1/10 done oil rig set up :smile.gif:

Hahahah thank you. Love the HitchHiker's Guide to The Galaxy Refrence you have there.
I'll make it as soon as I finish up my homework, and my port. After that comes the 2 steampunk'd boats, and then a entire steampunk city.
Hehehe. A little bit ambitious though. Project might take a few weeks, since I have school and stuff.
xD
*42* posts. W00t w00t!

Retired StaffThere's a clip in the practice one I did:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=130508&p=1893071#p1893071
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
Will my client, modded by ModLoader for your PaddleBoat work with SMP servers?
@[email protected] - it doesn't and this should of been in the mod's thread...should of read all the posts before posting.
I also found some other steam engine and steamboat whistle sounds. All these sounds came from a public domain website and are free to use. Here they are.
1. Steamboat whistle.mp3
2. Steam engine sounds1.wav
3. Steam engine sounds2.wav
4. Steam engine train.mp3
I hope this can be of some use to you guys. Cheers!
P.S. I am posting this here because i wasn't sure if MaudDib wanted more videos posted in his thread. I know or at least i suspect that Glimmar will not mind. =)

I wasn't too fond of the wooden door though so I made a very small edit to my liking.
